Work Text:
The perfect Friday afternoon.
Crona sat in class, Mrs. Marie’s class to be exact, as they watched her jot down lessons on the chalkboard down below. The subject today was about weapon-meister history, and about the first weapons and their meisters. The subject seemed interesting enough, they thought, but something much more interesting was merely inches away from them. They glanced over to peek at the person beside them like they do everyday. Maka. In the same seat she always took right next to them. They examined her features from where they sat, her soft blonde hair, beautiful green eyes, lightly freckled skin, and.. her lips. They turned away with a warm face when their eyes reached there. Crona knew they couldn’t be thinking about her lips like that in the middle of class, it would be weird and they needed to pay attention! Picking up their pencil, they tried to direct their attention back to Mrs. Marie, but all they could do was gently tap the pencil against the desk and stare into nothingness.
“Psst!”
Crona was brought out of their trance when someone was trying to get their attention. They looked over to the source of the noise, and ended up staring right at Maka. Their face flushed a bit, but they eyed her questioningly, wondering what she wanted to say. Maka smiled slyly, and motioned with her eyes for them to look down. They raised an eyebrow before looking at where she was directing, and noticed her holding a piece of paper, looking motioning for them to take it. They glanced back up at her before taking the small paper, sharing her small grin. They gulped as they opened the paper, and examined it. Words were written on it.
“Hey you, i’m trying to focus but your cuteness is distracting me!” It read, with a small doodle of Maka grinning, tiny hearts surrounding it. Their eyes went wide, and their face darkened into a shade of red. They cracked a flustered smile as they picked up a pencil to write back.
They noticed Maka taking quick glances at them through the corner of their eye as they scribbled down another note. She was biting her lower lip, obviously anticipating what they’re gonna say. They paused for a moment, before finishing up and setting their pencil down. Crona handed the note back to her the same way she handed it to them, and folded their hands on their desk, mindlessly twiddling their thumbs. They blushed as they thought about what their response was, “Oh! Heh, I'm sorry. It’s not the easiest focusing with you sitting next to me either!” They hoped she would take that the right way, pretty much calling her cute as well. Maka finished reading and looked up, a fresh blush coating her features. Crona smiled at her, happy that they were able to make her blush. Maka’s so cute when she blushes.. They thought.
The rest of the class went on like that, passing each other notes and only half listening to Mrs. Marie’s lecture. Crona loved having class with Maka, goofing off and sharing secret messages only the two of them would see. They were so happy, for the first time ever, they were completely satisfied with their life. Medusa being dead, the kishin being defeated, and returning to school with the girl of their dreams, things were perfect. Crona never imagined their life being so peaceful, but thanks to Maka and their friends, their life was changed for the better. Their thoughts swirled with appreciation and love while they packed up their things, getting ready to leave for the day. Maka and the others were also packing up, ready to go home for the day.
“Hey lovebirds, I saw you two passing notes literally all class, what’s so secretive eh?” A voice pulled Crona out of their deep thinking as they looked over.
“None of your business, Soul!” Maka snapped back, getting defensive of her secret note passing with Crona. Soul just shrugged it off with a smirk, almost knowingly.
The group walked down from their seats and headed to the door and out into the hallway, all except Maka. Crona turned around from the chattering group of their friends and eyed her questioningly, walking back in. “Hey, something wrong?” They asked, worry building up in their chest. This worry died down, however, when Maka grabbed their hand and pulled them down to her height so she could mumble something. “Do you.. maybe wanna get some milkshakes after school? I-If it’s okay with Marie.. for you to leave?” She asked, her face turning a light red. Crona blinked at her for a second, before a smile tugged at their lips. “I would love to, Maka!” They chirped, their own face feeling a bit warm. Maka bounced a bit from where she was standing, obviously excited, practically beaming back up at them. It was adorable. “Great!! Should we ask Mrs. Marie now?” She said a second later, gesturing to the teacher’s desk behind them. Crona nodded as they followed her over.
