Tezuka's first reaction had been to pull away but Inui held firm. Before he had the presence of mind to demand to be released verbally, the other boy's brows creased.
''Your pulse shouldn't be this high.''
Finally getting his wrist free, Tezuka took a step back, accidentally coming up against the wall.
''Let Ōishi take over training. You should give it a rest for today, at least. The constant council meetings last week left you exhausted in more ways than was foreseeable.''
Tezuka considered his options. Yes, he was exhausted. But he also was quite sure he could continue at least through training.
Inui saw it coming, however.
''Your body might accommodate your desire to continue. But my estimate for a then total crash is 98.9 percent. And from that one day of rest is more than insufficient. It will take you out of training and school for at least three days if not the whole week.''
Not daring to argue Tezuka shouldered his bag and left without a word.
Later, he would send Ōishi an apology by phone but for now he just wanted to get the heck home.
Inui was really scary like this.
Especially when he was right.
