Work Text:

“Babe?”

You turn to look at your boyfriend, a response at the tip of your tongue. Your brain skids to a screeching halt as you catch sight of him. Paint covers most of his face and clothes, making him look like a very perturbed, abstract painting. His put out expression would be genuinely worrisome if it weren’t marred by pinks and purples. You snicker as he gives you a “look”.

“Don’t laugh.”

It’s the simple command that breaks you. You have to put a hand against the wall as you nearly fall from laughing. His face remains a stoic listlessness before he smirks. You know that look all too well. Your hysterical laughter quickly turns in nervous giggling.

“Honey? Sweetheart? Love of my life? What are you doing?”

His only answer is a malicious grin followed with him lunging forward. You give a screech as he holds you tight, getting your clean clothes covered in pastels.

“Babe!”

Not even your scolding tone swipes the self satisfied look off his face. When he sees you aren’t fighting anymore, he adjusts you to face him. His eyes are shining with endearment and amusement as he sees he got some of the paint on your face. You squint your eyes in mock anger, which he chuckles at.

“I like your new look, babe. It really shows off your eyes.”

You groan as he laughs and hugs you tighter. Despite the heavy cleaning you’d have to do to get all the paint out of your everywhere, you can’t help but feel content. With the warm arms of your boyfriend circling you, your head resting against his chest to hear his heartbeat, maybe the clothes and paint could wait.

Notes:

First fic done and in the bag.

Had to put a bit of fluff out there because sometimes warm fuzzies are needed. If you have any critiques or comments, they are encouraged.

Hope you enjoyed.