Mrs. Marie was shuffling up and organizing papers when the two approached her desk, she was obviously preoccupied with what she was doing. Desperate to get an answer at that moment, Maka cleared her throat and spoke to Mrs. Marie to grab her attention.
“Umm.. excuse me? Mrs. Marie?” Maka said, her feet shuffling on the ground.
Mrs. Marie looked up from what she was doing upon hearing Maka’s voice. “Oh Maka! Crona! Hello you two, so sorry about getting distracted, what can I do for you?” She asked, setting the papers down and refocusing her attention on the two meisters.
Maka and Crona just shot glances to each other bashfully before speaking at the same time.
“We were wondering! -” They blurted out at once. They chuckled lightly, before refocusing. “We were wondering if it’s okay if Crona went out with me to grab some milkshakes at the nearby diner in town, I’ll have them back before 8pm, I promise!” Maka was the one to speak this time, feeling confident in her words. Crona took her hand and squeezed it, hoping Mrs. Marie would say yes.
“Oh of course! You two sweethearts go out and have fun, I trust Crona with you, Maka.” Mrs. Marie smiled at them. Crona and Maka’s tensions ceased at the approval.
“But please do make it back before it gets too late, I want you both out of the streets safe and sound!” She added. The meisters nodded to affirm that they would, and thanked Marie with grateful smiles. Crona decided to give her a quick hug before they walked off, feeling much closer with Marie enough to do that now.
Walking through the halls, Maka and Crona discussed the upcoming night and how it would go, making plans with excited giggles and smiles. “I’ll pick you up at the laboratory, and we can walk to the diner from there, it’s an easy distance and I think a calm walk through the city would be nice.” Maka stated her ideal plan to Crona, who was listening intently. They nodded, the thought of holding Maka’s hand while walking down the streets of Death City while the sun went down made their heart race in the best way possible.
Finally reaching the end of the staircase that led up to the academy, Crona and Maka stood for a moment to catch their breaths, and to go over the plan one more time. “So, i’ll pick you up at 6:20 pm, we can walk to the diner, hang out there, walk back, and maybe I can stay over for a bit before going home!” Maka excitedly recounted the plan to Crona. They nodded, and smiled at her, feeling excitement bubble in their system as well. They were so happy to spend some normal time with Maka, even though it happened more often these days. After a moment of standing there, Maka grabbed their hands and pulled them in for a hug, which Crona gladly accepted and hugged her back. The hug lasted only a minute before they parted, faces somewhat red. Saying their goodbyes and “see you later!”’s, the two walked off in different directions, anxious to get ready for the night.

6:20 pm
“Maka! You’re gonna be late for your fruity little date with Crona! Get your gay ass in here will ya?” Soul yelled from where he sat at the kitchen table, in his pajamas already.
The door to Maka’s room swung open as she stepped out, clearly annoyed with how Soul described her upcoming night. She wore a simple dark burgundy short sleeved shirt with a white collar, a belt, and a green striped skirt. There were also little cream colored bows in her hair, holding in her pigtails. Everything seemed to be different about her outfit, even her shoes, mary janes type with frilled socks. She had her arms crossed at soul as she eyed him, her expression seeming challenging.
“What?”
“Do you really have to call our… date.. ‘fruity’?” She asked, her foot tapping against the ground in irritation.
“Well duh, it is fruity.” Soul just shrugged. Maka sighed and rolled her eyes, fighting back a red face full of embarrassment.
Soul put down the pencil he was using to finish some schoolwork and leaned back in his chair. “Well you better get going then.” He said nonchalantly. Maka unfolded her crossed arms and nodded, making her way over to the door, before stopping.
“Hey Soul?”
“Hm?” Soul looked over from where he sat.
“Wish me luck, okay?” Maka said, anticipation glistening in her eyes. Soul chuckled, and his sharp teeth flashed through a smile.
“Good luck, ya lovesick moron.” He called her a name affectionately. Maka just shook her head with a smile before opening the door and exiting the room, closing the door behind her.
