Work Text:

It's strange. It's really strange and amusing how everything can get out of control, away from your hands, even if you thought it can't at this point. That fact goes to victories, "Never celebrate until you are perfectly sure the victory is in the bag." they say and that's true. Because you never know what kind of sharp turn will be waiting for you on a path to said victory-

Servais always feared the Feaster, especially when God was furious. It wasn’t Hunter’s form, but it was his nature. A great, intimidating, and powerful Eldritch God… You never know what hides under the hood of such an unknown creature, what it thinks, and how and why it acts. But today it was clear. Despite his perhaps questionable personality Le Roy never taunted Hunters, ever. There is no point in pissing off scary and powerful creatures, who are already meant to be killing you in brutal and twisted ways, but that basic knowledge wasn't given to everyone. Magician was hiding behind a rock and listening to screams of pain and agony of his teammates who taunted the Feaster earlier. Back then they laughed, but now they were pleading for him to stop. The growls and roars mixed with the screams of other Survivors, sounds of flesh tearing and blood splattering gave Servais chills. He was shivering from fear, not knowing what to do now. Was his fate going to be the same? Most likely...

Soon enough the noises completely stopped and Magician heard the slithering getting away. Did Feaster pacify his rage? Or did he go off to find the Magician? Servais didn't know but didn't dare to move just yet. He wanted to collect himself before he could run to the gate to finish opening it... He would need to act quickly since he was the last standing Survivor, so crows would gather above him soon and-

…drip...drip...drip…

Droplets of blood were falling down on Servais' hat and shoulders, Magician tensed up and froze in place. He could hear a low, growly breathing, he could hear a slow slithering and finally a hissing... Tentacles started to slide down the rock and coil around to form a cage from which the Survivor would not escape.

-"No... no...", - Magician whispered as with a side of his eye he could see the Feaster himself getting off the rock and crawling to Servais, so now he was standing and looming in front of the man. Blood was dripping off of Feaster's hood, his robes were soaked in it, he still seemed furious as tentacles started to rise up and some started to slide towards Magician.

-"Please, don't do this...", - Servais finally found the strength to look up into Hunter's eyes. So... alive, yet dead... So bright, yet dim... Wise, yet furious... Magician felt like Hastur was staring right into his soul, - "I did bad things in my life... I lied, hid the truth... Someone died because of me… I could be rude and egoistic... I confess this... I allow my anger to take me over, I act on impulse, and that causes people around me to suffer… Please forgive my sins... have mercy on me... I'm not asking to be left alive, but I'm asking for a peaceful death...", - Magician pleaded, not daring to look away from Hunter's gaze as he felt the cold sweat running down his forehead and cheeks. From this situation, Servais felt like his lungs were about to collapse and his heart was about to stop…

Tentacles stopped as they were about to wrap around Magician's feet. Feaster was looking down at Servais with his cold and slightly haughty gaze, before he leaned down and took Magician by the neck, slowly lifting him up. That made Survivor cough and choke slightly as he was lifted up to Hastur’s eye level, feet nowhere near the ground as they loosely dangled in the air.

-"Please...", - Magician whispered softly before closing his eyes. Feaster tilted his head, looking all over Servais and carefully rubbing his cheek with a thumb before-

Le Roy fell down onto the ground, coughing and holding his neck, but before he could collect himself tentacles wrapped around his body carefully, squeezing him a little, before lifting Magician up and holding him near Hastur himself. Servais was scared and confused as Feaster started to drag him away somewhere. What did Hunter have on his mind?... What is he going to do to him? Chair? Bleed him out? ... or something...worse?... Torture?...

Le Roy didn't get a chance to finish his thoughts as he was carefully put down onto the ground near an open dungeon. ... Was this true?... Was this actually happening?... Or was it a trick?... Servais looked up at the Feaster with confusion in his eyes, as in asking if the Hunter is letting him go. Hastur only carefully nudged him closer to the dungeon, humming softly and a bit raspy.

-"I know this is still a win for you, but...why are you letting me go?...", - Magician asked as he looked up at the King in Yellow. -"There are things that I shall not voice.", - Feaster replied with a raspy and a bit scary voice after some time of deadly silence, - "Go, Servais Le Roy. I'm not going to harm you."

Magician was slightly stunned by that, not being able to find any words for the situation he was in. Hastur the Feaster, the King in Yellow himself, was letting him go? He really wanted to stay and ask about this situation more, he wanted to know why and how he was the one spared in this match... But the time was running out, and, probably, so was Hastur's patience.

-"Thank you... Thank you very much... Hastur...", - after whispering that Servais jumped down the dungeon, and Hastur only bowed slowly before the match ended, smiling a bit. But Servais didn't get to see that and didn't get to hear "You're welcome".

Notes:

Again, a short one I wrote long ago. This is basically how Hastur's and Servais' relationship started.
