He’s still warm in her arms when it hits her. There’ll be no coming back from this.
The paramedics take him away and she feels like they’ve taken part of her with him. (So much for him being the one missing a heart.)
She hates the taste of her tears as she remembers the way their bodies slotted together as he kissed her like she was his sure thing.
She hates herself for getting attached and she hates herself for pushing him away for so long. But mostly, she hates him for going somewhere she can’t follow.
(Except not really.)