Maka approached the laboratory as she walked down the street, excitement buzzing in her stomach. She wondered if Crona would be wearing something different for their date as well, the image of them in any different clothes made her face grow warm. The possibility of seeing Crona in a cute outfit energized her, as she sprinted the rest of the way up to the lab. She approached the door and waited a few seconds before knocking, gnawing at her lower lip. Maka knocked on the door three time before taking a step back, hands neatly folding behind her back as she waited for an answer. After a brief moment, the doorknob to one of the two doors wriggled, and the door opened to Crona. Maka felt her breath hitch as they stepped out from behind the door.
Crona stood in front of the doors, and gave her a small yet nervous smile. Maka gazed over their outfit and felt her stomach flip with affection. They wore a baggy dark grey sweater with red stripes on it, and a white collar sticking out from under it, insinuating that they were wearing a shirt underneath. They also had on a long black skirt that reached to their ankles, and the same black shoes they always wore. She noticed that they had black painted nails now as well, and assumed that was the doing of Marie. Crona nervously fidgeted with their hands, obviously anticipating what Maka would say about their new outfit. Maka continued to stare in awe for a few seconds before finally deciding to say something.
“Crona you .. you look amazing! That outfit is so cute..” She said, her expression softening.
“Oh! Umm.. thank you Maka..” Crona blushed at the compliment. “You look really pretty too..” They complimented her as well, smiling as they examined her outfit. Maka chuckled. “Aww.. thank you!”
“You ready to go now?” Maka asked, holding out a hand with a smile. Crona nodded and took her hand, stepping down the couple sets of stairs and standing next to her. They informed her that they already told Marie that they were leaving, and the two started to walk away from the lab and onto the sidewalk that would lead into town. Hand-in-hand, they ventured through the streets of Death City, taking in their surroundings. Death City at night was something to see, the dim lights of houses and street poles giving the area a comforting glow, and the breeze that came with the beginning of fall made it all the more scenic and peaceful. Crona let themself take in a breath, and let it out with a sigh, feeling more than content with their surroundings. The silence between them and Maka was apparent, but comfortable. Neither felt like they had to say anything to make the walk to the diner enjoyable.
Their walk came to an end, however, when they finally reached their destination. Still holding her hand, Crona followed Maka into the diner, which had a nice warm lighting to it thanks to the sunset outside. They examined the area, seeing a nice layout of booths and tables, only a few civilians occupying them. It smelled like fried food, and soft music played in the background.. They looked down to Maka who had a grin on her face, looking around the diner as well. She glanced at them before leading them over to a seat near a corner of the room, away from other people. The seat was near a window, so they could see outside into the street, which was a nice enough view. The two took their seats in the abnormally high chairs, and sat so they were next to each other. They bashfully made eye contact before looking away. Maka took their hand under the table, which made their breath get caught in their throat.
Crona looked like they wanted to say something before a waitress came over with a notepad, smiling politely at the couple.
“Hello there! What can I get for you two this evening?” She asked.
“Hi! Umm..” Maka hesitated, and glanced at Crona. “Just a second please?” She turned back to the waitress, an awkward smile appearing on her face. “That’s fine dear, take your time!” The waitress responded with a smile.
“Crona, I don’t think I have enough money to get two, I think we have to share one.” Maka said in a hushed voice to them. Crona felt their face grow slightly warm as they processed what she told them, but they nodded. “That’s okay, Maka!” They said, not meaning to be as loud as they sounded.
Maka giggled. “So what flavor do you want? Any is fine with me!” She said, refocusing.
Crona pondered this for a second before answering. “Could we get strawberry?” Maka nodded. “Mhm!” She hummed in approval, before facing the waitress again.
“One strawberry milkshake, please! Two straws with that.” Maka said, confidently stating her order. The waitress scribbled it down on her notepad and nodded. “Alrighty! One milkshake coming up.” She gave a tip of her uniform hat before walking off.
Crona and Maka were left alone to wait on their order. They awkwardly sat there for a few moments, wondering who should speak first, and what the conversation topic should be. To Maka’s surprise, Crona was the one to speak first.
