Work Text:
Beomgyu was on his way back to the dorm, clutching his twisting stomach and grimacing. The group had been practicing for their upcoming comeback but Beomgyu hadn’t been feeling well. He’d actually run out of the room, just barely making it to the bathroom before he threw up what was left in his stomach, but he had insisted that he just wasn’t feeling well.
Yeonjun had immediately sent the younger home, Beomgyu argued that he was absolutely fine now that he had nothing in his stomach, but the older wasn’t having it. He told Beomgyu that he had the entire dance down anyway and that he needed rest if he was throwing up the one meal he had had this morning. So here Beomgyu was, on his way up to their dorm so that he could shower, get in bed, and then wait for the rest of his members to come and coddle him. He was kind of excited though, he got out of practice first and he got all the hot water? Maybe he would time his shower perfectly to use just enough water to make everyone else’s shower less warm and then somehow make sure that Kai takes his shower last so that he has no warm water. A little payback for last time when the youngest decided that he was going to take a twenty minute shower, fully knowing that Beomgyu was going to be the last member to clean himself.
Beomgyu chuckled to himself as he reached the last stair, he pulled out his key card to open the dorm door but was shocked to see that it was already open. Not just a crack like in the movies where someone is in your house but didn’t close the door, the door was wide open and Beomgyu wasn’t sure if that scared him more or less. Because the fact that someone could be in his house and didn’t even bother to close the heavy door was pretty terrifying.
So the sick boy placed one foot in the room, cautiously looking around and making as little noise as possible. Everything seemed to be in place, nothing seemed to be missing but he couldn’t be sure. When you have something for so long, you don’t realize when it goes missing.
Beomgyu continued to creep into the house, gently closing the door behind him and toeing off his shoes. He knows that they didn’t leave the door open, Taehyun is too paranoid half the time to leave anything open, always making sure everything is shut and locked tight. But then, how did someone get in without the key card. It doesn't make any sense, that door could barely be opened with the right key card, faulty lock system or some shit, Beomgyu didn’t know. All he knew was that the door was constantly a pain in the ass.
That didn’t make Beomgyu any less paranoid though, he made sure to check all throughout the dorm just to satisfy his growing anxiety. When he found nothing, he sighed, a massive weight having been lifted off of his shoulders, maybe he just imagined closing the door today. Maybe Taehyun forgot to shut it tight enough and the wind blew it open. Maybe he’s hallucinating. Oh, maybe this is all just a fever dream and Beomgyu passed out in the middle of practice.
He chuckled to himself as he thought about how his members would act if he just collapsed on them, maybe he would play a prank on them one day with that. Someone’s birthday sounded like a good idea, no?
Beomgyu grabbed some pajamas and headed to the shower. One thing he loved about his dorm was that there was a window in the bathroom, it provided some natural light and in order to avoid fogging up the bathroom, they could just open the window.
Before getting in, Beomgyu shut the door behind him and opened the window, putting on some music so that he could enjoy the limited time alone he was allowed. As he got in the shower he thought about how lucky he was to be able to shower first, they always play rock-paper-scissors to see who gets to shower first and Beomgyu just happens to be really bad at that game, to the point where in the two years they’ve been living together, Beomgyu has showered first 4 times, and half of them were because he decided to wake up early enough to warrant getting the bathroom first.
Beomgyu continued to sing to his heart’s content in the shower, happy that because no one else was home, he could pretty much be as loud as he wanted. Thank goodness for thick walls.
When he stepped out of the shower, it was nice. The sun was still out and the breeze drifting in through the window was nice, making Beomgyu shiver a bit but otherwise, it was peaceful. He could feel how his stomach had settled a bit, only a small headache remained, but that was nothing a tylenol couldn’t kill.
Because the window wasn’t all that big, there was still some condensation on the mirror, and evidently a small heart drawn onto it. Beomgyu laughed it off, thinking that one of his members had walked in and drawn a heart to alert him that they were back. He found it odd though, if it was one of his members, they would’ve come in and told him to stop his cat-like screeching. But he brushed it off, they were probably being softer on him because he didn’t feel well.
Beomgyu got dressed in a sweatshirt and shorts. He particularly loved this outfit because the sweatshirt was about three sizes too big and his shorts were incredibly short. It made the oldest members want to cuddle the life out of him, he loved having them wrapped around his finger. He began brushing out his hair and applying some moisturizer to his face. At this point he had forgotten about the whole door incident and walked out into the living room. He sat down on the couch and put some random drama on the television. He found it odd that no one had come out to greet him yet. And now he wanted to cuddle, so where the hell was everyone?
