Work Text:
Cheng Xiaoshi struggled to stand up, feeling an aching pain in his left hip, making it a challenge for him to stand up.
It was already mid-day, yet all he had done was lie down due to what had happened yesterday. The incident leaving him with multiple scars and bruises, which he tried his best to cover with clothing and foundation.
However, no amount of foundation or clothing could cover the discomfort he felt even when he only slightly moved. He needed to get up and get a cup of water, and preferably some Advil while he was at it. This proved to be quite difficult though as the strain on his hip got worse while standing up.
Only then, did he realize that standing up felt fatal, but his throat felt so dry, most likely due to how he hadn’t had any water before yesterday. He leaned onto the door frame for support, trying to minimize the pressure he put onto the left side of his body. There was an obvious limp in his step, and it was quite hard to ignore.
“Cheng Xiaoshi,” Lu Guang called out as Xiaoshi entered the kitchen, “Why are you limping?” He questioned, “Not enough sleep?”
“Uh… nothing,” he stuttered, “I’m just gonna get a cup of water,” he attempted to walk as normally as he could, but to no avail.
He grabbed a cup from the cupboards, running it under cold water and drinking it in one fluid motion. In the small kitchen, Lu Guang brushed by, causing Xiaoshi to wince a bit at the pain his bruise caused.
Lu Guang looked at him in a confused manner, “Cheng Xiaoshi? Are you okay?” He asked.
“Of course I am, why would you ask-” He flinched as Lu Guang lifted up the side of his shirt, revealing a bruise as large as his fist.
“Is this the only bruise?” He inquired, worry in his eyes. The latter only shook his head. Lu Guang let out a sigh.
“Cheng Xiaoshi, how did this happen?” He asked, his questions seemed never-ending.
He didn’t know why, but this question caused a sudden wave of tears to come out of his eyes.
Lu Guang sitting there, patting his back, “Sh… it’s going to be okay,” he comforted.
“Go lie down, I’ll get you some water and painkillers,” he offered.
Xiaoshi sniffled for a second, “Thank you,” his voice was hoarse.
"You're welcome," Lu Guang replied, softness in his voice.