“This diner is so cozy, I've never been to a place like this before.” They said, gazing around the area.
“It sure is,” Maka agreed, “and it’s no surprise you haven’t been to someplace like this, but I'm glad I get to be the one to show you! It’s a first of many good memories to come.” She said, squeezing their hand.
Crona smiled at her, feeling the tingle of make believe butterflies in their stomach. “Y-Yeah.. I’m glad I get to share it with you, Maka..” They squeezed her hand back, causing her to look down and then back up, her face turning a light pink.
“Heh.. y’know, we’ll get to do all kinds of fun things like this, now that everything has settled down. Maybe we can go shopping or go to the bookstore,” Maka pondered aloud, “or a road trip to a beach would be fun!” She said, grinning in excitement of all the possibilities. Crona stared in wonder at her last suggestion, a beach.
“Like where.. where we met?”
Maka’s expression softened as she eyed them for a moment, and smiled. “Yea.. like where we met.” She looked down and rubbed her thumb over their hand, revisiting the fond memory in her head. She was so glad she made the decision to reach out to them that day, or else they wouldn’t be here right now, safe and happy with her.
Looking back up again, Maka saw that Crona was staring at her as if she was the only thing in the world that mattered. Eyes growing a bit wide, she gazed back at them, not needing a mirror to know how red her face was at that moment. Her eyes shifted down an inch at their slightly parted mouth, and at that instant she wanted one thing and one thing only. Taking in a breath, she leaned in towards them, slowly, before their moment was interrupted at the last second.
“Hey hey your order has arrived!” The waitress from earlier announced, holding the milkshake on a platter.
Jumping away from Crona’s face, Maka composed herself before straightening up in her seat, a flustered and awkward smile plastered on her face. “OH! Heh! Umm thank you! We appreci- ahem appreciate it!”
The waitress just gave a knowing smile and placed the milkshake down onto the middle of the table. “Need anything else before I go?” She asked a second later, placing the platter underneath her arm.
“No thank you! We’re fine!” Maka said, still feeling a bit awkward.
“Alrighty! Well then enjoy your shake, you two.” The waitress winked before turning and walking off. Maka felt her face get hotter than it already was, sinking in her chair a bit. She glanced over to Crona and saw they were even a bit flustered, their face red and their body tense. They gulped, and turned to look at her, trying to crack a smile. Maka just started laughing, the awkwardness leaving her body, and to her relief Crona started laughing too.
Laughter dying down, the two examined the milkshake in front of them, which looked delicious. Placed in a typical diner style milkshake glass, the pink dessert had whipped cream, a cherry on top, and two bendy straws stuck in either side. Taking the straw on her side, Maka leaned over and took a sip, and pulled away a second later, smiling at the tasty flavor. Crona hesitantly eyed the straw before copying Maka, taking it in their fingers and sipping from it as well. A hum of delight escaped before they sat up, and licked their lips, causing Maka’s heart to do a little flip. Their eyes grew wide as they took in another sip, obviously enjoying the shake. Maka couldn’t help but giggle at the wholesome sight, Crona trying a milkshake for the first time was certainly something she would remember.
“You like the milkshake, Crona?” Maka asked the obvious, a smirk appearing on her face. Crona just looked over at her, straw still in their mouth as they nodded. “Mmmhm!”
Taking a few more sips from her side, Maka examined the milkshake as something in her head clicked. She glanced over at Crona, and gulped, feeling confident enough in her flirting abilities.
“Hey Crona, you know what this milkshake reminds me of?” She asked, fidgeting with her hands under the table.
Crona sat up and gulped down their last sip, turning to Maka, a questioning look appearing in their features. “Hm? What does it remind you of, Maka?” They asked.
“You..” Maka glanced away for a second before looking back. “It’s pink, like your hair.. and it’s sweet just like you!”
Clearly caught off guard with the sudden flirt, Crona’s eyes grew wide and their face grew as pink as their own hair. They tried to gain composure as they looked away bashfully, fidgeting with their sweater. “R-Really…?” They mumbled, flattered and flustered. Maka’s face broke out into a wide smile she could hardly contain, seeing Crona so blushy and shy was one of the cutest things she had ever seen.
