Work Text:
Jack has always loved music.
He sings in the shower, he hums to himself while folding laundry. Hell, he even sings Kathy to sleep, sometimes. He's got seventy-four Spotify playlists (around ten of them were made specifically for Kathy, even before they were dating).
Jack thinks that singing can make the most boring task a million times better. Which is why he's singing I Think We Danced (But I Can't Be Sure) as he washes the dishes. He turns the music up.
"Go put your best dress on, I'll meet you at your door..." he sings.
He hopes he's not being too loud, because Kath is working on something in the other room. He's not too worried, though. Once Kath gets into the flow of working, she doesn't pay attention to anything at all. It's like her whole world fades away.
"And maybe tonight's just the night to take chances...I've waited this whole week to sweep you off your feet...." Jack continues to sing, scrubbing a plate with the sponge. "And I swear I won't let you go 'til we're dancin'..."
He makes it through the chorus and the second verse before Kath emerges from the bedroom, rubbing her eyes. She looks exhausted, but she smiles warmly when she sees Jack.
"Hi, Kitty," he grins.
"Hi, Jack," Kath responds, coming up behind him to give him a hug. Jack spins around and gives Kath a twirl, causing her to let out a surprised giggle.
"You're wasting water, you know," she scolds playfully, turning the sink off.
Jack pulls her closer to him, his hands on her hips, both of them swaying slightly- not really dancing, but it's something. "Shh, just enjoy the song."
Kathy giggles again, resting her head on Jack's shoulder.
I think we danced last night
But I can't be sure
I think we danced last night
And I want one more
