Work Text:
It was another one of those nights where Bobal could not just fall asleep, no matter how hard he tried.
Tossing and turning, sleeping from different angles, drinking tea, suffocating himself with pillows and blankets, none of it seemed to work on him, and it frustrated him so much.
He glanced at his digital alarm clock on his bedside table.
11:02 PM.
Bobal grumbled and let out a loud sigh, before running a hand through his untamed hair. He decided to get up from his bed and go outside. A breath of fresh air and pretty stars to look at didn’t sound too bad.
He pondered on whether to tie his hair up or not, but considering nobody else was going to see him (and it was just going to be himself), Bobal decided it wasn’t worth the trouble. With tired eyes, he turned the doorknob of his door, not exactly being considerate of everyone sleeping, making the loudest creaks and bumping into various things then afterwards cursing loudly. (Yeah, not exactly the most considerate.)
He made his way down the stairs to the front door, opening it, immediately getting a chill when the cold night breeze hit his skin. Maybe he should have brought a sweater, but it was too late to go back up now, he was only going to stay for a few minutes anyways.
Bobal closed the door behind him, he sat down on one of the steps on the stairway that led up to the front porch and when he finally looked up, Oh, it was a breathtaking view. The stars glimmered so brightly this night, and the only thing that filled the sound of noise was the rustling of trees that was caused by the night breeze. It was truly the perfect place for some quiet alone time.
Bobal didn’t enjoy activities like these very much where it was just by himself, but once in a while wasn’t all too bad. Plus, the scenery was pleasant to the eyes, and he certainly wasn’t going to complain.
He propped his elbow up on one knee, his hand cupping his cheek as he continued to stare up into the night sky in silence.
“Hey.”
“FUCK I-” Bobal swiftly turned around at the sudden noise in surprise, coming into view with a very familiar face.
“Bofo…? Is that you’re stupid face I’m seeing right now? You scared the shit out of me! Ugh…” Bobal grumbled, trying to calm down to get his heart to stop racing.
The latter walked up to him, continuing to stand as he peered down at Bobal.
“What’re you doing out here? It’s almost 11:30, and it’s freezing out here. You don’t even have a sweater on- It’ll be your fault if you catch a cold you know, ” Bofo stated, before he sat down next to his friend with what remaining space there was.
“Shut the hell up- I couldn’t sleep, so I wanted to go outside. I didn’t know it’d be this cold.” Bobal glared at the other, crossing his arms as he did so.
“You’re going to get sick though.”
“No, I’m not, you dumbass! It’s not even that co-” Bobal gave a small sneeze, very shortly afterwards he shivered. Goddamit, why did his words have to betray him like that?
He could hear the robot chuckle amusingly. The shorter one held up a finger, trying to prevent him from saying something.
“Don’t you fucking dare say a word-” He sneezed once more, grumbling.
Bobal looked the opposite direction from Bofo, his forearms trying to get warmth. Though suddenly, his whole body felt warm, and the cold feeling was no more. He was freezing just a while ago?
Bobal looked over, seeing that the other had pulled him closer so that he was settled in his lap and arms wrapped snugly around him. The act made Bobal get flustered as he tried to process what happened.
“I would be the one who’d have to look after you if you got sick, since no one else would,” Bofo had said, glancing down at Bobal fondly.
Bobal stayed silent, before giving a scoff.
“Whatever,” He replied, a fond smile forming on his face as he leaned back more and continued to look at the night sky, making Bofo smile more.
The numbness of the cold was now replaced with warmhearted love shared by the two.