Taking one of Crona’s hands, she beamed up at them. “Yes really, you goofball.” Loving the reaction she has been getting so far, and feeling extra confident, Maka lifted the hand she was holding and gave a small kiss to it, and sat up to get their reaction. It was nothing short of adorable, as Crona gasped and looked away, face going from a pink to a shade of red in an instant. They were trying to hide a forming smile on their face, unable to contain their giddiness. Maka had never seen such a precious sight, she decided she always wanted to fluster Crona with flirts and kisses.
Putting their hand down, and trying to contain a giggle, she resumed her milkshake drinking. Glancing over to Crona, she smiled to herself at the state that they were left in, which was total breathlessness. They clumsily grabbed their straw and drank from it, a huge smile plastered on their face as they did so. As the couple drank and chatted in between sips, the milkshake was steadily going down, lessening by the minute.
Crona glanced over to Maka every so often, taking in how pretty she was. They were so content and happy here, this night was perfect in every single way possible. Maka was so enticing, and the way she flirted with them made it even better. They hoped that she would always flirt with them like that, being so confident and romantic. Maka seemed to notice that they were staring, so she sat up and smiled at them with one raised eyebrow.
“See something interesting?” She asked, clearly still in her flirty mood. Crona’s stomach did somersaults.
"Well I… Uh.. Yes…” Crona started, glancing over at her. “....You.”
Maka’s sly expression turned into one of slight surprise as she stared, then glanced away. “Heh.. I told you you were sweet, Crona.” She said through a smile, softening her gaze.
Crona just blushed at that statement as they fiddled with their straw. “You’re sweet too, Maka. The sweetest person I know.”
Giggling with a hand half over her mouth, Maka felt her heart swell with pure happiness. This back and forth style flirting happened over more sipping from their straws, both of them certainly in a romantic mood now thanks to Maka’s initial confidence.
The milkshake now halfway gone, Crona was noticing that they were getting even closer to Maka everytime they both took a sip. This realization caused them to anticipate every new drink they would take, wondering how close they could possibly get to her. One more short break of chatter and Crona was yet again taking another sip from their bendy straw, Maka doing the same. They decided to close their eyes like she was doing, and not focus on the incoming closeness of her. Continuing to take in the strawberry taste of the dessert, Crona stopped when they felt something hit the tip of their nose. They opened their eyes, and was mere inches away from Maka’s face, looking directly into her green eyes that stared back at them with the same curiosity. It took them a second to realize, but they were touching noses with Maka, that’s how close they had gotten while drinking.
“Ah!” Crona jolted away with a small shriek, clearly flustered. They looked away with a face as red as a rose, a cracked smile threatening to appear. Maka sat up with wide eyes as she fiddled with her skirt, feeling her heart start to race. They both looked at each other a moment later, and smiled, those smiles turning into fits of giggles and laughter.
“We accidentally booped each other..” Maka said, chuckling.
“Booped?” Crona repeated, clearly not understanding the cute slang.
“Yeah y’know,” Maka raised her hand to point her finger, and gave Crona a light tap right on their nose, “boop!”
Crona squeaked and touched their nose, taken back by the cute gesture. They looked at Maka before hesitantly pointing a finger, and did the same to her.
“Boop!”
Maka giggled. “Yeah you got it!”
Softening, Crona reached under the table and took her hand. Maka returned the gesture by wrapping her fingers around theirs, rubbing a finger soothingly over their skin. They returned to drinking the milkshake, only a few sips worth left of it, and continued to hold hands under the table while doing so. Sitting up, Crona examined the glass and realized the only thing left of the shake, really, was the cherry. Maka reached in to grab it by the stem, and reached it out to Crona.
“Here Crona, you can have the cherry!” She said with a smile, generously offering it to them. They stared at the cherry and then back to Maka, raising an eyebrow.
“Are you sure you don’t want it, Maka?” They asked, wanting to give her a chance to take it. Maka just shook her head.
