Fictober Prompt 3/Fictober Prompt 30

Summary:

Fictober Prompt 3: “I’ve been waiting for this.”

Notes:

What can I say, the prompt brought me back to the first kiss, again. Oops.

Chapter Text

Amanda Rollins is kissing him. If he’s dreaming, Dominick Carisi does not want to wake up. A thousand things run through his mind, but the loudest was “I’ve been waiting for this.”

Dominick wisely refrains from blurting out this and everything else running through his mind.

Finally. I love you. Marry me. Yessssss. Shit, I have to work. I’ve been waiting so long. What will Jesse and Billie think? What will Ma think? Can anyone see us? So, so, long. Who can see us. I don’t care who can see us. Is she really kissing me? Am I dreaming?

He desperately tries to quiet his mind and just enjoy what was happening. The feel of her lips on his, his hand touching her cheek, her blonde hair like silk through his fingers, her grip on his neck, on his tie.

Amanda Rollins was kissing him and it felt like home.

When they broke apart, he looked in her eyes, waiting for the other shoe to drop, but it never does.

She links her arm in his and they rejoin the party. They both know he’s needed for a meeting on the Machado case, and in their unspoken language they make their goodbyes together, something they’ve done so many times, no one finds it strange.

They are quiet on their trip to the courthouse, neither ready to take on what just happened. Dominick is treading lightly, still afraid to blurt out everything he’s felt for years, wisely letting his words on the water be his only declaration of the evening, waiting as always for Amanda to make the next move. He smiles at her broadly but almost shyly each time their eyes meet.

They arrive at the courthouse and before he knows what’s happening, they’re kissing again.

Finally. I love you. Marry me. Yessssss. Shit, I still have to work. I’ve been waiting so long. What will Jesse and Billie think? What will Ma think? Can anyone see us? So, so, long. Who can see us. I don’t care who can see us. Is she really kissing me? Am I dreaming? Dammit, I never want to work again.

She voices some of what he’s already feeling, calms his fears about being seen, and finally, shy and tentative asks about their future “…and tomorrow?”

Breathless, he captures her lips for the last time before the meeting with the southern district. He grins wide and tells her: “Are you kidding me? I’ve been waiting for this.”
