Work Text:

Ganyu was the barista known for finding everyone’s soulmate. She was the most loved person in the small cafe. Though she was loved by all, she herself had never loved someone. She never admitted she was jealous. She had this quiet desire to fall in love, but she never clicked with anyone.

One rainy evening, Ganyu was staring at her watch, waiting for it to hit 5 so she could finally close up. It had been a very busy day, she was exhausted. All she wanted was to head home and watch romance movies on the couch, eating chocolate as she cried to the words ‘I love you’ and the kiss at the end of the movie. She snapped out of her thoughts when she heard the glass door open, the small bell dinging. She laid her eyes on the most gorgeous girl she had ever seen. She had gorgeous purple hair, and was wearing a beautiful purple dress. She was holding a brown trench coat over her head and a leather purse in her left hand. The girl shut the door and took a hefty breath. She was drenched head to toe with water.

“Can I help you miss?” Ganyu blurted out.

The purple haired girl looked up at Ganyu, her mouth hanged open. Ganyu moved around the front bench and rushed over to help the girl. The purple haired girl stood up straight and watched Ganyu take her trench coat.

“Miss do you need a towel?”

“It’s uh Keqing.” The purple haired girl responded.

Ganyu, startled, rushed to grab a towel.

Keqing sat at a booth with a towel wrapped around her and a hot chocolate sat in front of her. Ganyu was stacking chairs behind her. The only thing to be heard was the patter of rain and clinking of chairs being stacked. Keqing took a sip of hot chocolate and watched Ganyu stack chairs, somewhat mesmerised by how efficient she was. Ganyu pushed the stacked chairs away into a corner and wiped her brow. She looked back to Keqing, Keqing averted her gaze with a slight blush on her cheeks. Ganyu walked over and sat on the opposite side of Keqing.

“Miss Keqing? Is something the matter?”

Keqing looked up quickly and shook her head, “No no Miss Ganyu, I’m quite alright.”

“Do you have a cold? I can uh get you some soup-“

Keqing cut her off, “I’m alright Miss Ganyu, you don’t have to worry about me.”

Ganyu frowned, “What were you doing in the rain Miss Keqing? It’s pouring down.”

Keqing sighed and looked up at Ganyu, “I was taking a stroll when it started pouring down, I didn’t think it was going to pour down since it was sunny merely 10 minutes ago.” Keqing laughed awkwardly.

Ganyu smiled warmly, “It’s quite often out here, did you not know?”

“I’m new to town so I did not know.” Keqing blushed, embarrassed. “I probably should've taken that little girl's advice.”

Ganyu covered her mouth as she chuckled. Keqing covered her face as it turned red with embarrassment. She looked at Ganyu’s face and took in her features, her dimples as she smiled, her blue hair in a low ponytail. She couldn’t help to think of her as the most beautiful girl she had possibly seen. Ganyu stopped chuckling and stared at Keqing, she couldn’t help but stare at her utmost beauty. The cafe was silent for a while, the rain was now a light rain. The two girls stared at each other, mesmerised.

When something dinged in the back, they snapped out of their trance. They looked at each other and began to blush. Ganyu covered her face with her hands, apologising for staring. Keqing put her hand on Ganyu’s shoulder, telling her that she’s alright.

Ganyu continued to apologise, Keqing grabbed Ganyu’s hands and moved them away from her face. Ganyu stopped and looked up at Keqing, shocked. Keqing let go of Ganyu’s hands and coughed awkwardly.

“You're uh, very pretty Miss Ganyu.”

Ganyu was confused, did Keqing call her… pretty? She had been called pretty before, but this time it gave her a different feeling. She fumbled with her fingers,

“You are very pretty to Miss Keqing.” She muttered.

They both smiled at each other’s words. They looked up at each other, their smiles growing. Ganyu gulped and played with her apron,

“Keqing?”

“Yes Ganyu?”

Ganyu looked at Keqing with a nervous expression,
“Would you um…possibly be free Saturday?”

Keqing stood up from her seat, head down . Ganyu stood up, did she mess up? Was she too quick to ask? Did she read the room wrong? Keqing looked up at Ganyu, her cheeks flushed, a massive smile on her face.

“I would love to, Ganyu.” Keqing hugged her, Ganyu held her hands up, reluctant to hug Keqing back. She slowly moved her hands to wrap around Keqing. They stayed like that for awhile, Ganyu held tighter, scared that if she let go she would wake up in her apartment. Keqing squeezed tighter, she too was scared that this was all a dream. As they let go of each other, they gazed into each other’s eyes. They couldn’t believe that they had fallen in love.

On this rainy evening, Ganyu found love, and for the first time in forever, she was the happiest she had ever been.