“It’s okay, really! You can have it, I don't mind giving up a cherry for my sweetheart.” Maka used the affectionate pet name on them with a flutter of her eyes, clearly trying to be cute so they would take it easier. This method worked, and Crona accepted the cherry while a blush entered their cheeks. They hoped that there were more pet names where that came from.
Biting the cherry off and placing the stem on a napkin, Crona was satisfied with the sweet ending to the milkshake, and was happy they could finally try such a tasty dessert. Wiping off the table with a napkin, Maka was readying to wrap things up at the diner before she stopped, her eyed fixated towards something on Crona’s face. Staring at Maka with questioning eyes, they reached a hand to wipe off the side of their face. Maka shook her head and grabbed another napkin.
“Stay still.” She ordered calmly, before reaching over and swiping the napkin over the corner of Crona’s mouth. Pulling the napkin away, she looked satisfied and placed it back down. “There! Remaining milkshake is gone.”
Crona looked a bit dumbfounded, and lightly touched the side of their face.
Picking up the trash from the table, Maka got up and threw it in a nearby garbage can and sat back down. She dug through a pocket in the skirt she had on and pulled out a small yet handy wallet, and took out $15. She placed it on the table as pay for the milkshake, and reached in one more time to take out an extra dollar bill, placing it next to the money for the shake as a tip for the nice waitress.
“Alrighty Crona, you ready to go?” She asked, turning back to them. Crona gave her a small smile and nodded. “Yeah,” they looked outside the window before finishing, “it’s dark out by now.” Maka agreed with a nod and got up from her chair.
Going around and reaching out to take Crona’s hand again, Maka led them through the diner and up to the door, waving at the nice waitress before opening it and heading outside. Maka and Crona stepped outside into the night, the moon fully up by now. With nighttime came the colder breeze, so Maka felt chilled with the lack of a jacket or long pants on. Crona noticed that she was visibly chilly, and took off their sweater, deciding to let her wear it to warm her up. She looked over at them with a slightly surprised look on her face, and raised up a hand.
“It’s okay Crona you don't have to do that, I don’t want you cold!” Maka said, smiling at the kind offer.
“I insist Maka, please take it. I’ll be fine, I don't really mind the chill.” Crona shrugged nonchalantly as they insisted, smiling to help enforce that it was okay.
Maka hesitantly reached out to grab the sweater, taking Crona’s offer. She held the sweater for a moment, taking in the fact that this was an article of their clothing, something she was about to wear was just being worn by Crona themself. Her face heated up as she realized this, and put the sweater on. It was a bit long on her, but otherwise it fit the same way it did on Crona. Baggy, warm, and soft. She glanced over at them with a smile, feeling a bit bashful and flustered. They smiled back at her, appreciating how cute she looked in it. Crona reached out to take her hand, as Maka gratefully accepted, intertwining her fingers with theirs.
“I can walk you home first if you like, Maka.” Crona offered before they started walking off. Maka’s eyebrows raised a bit, taking in the suggestion. She smiled to herself as she looked down. “That would be nice, thank you Crona.”
The two started walking in the direction of Maka’s apartment, which was closer than the lab, so the walk was shorter and easier. Still feeling a bit chilled, Maka leaned in to walk closer to Crona, so their arms were touching. Crona realized this, and got an idea, before letting go of Maka’s hand and instead wrapping their arm around her shoulders as they walked. Maka’s face grew hot as she looked at her shoulders and then back at Crona with wide eyes, in which they were smiling back at her with a soft look in their features. What in Death’s name did I do to deserve this sweetheart of a meister? Maka wondered to herself silently.
Continuing to walk just like that, the two were absolutely content, Maka no longer needing any more sources of warmth, since her entire body felt warm from the gestures of Crona. A few blocks and a couple turns later, they arrived at the door to Maka’s apartment. Crona felt a tinge of sadness that this night had to end so soon, they didn’t want to separate from her, but they knew they would see her tomorrow one way or another. Hesitantly, they took their arm off of her shoulders, and walked with her a few more steps to reach the door. They let out a sigh as they looked down to her, and saw that she was looking right back at them, seeming to share the same thoughts, not wanting to separate just yet.