“Hyungs? Taehyunnie? Hyucka? If this is a prank, it isn’t very funny guys, I still don’t feel the best.” It’s not exactly a lie, his headache was getting worse, but it’s not like he liked to be joked around with at a time like this. Beomgyu considered himself sensitive when he was sick, usually on the verge of tears because of the pain but he thought his members knew that by now.
He’s walking around the house again as he hears scuffling coming from one of the rooms and suddenly the door comes back to him, that door was wide open. Why he didn’t panic in the first place was astonishing to Beomgyu. His anxiety starts to spike as he traverses the rooms, whoever is in this house, it isn’t one of his members, which is a bad thing. It could be a robber, coming to rob him or what if somebody had come to steal him, he couldn’t physically do anything other than thrash around if someone were to pick him up so he had no way of defending himself if that happened.
He decided to open the door to Soobin, Taehyun, and HueningKai’s room and he walked in, wandering around and looking through things until he heard a small giggle come from underneath the bed.
Beomgyu had never noped the fuck out of a room so fast in his fucking life, he ran out of the door, not bothering to replace his slippers for shoes and ran all the way down to the practice room again. While he was running he could hear the footsteps and the whining of a girl behind him, tears were running down his face as he looked behind him and saw a small girl sprinting after him with a wide smile on her face.
He ran faster, skipping steps on the stairs to get to the second floor and then flinging the door open. He ran down the hallway and smacked into a chest, when he looked up and saw Soobin, he had never gripped onto somebody harder in his entire life. The younger boy sobbed into Soobin’s chest, so close to collapsing on the ground because now his head hurt and he was nauseous again. The slightly older man had held onto him back, quick to ask what he was crying about and what was going on. When they heard footsteps slowly walking towards them, the grip Soobin had on the younger tightened, gently turning his body away from the noise. The others had come into the hallway at all the commotion, trying to get information out of the boy.
“Hi, I’m lost, could you please help me, Oppa?” the girl dragged on the last word, making everyone in the room understand what she was. She wasn’t just some lost staff member, she was a sasaeng. The members couldn’t figure out what had made Beomgyu so upset though, he was showered and everything, even still wearing his slippers. Huening Kai ended up being the one to put it together.
“Yah, how did you get into our dorm?” The youngest stepped up and placed his hands on his hips, the older members looked confused, how did she get into the dorm? How long had she been there? What had she seen? Soobin gripped Beomgyu impossibly tighter. The two eldest looked at each other and immediately knew what to do.
“Hey, yeah, we can help you. What is it you need?” Yeonjun put on his best fake smile and slowly walked up to the girl. She smiled at him and then went to hug the oldest, who reluctantly accepted and turned his head to the others.
Soobin turned to Taehyun, “Go get a security guard” and the other immediately ran off. The rest of the group stood there, the young sasaeng still hugging Yeonjun and Soobin hugging Beomgyu. When security finally came back with the second youngest, the girl looked up, betrayed.
“Why are they here, Oppa, are they here for me?” Before Yeonjun could even get a chance to answer, the guard was grabbing her by the forearm and dragging her out of the building. For a few minutes all they could hear were the sounds of her screaming and Beomgyu sniffling. When they were gone, the group surrounded their middle member frantically asking if he was okay, he only clutched tighter to their leader and nodded.
The group had security thoroughly check their dorm for any sign of another fan and they replaced the lock on their door, turns out the other one was slightly broken, and the sasaeng was able to get in with just any card with a barcode on it.
After everything had settled, the members sat with a now very sick Beomgyu. All his crying and sudden movements had made his headache and stomach ache worse, not to mention that anytime Beomgyu went to sleep all he could think of was someone being in his house, so the members were on a short break, they didn’t want to leave anyone alone and to be honest, all the members were shook to their core that this could happen again.
When they put themselves back into the idol scene, Beomgyu was a little skeptical about going back into the spotlight, his trauma of the past worming it’s way into his present. But he had his members, anytime he became overwhelmed or felt like he had too many people in his space, he’d just tug on a members arm and they would lead him to a quieter place.
All in all, it took a while for him to be emotionally alright again, but at least he would never be left alone now.
