Utahime had been hiding in the storage room of a restaurant for almost two days now. She was tired, hungry and really missed human contact. She didn't get much of that anyway, being a major in the military and all, but she would take all the formalities in the world over these fucking zombies. Two months it had been, although it honestly felt like longer, since patient zero had escaped and started this mess. Their group was small, just a couple dozen troops and a few higher ranking officers.
Two days ago, Utihime along with corporal Ino and six troops had gone on a supply run in the city. While loading the supplies, a large group of zombies had stumbled into them, wiping them out. Utihime had tried to help Takuma despite the fact that he was surrounded. Not wanting her to die with him he had told her to run before plunging his knife into his jugular vein. The path to the SUV she had come in was blocked and she had to run the other way, zombies closing in on her. She had run into a nearby restaurant and hid herself in the storage room. Thankfully, most zombies were incredibly stupid and since none of them had actually seen her go in, they didn't know where she was and were just wandering around the restaurant.
Prior to the escape of patient zero, Shoko had discovered that if a zombie saw a human, and then the human disappeared, it would eventually forget about the human after approximately thirty to thirty five hours. About three hours ago, Utihime had heard the what she assumed was the last of the zombies wander out of the restaurant. However, she had given it a few more hours just to be safe. Hopefully, the swarm of zombies outside had dispersed enough for her to get to the vehicle.
Utihime slowly opened the door and peered out. She exited slowly, looking around for zombies as she silently walked, her katana at the ready. Using guns in a city was practically suicide, so when on missions to the city, melee weapons or silent weapons such as bows or crossbows were the only viable options. She leaned her head out of the doorway of the restaurant and assessed the street. There were much fewer zombies, she should be able to make a run for it.
She ran in the direction of the SUV, weaving between the slow moving zombies. All was going well, when something large hit the ground in front of her. The figure stood up, then gave her a wicked smile. It was an intelligent zombie.
Iteligent zombies were just that, intelligent, but could also posses an array of other traits such as increased physical strength and speed, as well as other supernatural abilities. The zombie threw its head back, roaring loudly, causing Utahime's heart to drop and her blood to run cold. He was calling more zombies. She looked around, hearing the groans and gurgles of the zombies in the streets around her.
She tried to dash around the zombie, but it stepped to the side, extending it's arm and placing it's hand on her chest, then pushing hard and launching her back. She hit the ground and slid back painfully. She grunted as she looked back ut the zombie, which still had a toothy grin plastered on its face. It raised a finger and slowly wagged it from side to side. "Uh, uh, uhh..." came an otherworldly sound that couldn't really be called a voice.
Utihime pushed herself to her feet, donning a battle stance. She charged the zombie, bit if it deftly dodged all of her slashes before grabbing the wrist of her sword hand and stretching it above her head. With its other hand, it made a fist and drove it hard into her abdomen. Utahime grunted in pain, she didn't have a chance to recover before she was hit again. The zombie continued to strike her several more times before wrenching her around by the wrist like a hammer throw and throwing her, wrenching the sword from her grip as it did so.
Utihime must have been flung two meters into the air and a couple dozen back. She hit the ground again, even harder this time, landing in an intersection. She could now see zombies approaching her from four different directions. She looked behind her, the zombie had thrown her in the direction of the SUV, but with the other zombies closing in, she didn't see much chance of getting to it. She turned back to the intelligent zombie, which was examining her sword, as if appreciating the craftsmanship.
It looked back at her, then smiled its evil smile again before bringing its arm up, holding the sword like a javelin. Realizing that it was going to throw it at her, Utahime scrambled to her right to get up. She managed to get up, causing the sword to slice the front of her thigh as it sailed past instead of Imbedding itself in her torso. She yelped in pain, falling to one knee and clutching the wound.
She wasnt able to focus on her new wound for long, as the sound of rapid footsteps drew her attention up. It was a runner zombie, and it was closing in on her fast. She forced herself up, ignoring the flame of pain that shot through her leg and ran in the direction of where her sword had landed. The zombie was faster that she was in her current state, and was closing in fast. Utihime dived for her sword, hearing the zombie right behind her, only having enough time to roll over and swing the sword, slicing the zombies head off as it dived for her. It's headless body landed on her, spilling blood over the left side of her face and soaking into her hair.
She grunted as she pushed the heavy deadweight off of her. She stood up, wiping the blood from her left eye. She saw the intelligent zombie slowly walking towards her. She turned and tried to run in the direction of the SUV hoping she could break through the horde of zombies in her way. It seemed she wouldn't get the chance.