“Well, I guess this is goodbye, for tonight..” Maka spoke, a small amount of sadness in her tone. Crona nodded, and rubbed one of their arms with the other.
“Yeah.. I had lots of fun though!” Crona responded, trying to make the situation a little better. It worked, in a way, when a smile appeared on Maka’s face.
“Yeah, I did too!” She chirped. “I hope we get to do fun stuff like that all the time, maybe we can try tomorrow! If it isn’t too soon..”
Crona chuckled. “That’s not too soon at all! I would love to.. Maka.”
The meisters stood there for a moment, Maka was smiling to herself, looking to be recounting the wonderful events of the night. Crona thought about the wonderful moments, too, and remembered one of the very first things that happened when they settled in. When Maka was leaning into them like that. Their heart raced as the memory flashed in their mind, and they looked over to Maka, who was still in that little trance.
I can finish the job..
Crona reached over and took Maka’s hands in theirs, bringing her out of her thoughts. They leaned down and got closer to her, gazing at her with a smitten and lovestruck expression, causing her eyes to widen and her heart to race. Taking in a shaky breath, Crona squeezed her hands just a bit, before leaning down a few inches further. A moment later, they were kissing her, softly at first, before Maka caught on and reached her arms around their neck to deepen the kiss just a bit. Not having hands to hold anymore, Crona decided to wrap their arms around her waist instead. They stayed like this for a moment, neither one of them seeming to want to let go. Unfortunately it had to end eventually, so they both pulled away at the same time.
Trying to catch their breaths, Crona and Maka stood there for a moment, arms still in the places around each other. Maka glanced down on the ground and giggled, mindlessly playing with the back of Crona’s hair. Her face was a deep shade of red, which matched with Crona’s face as well. Both of them burst into a fit of laughter, while embracing each other into a comfortable hug. They let go after a few minutes, taking in each other’s presence, and completely separated. This wasn’t the first time they’ve kissed, but it was still relatively new, so both were quite flustered and feeling giddy. Kissing Maka was something Crona will never ever get tired of, and they hoped they’d be able to share another tomorrow.
“Heh.. that was really nice..” Maka spoke, breaking Crona from their thoughts.
“Y-Yeah.. It was..”
Holding an arm with another behind her back, Maka reached up and gave Crona a quick kiss to the cheek. “Well, I better get going now, Soul’s gonna kick my ass if I'm not inside before midnight. Marie won’t be happy either.” She pointed out.
Crona took a second to process the cheek kiss before they realized what Maka said about Marie.
“OH SHIT!” They cursed, taking Maka by surprise. They covered their mouth with a blush of embarrassment. “Maka, what time is it??”
“Umm..” Maka raised an arm to take a look at a small wrist watch, “around 7:40?”
“Ah! Jeez I gotta get home, Marie won’t be happy! I don’t want her to worry..” Crona said in a frenzy. Maka took their hand and smiled at them sympathetically. “It’s okay, you’ll make it in time. Get going, silly!” She insisted with a playful edge to her tone.
Nodding, Crona turned to run off to the sidewalk, and stopped to look at Maka. She was smiling at them with an expression of love and affection. Crona thought about something they’ve seen other couples do, so they blew a kiss to her as a special way of saying goodbye. Maka was taken back by this gesture, but accepted it by acting like she caught a real kiss, and put it to her heart dramatically. Crona laughed before waving goodbye to her. Maka waved back, and watched as they took off in a sprint to get back to the lab in time. Lovestruck, happy, and a bit sleepy, Maka opened the door to her apartment and walked in, closing it behind her.
🍨 - 🍨 - 🍨
Later that evening, Crona laid in their bed in their own room at the laboratory, unable to sleep because of all the fond memories of the night with Maka. They were so excited to have more adventures with her tomorrow.
Hmm.. Maka has a similarity with the milkshake as well. They thought,
I just can’t get enough of her.
