Day 1
First Kindness
It was raining, that night.
His muscles and bones were hurting because of the moisture of that underground dungeon. Curled up in his bed and wrapped in blankets, Eren was looking for some warmness. His body was shaking, hands and feets were cold, his cheeks and nose blushed. A sound of steps caught his attention. He even stopped breathing, but when he heard the door opening, he suddenly sat up. Levi came closer to the young soldier, that was trembling because of the cold. He was holding a lantern into one of his hands, in the other he was holding a length of cloth.
«Captain Levi...»
The elder threw the cloth to Eren, and at that moment he found out that it was a wool blanket. «Petra begged me to bring this to you.» the captain said. «It looks like she’s worried about you to catching a cold. It would really be a trouble.»
Eren felt something like a heat spreading into his chest. He covered himself better with the second blanket and he finally started to feel less the cold of the prison.
«Bring my thanks to Petra.» Eren answered, smiling. «And I thank you, Sir, for bothering to bring this here to me.»
«I should have come here anyway.»
These words were full of mystery, so that Eren deluded himself to think that he had done this out of kindness.
But Levi knew how much cold and moisture could there be in the underground because of the rain. For many years he lived in the underground city’s slums, he was used to that frost. Actually, Petra had nothing to do with that story. That kindness only belonged to Levi, the first one addressed to Eren.
«Rest, now. I want you awake and ready for the morning cleaning in a few hours.»
«Yes, Sir!» Eren layed down like he received an order. Levi smiled and got out of the cell, going up on the stairs with the only light of his lantern.
Eren heard him walk away and closed his eyes. He pulled the blankets up and felt the warmness invading mind and body. And then a scent came over his nose. The fabric had a good smell on and Eren inexplicably connected that perfume to Captain Levi.