The zombie closed the distance quickly, placing it's hand on her back and pushing her to the ground as it ran past her. She got back on her feet as quickly as she could, going for a swing at the monster. It effortlessly swiped her arm away, knocking her sword out of her hand. It cluttered to the ground a few meters away, out of her reach. She brought her arms up to protect herself but it was hopeless. The zombie brought its arm up, knocking hers up, exposing her body. It drove its other fist hard into her stomach. She stumbled back, then was met with a punch across the face before a stomp in the gut. She doubled over, trying to get her bearings. She coughed, spitting up blood onto the tarmac. She looked to her sword and tried to make a dash for it, but the zombie stepped in front of her and she was met with another punch across the jaw. The zombie landed blow after blow as it continued to punch and kick her. She was dazed and coming to terms with the fact that she wouldn't live to see another day.
"Hey!" a voice bellowed over the turmoil. The barrage against her stopped and she collapsed onto her hands and knees. Her senses began to return to her and she looked up to see the zombie that been attacking her was turned around. She looked past it to see what it was looking at and her heart skipped a beat.
Past the horde of zombies, standing arms crossed, his usual smile absent, was their groups strongest combatant, captain Satoru Gojo. The blindfolded man's face was that of one who was supremely unamused, but in reality he was repressing an apocalyptic rage. "Touch her again," he warned, "and you won't even have a chance to prepare for your death."
The zombie's smile returned, Utahime wasn't going anywhere, so he could play with the newcomer. "Utahime! Take shelter in one of the buildings!" Gojo shouted, lowering his blindfold. Utihime pushed herself to her feet and ran to the nearest building, weaving through a small group of zombies that lumbered after her as she ran into the building and closing the door as the intelligent zombie started walking towards Gojo.
Gojo put his hands together, intertwining his fingers and wrapping the fingers of his right hand over the back of his left. "Technique amplification, blue. Technique reversal, red." forces of positive and negative began to combine as Gojo extended his hand in front of him. "Hollow," a purple light appeared at his fingertips, "purple." A glowing purple sphere grew at his fingers until it's diameter matched the width of the street before being launched forward. It traveled fast wiping out everything in it's path. The intelligent zombie only had time to be taken aback with fear before he was wiped from existence.
Utahime was pushing against the door, trying to keep the zombies out as a hand grabbed and clawed for her through the broken window of the door. She heared a loud roar travel past her down the street, lightning sparking and the air swirling. The flailing arm fell to the floor below her, its body gone.
There was a veil of silence as Utahime opened the door and slid down into the ditch which had been carved into the ground. She lumbered in the direction of Gojo, who was driving towards her in his military SUV. She was barely hanging onto consciousness as the adrenaline was wearing off. Gojo stopped in front of her and got out. He walked towards her, his military uniform pristine and his blindfold back around his eyes. "Here" he started, his expression still uncharacteristically stern, "let me help you." "I'm fine," Utahime said, her voice breathless and distant, "I'm fi..." she collapsed but Gojo caught her in his strong arms. "It's okay Hime," he comforted, stroking the back of her head gently, "you're safe now, I got you." Feeling safe, Utihime finally gave in and allowed her heavy eyelids to close. She just enjoyed his comforting and safe embrace before unconsciousness claimed her.
---
Utihime stirred to the sound of footsteps, it took a few seconds for her to remember everything that had happened. Her eyes slowly opened. She sat up, feeling the bruises all over her body, and looked around, she was in a bedroom of some sort. She looked out the window and saw beautiful green fields and the last rays of the sun disappearing over the horizon. The footsteps reached the door, revealing Gojo carrying a bowl. He walked up to her and handed her the bowl, "here," he said, "it's probably been a while since you last ate,"
Utahime took the bowl from his hands, "thank you captain," she said gratefully. "Please, no one's here, just call me Satoru," he said with a wave of his hand. "Thank you Satoru," she said. Gojo raised an eyebrow behind his blindfold. Normally she wold scold him for his blatant disregard for protocol. Utahime looked down into the bowl, it was instant porridge, no doubt from one of their ration packs. She took a spoonful of the warm meal, blowing on it softly before putting it in her mouth. Their instant porridge was pretty good, but right now, to Utihime, it tasted like heaven, finally satisfying the hunger that had been eating at her for the past few days.
Gojo sat down on the bottom of the bed and simply watched her quietly as she ate. Gojo was quite special. Patient zero was the second person to be tested on with the experimental super soldier serum, Gojo was the first. The serum had granted Gojo superhuman abilies. In addition to strength, speed and reflexes, he gained superhuman perception and the ability to manipulate space. He wore a blindfold because according to him, using his eyes tired him out too much. Apparently he could still 'see' and he described it as being like high definition infrared.
