Naruto couldn’t help but stare at Danzo, the one elder on Hokage-Jiji’s council that he never trusted, the man just seemed far too creepy all the time. Not to forget the feeling of discomfort and agony that seemed to radiate from the left side of his face, it just put him on edge.
It did so when he was still a child, but it got even worse now that he was a teen.
With Tsunade-Baa-Chan out of the count because of her efforts against Pain, this bastard had taken the chance to act as interim Hokage, which sadly meant that Naruto was bound to do what was asked of him.
However, this was not something he could do, no matter who ordered him.
“Could you repeat that, Hokage-Sama?”
Seeing the man sneer at him, he knew that he was thinking like most of the grown-ups in Konoha had been thinking, that he was stupid and simple, and that the fact that he was the Kyuubi Jinchuuriki was the only reason they tollerated him (even if most of the civilian population wanted him dead for what the old fox did on his birthday all thise years ago.”
“What I told you, Shinobi, was to get out there and don’t come back until Uchiha Sasuke is in your grasp. I don’t doubt for a second that the main reason he isn’t back in Konoha yet has to do with you pre warning him for search teams coming his way. So, you get to do that all on your own, without any help, and least of all, without a pass to get back into the village until such a time the both of you are here.
Tsunade might have tolerated this kind of behavior, but I surely won’t. It’s high time the two of you started acting like shinobi, instead of little kids playing a game.”
Naruto gasped at that, “You have no proof of the claims you make, plus I’ve been out of the village for two years, baring the month back, before leaving again when my sensei was murdered by the Akatsuki. How would I even get information about search parties being sent out to Sasuke?”
Danzo didn’t answer, but the look in his eyes didn’t promise a lot of good. It almost felt like the man was setting him up to fail - and for once he didn’t doubt that for a second.
Feeling ANBU closing in, Naruto bit his lip from growling, before turning on his heels and walking out of the gates. If this was how they were going to play it, then he’d just make up his own rules.
He’d find Sasuke, but he wouldn’t for a second ask the older teen to come with him back to Konoha. Not as long as Danzo was in power and misused that power for his own gain.
Looking back once, as soon as he was in the treeline, Naruto knew this would be one of the last times he’d ever see Konoha. Baa-chan wasn’t that well last time he checked, and for all he knew Danzo had her killed while she was healing so he could take over indefinitely. He certainly seemed like the man to do something like that.
Shaking his head, he disappeared into the trees, hoping that his friends would survive the change that was coming towards them.
A subtle hand sign had a toad popping up, taking a letter he had hastily written, before it popped away to Kakashi-sensei. He was sure the man would know what to do with the information Naruto had put in the letter. He might not be that smart, but being on the road with Jiraiya did give him a mediocre knowledge in seals.
Konoha was his home, and he would return there one day, but not as long as his grandparents/godparents weren’t there to welcome him home. With Jiraiya dead, that meant that Tsunade needed to be back on her feet before he would be willing to do so.
Right now, he had an Uchiha to find and persuade to give up on his revenge.
