Its the big day. Finally the day has come for Maze and Eve's wedding.
Linda was at home getting ready for the ceremony. Hair and make-up done, all that's left is the dress. She pulls the red dress out of her closet. A very beautiful dress that was silk to the touch. But why did she feel a heavy feeling on her chest? The burning feeling in the back of her throat, not going away for one bit. Yes, it was a very lovely dress, but its not the one she wanted to use on such a big day like this. No, she wanted a pearl white dress with an open back, just enough for a firm strong dark hand to touch. She knew who's hand she wanted that to be but she couldn't admit it to herself. Her favorite part of herself, well her body, was her smooth back. Linda never failed to notice how a slim dark hand would always trail from her shoulder, to run down her spine with a gentle touch, only to finish at her waist. She wanted her dress for that day to be a special shade of pearl white that every girl dreams of.
Instead she settled for a passionate shade of red. In the end she did this to herself, She knows what that pain is. Linda had known for a long time but she denied it. In her mind if she had "shot her shot", she was afraid she would ruin something good. Funny how she ended up making the same mistakes as her patients. She only has herself to blame but it was too late. Maze had found someone new, she looked so happy when with Eve. Maze had been at her best ever sense she met Eve. She was happier by her side and Linda had seen grate improvements in their latest sessions too.
Linda knew she was going to be happier with Eve and she had no right, or intention, to intrude in Maze's happiness. So why was it so hard now? As she stood their at the end of the aisle with Maze on her shoulder, why did her feet feel like led? Every step she took forward was agony, but she held it all in for Maze's happiness. She looked to Maze and then all the pain was gone.
She knew that she would carry the weight of her failed last chance on her chest, but seeing Maze's smile was worth it; even if it wasn't pointed towards her. As she held Maze on her left shoulder, she laid her other hand on maze's hand. Her steps didn't feel as heavy. This was all for her, For Maze.
As they reached the podium, Linda handed Maze over to Eve. She slid her hand off her shoulder and too her hand, Now came the hard part. With one last big breath, her handed Maze over to Eve. As she held both of their hands in hers, she looked at Eve.
"Take care of her"
It was no more than a whisper but Eve nodded her head. Still keeping their hands in hers, she looked at Maze. She released the breath she was holding, it came out shakier than she wanted. A single tear escaped her eye, The tear that she had kept in for so long finally seeing the light of day. She felt a mixture of morning and guilt, for the imaginary future she could've had if she had taken that step. A bit of Happiness and hopefulness, for all the joy that will be filling Maze's future for long after she has passed. The main component to this big mixture being closure, knowing this was the best path for Maze. Linda was happy, at this moment she knew Maze was going to be okay.
"I love you so much Maze"
Maze tightened her grip on the hold and shook all their hands.
"Aw don't go soft on me doc"
With a smile on all their faces, Linda finally let go. At this moment she knew, the love of her life was going to be okay.
