Work Text:
She was in a tight, red dress that was meant as a treat for her darling husband. But, unfortunately, sitting alone at the bar, her phone in her lap, clicking on it every few minutes to see if she got any texts from him, she had no idea where he was. All he had told her a half hour ago was that he had left from work, and she knows that it did not take more than twenty minutes to reach the bar they had agreed upon.
She sighed again and drank her drink at once. The bartender kept another one in front of her. One that she had not ordered.
“Hey, I did not order for another one!” She told the bartender.
The guy barely looked at her and said, “It’s from the guy from the black suit over there.” He pointed in a general direction.
Alina’s face lightened up. So, Aleksander was here. She looked at the general direction that the bartender pointed at and frowned. She could not see a guy in a black suit that was her husband, except for one who was staring right at her with a smirk on his face.
That was not her husband.
Still, to be polite, she raised her glass in thanks.
Unfortunately, the guy took it as a sign to sit with her. She did not want that. She wanted her husband.
“Hi, I’m George. It’s nice to meet you,” The guy - George - said with a smile that she thought was supposed to be dazzling. It did not work on her. Had anyone seen her husband? Like, just looked at him when he smiled? That was dazzling.
Also, what kind of a name was George? It was boring, and Alina did not like boring names.
But she still smiled and said, “I’m Alina,”
She heard shrieks of girls laughing at something, and the two turned their heads around to see what the matter was.
There were a group of girls who were celebrating a bachelorette party. They were singing and drinking champagne right from the bottle. Alina missed her girlfriends, suddenly.
Her gaze shifted to the shadowy figure standing not so far away from the girls. Alina smiled. She knew that he was watching. Well, she was going to give him a little show.
Turning her attention back to George, she brushed her fingertips against his arm and leaned forward. She crossed her legs, causing her dress to ride up further. Alina saw the way George’s eyes stared at her legs. She saw the way his eyes darkened as he looked back at her.
“So, George,” She practically purred, “Tell me about yourself,”
She gave him a seductive smile.
George gulped, and said, “Well, I’m an architect,”
“Oh wow!” Alina feigned her interest, running her fingers up and down his arm lightly. “That is so interesting! Have you made anything that I might’ve seen?”
George blinked, and he was at a loss for words. He did not know what to say. He looked around to change the topic and saw that her glass was almost empty. He could offer her another drink and then take her home. Yeah, he could do that.
“How about I buy you another drink? Maybe I’ll tell you about everything I’ve made once I take you home.” He smirked in a pretentious way and Alina was not sure whether to gag or laugh at his terrible attempt. And she was not sure whether to do it in her head, or physically do it to show him how bad of an attempt that was.
Alina smirked, and leaned back, crossing her arms over her chest. “Oh honey, I’m already married. Sorry!”
He was gaping at her like some fish and she laughed. Embarrassed, George got up from his place from across her and left, muttering about something that he had just remembered to do.
Alina smiled to herself. She felt a presence behind her. She knew the warmth and the smell. She knew who it was.
“Did you enjoy the show, darling?” She said smugly, as she finished her drink. His back was towards her, and she knew it. She reveled in it.
“Oh, so we’re playing this game tonight, huh? Alright, let’s see who wins.” Aleksander said. She could practically hear the smile on his face.
“Oh, Sasha, you haven’t played this game since college. You’re probably rusty at it. Why bother trying to win when we know you’re going to lose?” Alina retorted.
“Maybe I’ve gotten better than you know it, Alya,”
Just then, the bartender kept a drink in front of her husband, and said, “The girl in the white dress over there.”
Alina’s smile dropped, and she frowned, the jealousy flowing through her like the red blood that her heart pumped, but she did not react.
“Well, solnyshko, let the games begin,” Aleksander said.
The girl came over and Alina could hear what they were talking about. She was right there! She needed to know how much of a fool was Aleksander going to make the girl feel. A part of her felt pity for those girls, but a larger part of her enjoyed it.
Seriously, how hard is it to check if a person has a ring on their finger before you fucking approach them?
“Hi, I’m Annika, what’s your name?” Alina rolled her eyes.
“Aleksander. It’s nice to meet you,” Aleksander said.
“You have beautiful eyes,” She complimented. Of course, he does. And, Alina thought proudly, she could stare at them anytime she wanted, and for however long she wanted.
He smiled and said, “Well, certainly not as beautiful as you are,”
Alina rolled her eyes again. She knew what he was doing. She hated it, yet love it at the same time.
She could hear Annika giggle. Ugh. Typical.
“So, Aleksander, what do you do?”
