Work Text:
Oliver never really did like the rain all that much. Well, much less the rain, but more the noise that came with thunderstorms.
More specifically, it was thunder that he didn't like.
It was really why he chose much of the time when he knew that when a storm was coming, that even when he was with someone, would quickly and politely excuse himself, and go to a place where he could be alone. It wasn't as though the Brit wanted anyone to possibly think less of him, more than they likely already did that is. He just preferred to keep certain things to himself, this one specific little thing, being one of them.
He knew it was stupid, but this was one of those instances when he didn't want to give those around him more ammunition for thinking and treating him like he was different. The difference is that he knew that he was different. Whenever he would hear thunder, in particular that horribly booming thunder that could rock even the strongest man to his core, caused Oliver to freeze up.
This time was no different. As the torrential rain beat against the windows and roof of his home, Oliver was there on his couch, snuggled up under a warm blanket with a book and a hot cup of tea, Eleanor Rigby echoing from the record player nearby. Fitting really, that such a song would play now.
He was alone for now.
It was only when that horrible clap of thunder came that caused the Brit to entirely freeze up in his spot only to ease once again after a few seconds. It was moments like this when he wished that he actually had someone here with him.
"All the lonely people
Where do they all come from?
All the lonely people
Where do they all belong?"
"...No truer words have been said Mr. Paul." Saying this in a mumble under his breath with a heavy sigh, snuggling even more so under his blanket and just nursing the warm mug in his hands.