About halfway through the meal, Utahime was finally able to pull her attention away from her hunger to ask, "where are we?" Gojo smiled, "don't worry, we're safe, this was a farm and organic food store. I used to come here for their raw honey." Utahime smiled, "Gojo and his sweet tooth," she thought to herself.
While she finished her meal, Gojo left and returned with a first aid kit and a bowl of water and a cloth. When she had finished eating, Gojo gently took the bowl away and placed it on the bedside table, then took a seat closer to her "let's get your face cleaned up," he said. Utahime's hand went to touch her face and felt all the dried blood that was stuck to her skin and matted in her hair. She closed her eyes as he gently cleaned her up as best he could. "There," he said with a smile, "that's better. Now, let's have a look at your injuries," he said as he folded the duvet back.
"I'm fine Satoru," she said, "I'm just bruised up, that's all," "Uh-huh," Gojo said skeptically, "and that?" he said, pointing at the nasty gash on the front of her right thigh. Utahime said nothing. "does it hurt?" he asked. "a little," she replied. "Well," Gojo started, "I'd better tend to I before it gets infected."
Gojo reached up and pulled his blindfold down, causing his white locks to fall down and revealing his stunning blue eyes. They had gained their destinctive characteristics when he had acquired his power. Fuck, she could get lost in those eyes. It was like staring into the sky. Gojo gently placed his hands on either side of her thigh, causing her breath to hitch, as he examined the wound. "Hmm," came his voice. "Hime, I think this would be easier if you took your pants off," He said it as if it was the most normal thing in the world. Utahime swallowed, "okay," she could feel the heat in her face and hoped the room was dark enough to hide her blush.
Utahime laid down on the bed as Gojo helped her out of her pants, being very careful so as to cause her as little pain as possible. Her and Gojo had been friends since they were teenagers, their relationship consisted mainly of him pushing her buttons and her inevitablely losing her cool with him. But, somewhere along the line, she had fallen in love with the insufferable manchild. And now, here she was, in front of him without pants on. Utahime cursed herself, she was blushing like a schoolgirl.
Gojo pulled some disinfectant and a small cloth out of the first aid kit and turned to her. "I'm sorry," he began, "but this is going to hurt," He waited patiently for her response. "Just do it," she said, bracing herself. Gojo poured some of the disinfectant onto her wound and placed the small cloth gently against it. Utihime winced and bit her lip, refusing to allow the pain to show on her any more than that.
Gojo then took a needle and thread out of the first aid kit and began stitching the wound shut. Utahime closed her eyes and turned her head against the pillow, heat pooling in her core as she felt his touch on her bare thigh while he gently and quietly worked away. When he was done, he wrapped a bandage around her thigh.
"How's that?" he asked, looking at his handywork, "does it still hurt?" "A little," she said absentmindedly. "Do you want me to kiss it better?" he joked. Utahime's mind was somewhere else, "yes." It was quiet, barely audible, but Gojo heard it, and his eyes snapped up to meet hers. "Fuck" she thought to herself, she had actually said it out loud. She didn't know what to do, they just stared into each other's eyes. Damn he had gorgeous eyes. Gojo finally broke eye contact as he leaned down. He closed his eyes and gently placed his lips against her thigh in a tender kiss. Utihime's heart fluttered and she closed her eyes.
As he lifted his head back up, Utahime reached her hand out and cupped his cheek. He closed his eyes and nuzzled into her palm. "Hey," she said softly after a few seconds. His eyes opened and stared into hers again. "Come here." she guided him onto the bed and up over her. They continued to stare into eachothers eyes as Gojo brought his hand up and held her right cheek, he reached out with his thumb and traced her scar.
He leaned in and their lips met in a tender kiss. Their lips moved against each other as Utahime ran her fingers through the hair on the back of his head, intertwining her fingers with his snowy locks. Gojo suckled on her bottom lip, asking for entrance. She opened her mouth, and welcomed his tongue with hers as it entered her mouth. Their tongues intertwined and circled each other, until eventually their mouths parted, their tongues still touching before breaking contact. Their faces flush and their breath ragged, they stared at each other again. She didn't need to tell him how she felt about him, nor did she need to ask him if he felt the same about her. Both had clearly conveyed how they felt about the other.
Utahime reached down and unbuckled his belt then slowly pulled down the zip at the front of his uniform. Gojo looked at her, "Are you sure you want to do this Hime?" he asked. "You big idiot, have to ask?" she said tenderly, gently stroking his cheek with her fingertips, "Are you?" she asked. Gojo's lips parted slightly as he smiled. Then he leaned in again and their lips locked in a passionate kiss.
