Work Text:

And another day of work done. Dainsleif sighed as he opened the door to yours and his shared apartment slowly. It was quite late, almost midnight even, and he didn't want to wake you up. Hanging his coat on a nearby coat rack and getting out of his work shoes, he slowly found his way to the kitchen where the light was still turned on. Unlike the rest of the apartment.

Upon arriving at the kitchen, he found a note. It was your handwriting. Neatly folded so that it could stand and be read by him. Taking the paper, he smiled at the message that was written on it.

'Dain, if you're hungry from work. There's leftovers in the fridge for you, just reheat it if you are hungry. Don't stress yourself too much over work okay? Promise me that.

                                                                                                                                                                    -Your beloved.'

Dainsleif still can't believe how he manage to get someone like you. Someone who would always be there for him through both the calm and the storm. Lady Luck must have smiled upon him the day he first met you. Just thinking about it made his heart beat faster. How can he forget that day, when both of you meet.

"Excuse me, can I sit here for a while?" You asked him as he was reading a book. The park was lively, yes, but this particular spot was his favourite because people didn't gather here. He loved the quiet and the overall calm atmosphere of it. Not that he didn't mind a few random company here and there.

"Of course, I don't mind." With that both of you sat together in a comfortable silence until you decided to break the ice. "This part of the park is quieter huh? It's lovely in it's own way." Dainsleif looked up from his book to reply to you "I agree. There's some sort of charm about this area.  It soothes the mind."

You chuckled softly "I can see why you decided to read here. By the way, nice to meet you. Can I know your name?"

Just like that, a friendship bloomed. With time, it grew into infatuation for each other. He remembered how he was the one to confess. Although he must admit it was rather spontaneous. It was just another day of you two together in the very same area of the park. Except that when you were talking about something, he just blurted out that he was in love with you.

You were taken aback but quickly reassured him that you felt the same way. From that day onwards, his life was more vibrant. Your chattiness complemented his quiet life very well. It was as if you two were puzzle pieces that was meant to connect. Breaking out of his thoughts of the past, he reheated his dinner and ate.

He thinks about taking a few days off to spend some time together with you. Days of not spending a lot of time with you made him feel guilty, even with your reassurance. Plus, he doesn't want you to be alone all the time. What sort of husband would he be if he rarely see his spouse?

He would love to take you out on a date. Maybe go on a trip together somewhere. It didn't matter to him what you want to do, as long he can be with you, he'll be there. Even if it was mundane or if you just want to stay at home and talk with him all day. He wouldn't mind it not a single bit.

After finishing his dinner and cleaning up the dishware he used,  he finally entered the bedroom. As expected, you were long asleep before he came home. He must admit, one of the perks of coming home late is seeing your face while you slept. It made him feel at ease. Just the way how he felt when he rested in his park's favourite area. It made him feel calm.

Softly sitting beside your sleeping figure on the bed, carefully to not wake you up, he caressed your cheek with his hand. Sighing once more, but in a lovingly way, he slowly lied down on the bed. Embracing you in his arms, pulling you closer to him. The warmth of your body comforted him even more, lulling him to sleep.

"Hey Dain, reading again today?"

"Yes, I think you would like this one."

He would give up everything just to see you smile.

"Would you like to go grab some coffee with me? I know a great place downtown"

"I would love to Dain."

He may not be the most religious man out there but seeing you.......

"There's no one else I'd rather spent my entire life with.......other than you."

"I.....I accept."

makes him believe that you were one of Celestia's angel in a human form.

He smiled one last time before the sleepiness took over. Your warmth blessing him with good dreams for tonight.

"Goodnight, beloved."

Notes:

I just wanted to write a short fic with Dainsleif. Really that's it.
