Chapter Text

I never would have thought of this, waking up next to my brother's grave with long, pink, braided hair just like when we were kids. He was only 24 when he died. Corrupted by anger and despair, he wanted what he deserved. After all he made the country, he led it until the election. Not his choice of course. That’s when Jschlatt was elected. Everyone knew he was a dictator but no one dared object. Then there was tubbo, the first step to a better country. At the festival he had to make a speech… that’s when it failed. He sadly was Jschlatts right hand man, Tubbo knew he had to accept or he would get exiled like Tommy and Wilbur did. Tubbo started his speech, “A wise man once told me, that L’Manburg was like a lettuce. There’s so many layer of tasty and healthy goodness, and once you wash off all the caterpillars and worms off the surface, it’s a pretty good meal. Schlatt has successfully washed all of the insects off our great nation. And with that, he’s allowed the goodness and tastiness to shine through. Ladies and Gentlemen, I’d like you to look around at what we’ve built today. Look at each other. All of this, thanks to democracy and the leadership of Jschlatt. Our people have been beaten down by rulers and dictators for so long. Now, we are finally free! Free to elect who we want. Free to live how we want, and most importantly, free to go wherever we want without the confine of those huge black walls. So with that in mind, I would like to thank everyone for coming to this wonderful event… let the festival begin!” He looked up to Wilbur and Tommy hiding behind the sign of the White House. I turn and see him “Run! Get out!” I want to yell. Tommy, Wilbur and Tubbo, my brothers. Family for life, always being there for me. I turned back to tubbo “Is that all?” Jschlatt asks. Tubbo slowly nods and looks to me in fear. “What’s a festival without some fun?” Jschlatt asks before looking directly at me, anger fills him. I see Wilbur run as fast as he can to the mountains, yet Tommy stays behind still watching tubbo. “Tubbo I hate to make this big of a scene at a festival of celebration for our great nation, but I know what you’ve been up to.” Jschlatt continues. That’s when I figure out what’s going on, Tubbo is helping Wilbur get back L’Manburg. “Do you know what happens to traitors Tubbo?” “N…no” Tubbo responds “Nothing good” Jschlatt replies . Tubbo, having only 2 lives left starts panicking tubbo looks to me “Uh techno…” I stay frozen as I was about to watch Tubbo, the person I’ve know since he was a tot, get executed. A tell louder than I’ve ever heard come from tubbo. I run to the woods ``what's going on” I ask myself. I run far as I can then I hear the speakers “Go after Tommyinnit!” Quackity says. Without thinking I ran back “Tommy!” I yell. “I can’t lose another brother” I think to myself. I see Tommy running “Go to the caverns” I yell to him “It’ll be safe there” I make sure no one is around and run to the caverns behind Tommy to make sure he’ll stay safe, and alive. After a long nonstop run we made it there. I stop running and walk up to Wilbur, Niki and Tubbo “so that’s where they went” I think. “The gangs all here” Wilbur says. “Get out.” Tommy tells me with a blank stare “why” I asked
“you didn’t protect tubbo, my right hand man, our brother” he continues
“There was a whole nation of other people they would have killed me”
“You didn’t even try”
“Neither did you”
“Techno! I’m a kid”
I stay silent, he’s right, 16 and he just watched his best friend, and brother die. “Calm down” Wilbur says
“No Will! He could have stopped them, he's the blade! Technos the strongest person here he could take them”
That’s true too, I probably could take them, I’ve fought in plenty of wars before. Wilbur runs out, I follow him discreetly. I don’t believe in twin telepathy but in this moment I knew something was wrong. Wilbur was getting revenge.

He goes up to a room, I stay behind, this is the worst mistake of my life. I watch Phil walk in, I can’t see either of them but I know deep down something is happening. “If I can’t have it, no-one can!” I hear Wilbur yell. Suddenly I hear Phil yell “SON!” With explosions falling soon after blowing up all of Manburg. I’m knocked back to my feet. My dad, and brother alone in a room, how it was when we were young. “Kill me” Wilbur says to Phil “no! don’t leave me!” I want to yell, nothing comes out. Wilbur hands Phil his sword, memory’s flood back, us playfully sword fighting in the backyard, learning how to properly fight, learning to read, cutting each others hair only to be yelled at by dad. “Your my son Will” Phil replies
“Kill me! They’ll kill you if you don’t!”
I know it’s true. If Wilbur wasn’t killed now the nation would hunt our family. I watch as Phil pulls Wilbur into a hug allowing the sword to go swiftly through Wilburs heart. “No!” I finally yell. Phil drops to his knees silently crying and lays Wilbur down, knowing Wilbur is gone. His first son, my twin, Tommy and tubbos brother, was gone, forever. I turn around, ready to sprint through the forest towards the cavern only to see Tommy covering his mouth mummering “no” over and over “I’m sorry” I tell him trying to calm him down and not show my own emotions. “No” he says a little louder he starts to run to Phil I grab him almost knocking him off of his feet. “WILBUR!” He yells sobbing. Phil flitches but doesn’t take his eyes off of Wilbur. “Tommy it’s ok” I reply.
“No! No! Wilbur! Let go of me!” Tommy keeps yelling trying to get out of my grip.
“Tommy breathe think about what you're about to do”
“I’m going to kill dad!”
“Wilbur wanted Phil to kill him”
“I…I don’t care!”
“You hesitated, you know Wilbur wouldn’t want that”
Tommy gets out of my grip and runs to Wilbur hugging his lifeless body “Come back…” Tommy says
“Mate he’s gone” Phil tells him trying to get Tommy off of what was left of Wilbur
“Because you… you killed him”
“I had too”
“You didn’t have to… he could have stayed”
“Tommy they would have killed all of us”
Tommy stayed silent as he zipped up Wilburs tan trench coat trying to ignore that his brother was gone. I didn’t know what to feel sympathy for Tommy, anger towards Phil for killing him or sorrow for my brother. And for the first time since I was a child, I cried, noiseless tears running down my face as I watched Tommy cry over Wilbur and Phil trying to calm him down. He was just 16 and he lost his brother. I sat down leaning against a tree as a take down my braid that Wilbur had just fixed before the festival. Letting the flowers fall out over the ground. Phil acknowledged my presence after hearing leaves crunch as I picked up the delicate flowers.
“Techno I-“
“Save your sympathy” I interrupted

The funeral was held 2 days after. I didn’t attend, I was too scared that people would see me at my weakest point and take it to advantage. The day after the funeral is when I visited. My hair still down, not brushed in three days, and the brown roots poking through ever so slightly. I walked to the grave slowly. I stood at the foot of his grave for about 30 minutes before falling to my knees sobbing. “I miss you already… every minute of everyday” I refused to get up even when night fell. I just stayed sitting on the grass until I fell asleep involuntarily. That’s when I woke up with my hair, brushed, braided and decorated with flowers, just like how Wilbur did.
