It was a peaceful day in the Kamisato Estate. Ayato was doing his paperwork in his office and fortunately enough, Thoma was there to keep him company.
The chief retainer of the clan had various jobs and assisting the commissioner in approving loans and double-checking his letters is one of it.
Ayato is more than happy to have Thoma working alongside him, the blonde man with his gaze focused on the paperwork. He was so happy that he kept staring at the man and thinking about how lucky he was to have Thoma by his side.
Handsome, loyal, capable and kind Thoma.
Noticing the lack of movements from Ayato, Thoma looked up from his papers to check on him.
"Is something the matter, young master?"
Ayato sighed, closing his eyes. "I told you to just call me by name when we're alone."
"Sorry, it's a habit," the blonde admitted, rubbing the back of his neck.
He wished Thoma would be more used to using his name. He'd love to see the other's flustered state if he were to mistakenly call the young master by name in public.
"Is something wrong, Ayato?"
Ayato smiled, mood lifted instantly from hearing Thoma call his name.
"Thoma, do you remember the song we used to listen to on the cassette player?" he asked instead of answering.
Confused with the seemingly random question, Thoma had to think back to the past where they used to listen to songs from his father's cassette collection.
"We listened to a lot of different songs. Which one are you talking about?"
"It's the one that goes," Ayato closed his eyes and sang the line,
"I can't help falling in love with you."
Thoma had to take a moment to process what he just heard. He definitely knew the song, but he didn't expect to hear Ayato singing in English. He had a slight accent, but his pronunciation was perfectly clear.
And his voice was really nice. It sounded different than his talking voice, slightly airy and light. Thoma was pleasantly surprised by it.
"O-oh, that song. Yeah it's a, it's a really good song. It's a love song," he stammered out, trying to not overanalyze why Ayato sang that line in particular. It was the title of the song after all, and repeated throughout the chorus.
The head of the Kamisato clan grinned seeing Thoma's slightly flustered state. He loved being the cause of it.
"I know. I'm aware of the meaning of the song," he said. He got up from his seat and approached Thoma.
"Ayato?"
Ayato sat next to Thoma, looking into his eyes.
"Take my hand, take my whole life too,"
He took Thoma's hand, and placed it on his chest.
"For I can't help falling in love with you."
Using his other hand, he tilted Thoma's chin up and gave him a kiss.
Thoma's face was bright red after they parted. Ayato couldn't help giving him another peck.
"I love you Thoma," he whispered.
"I love you too," Thoma replied immediately.
Ayato softly laughed. "Aren't you supposed to answer in English as well?"
Thoma chuckled, and brought a hand to the back of Ayato's neck, pulling him closer and resting their foreheads together.
"I love you, ich liebe dich, je t'aime. In all languages of the world, I love you Ayato."

"You can speak other languages as well?"
"I picked up a few sentences from the outlanders in Ritou."
"And you just so happened to learn 'I love you' in all of the languages? Should I be worried about what you were up to when you were there?"
"Wha- I swear nothing happened!"
"Hmmm."
"Ayato!"