“I’m a lawyer, actually. I work with the biggest law firm in the country,”
That was a lie. Alina knew it. Her husband did not work with the biggest law firm in the country, he fucking owned it.
Annika giggled, and it sounded like she was tipsy. “That’s so hot. Want to go back to my place?”
Alina snorted in her drink. That was fast. She could feel Aleksander nudging her from the back, asking her silently to be quiet. It only made it harder for her to not laugh.
“Unfortunately for you, Annika,” He lifted his left hand, “I’m married, and I happen to love my wife will all my being.”
Alina blushed and hid her smile in her drink. Her husband could make her swoon even when he was not talking to her, let alone looking at her.
Alina heard Annika sputtering and mumbling something before her chair scratched against the floor loudly and she left.
Alina laughed, throwing her head back and resting it against her husband’s back for a few seconds.
“Enjoyed the show, did you, malyshka?” Aleksander said, smiling as well. He turned his head to the side to see the top of his wife’s head.
Alina nodded, “Oh yes, definitely, milaya,”
“Well, I do love you,” Alina smiled, closing her eyes for a few seconds, as she let the words sink in.
“Unfortunately, Sasha, that is not going to get you to win,” She said, and she felt Aleksander laugh.
“Maybe, I just don’t want to win, and I’m letting you know,”
Alina snorted. She knew that what he said was true, but she was not going to back down so easily, “Liar. Six years I’ve been with you, you don’t think I would know all of your little tactics by now?”
“Smart girl, my lapushka. Anyways, guy in a shirt approaching you, five o'clock,” Aleksander said, and Alina had immediately put her game face on.
“I’ll meet you at one?” Alina murmured.
“You bet,” Aleksander said, and he stood up to leave. His fingers lightly brushed against hers, letting her know every time that he loved her.
“Hi, I’m Danil,” The guy said.
“Alina,”
And that was how husband and wife, Mr. and Mrs. Morozova played a game of “Who can reject more people in one night?” A game that they made when they were in college and Aleksander saw her sitting at the bar alone after Mal had said something to her.
Alina flirted with the men that came to her and offered her a drink, and declined their suggestion of going back to their place every time. Her favourite part was when she told them that she was already married. Some of them panicked, hitting on a married woman, some of them tried to talk her into cheating on her husband.
Ha! As if. Her husband was gorgeous. She was not going to let that hot piece of ass slip away from her so easily.
While Alina had her fun, she also kept an eye on Aleksander. She knew that he would not cheat on her, but sometimes, girls tried to kiss him to make him go home with them.
It had happened once. Alina may or may not have punched the girl, and may or may not have broken her nose. Aleksander may or may not have had to carry her out of the place. But what did happen, was mind-blowing sex when they reached their apartment. Oh, that definitely happened.
Alina had seen a fair share of girls walk up to Aleksander and talk to him. She even heard one of them run out crying loudly. She smirked. She was not sure what she was enjoying more; rejecting guys, or watching her husband reject girls.
At one in the morning, when the bar felt empty and full in a way that she did not understand, Alina sat at her place, where she had been sitting the entire night, waiting for her husband. She knew that he was talking to someone. She knew that it was going to be any second before Aleksander told the girl that he was married.
The bartender had put another drink in front of her, and she was about to refuse, but he stopped her and said, “The guy over there sent it. Said that I can’t take no for an answer,”
Alina followed his gaze and it landed on her smirking husband. He winked at her and finished his drink, before he got up from his place.
“The guy’s been staring at you the whole time he’s been here. I don’t know how many girls came and spoke to him, and he rejected all of them. Couldn’t take his eyes off of you,” The bartender said.
Alina smiled to herself, and said, “That’s my husband.”
At that moment, Aleksander wrapped his arms across her collarbone, and put his face against her neck, pressing a light kiss there.
Alina leaned into him and laughed softly. “Excuse me, mister, what are you trying to do here? I’m married!”
Aleksander pulled back and raised an eyebrow. He could not stop the smile that made its way on his face.
“Oh, is that so?”
Alina hummed and nodded against his shoulder, still staring up at him.
“Tell me about your darling husband, then,”
She sighed in the most content way possible that made Aleksander’s heart sing and said, “Well, he’s tall and handsome, and he owns the country’s biggest law firm.”
Aleksander pressed soft kisses against her neck, “Keep going,”
Alina smiled, “He’s incredibly sweet and takes such good care of me,”
He nipped at her soft spot and she moaned quietly, “Uh huh,”
“And I love him very, very much.” Alina whispered in a soft, happy sigh.
Aleksander pulled back and said, “I love you very, very much too, lyubimaya.”
Leaning down, Aleksander captured his wife’s lips, and she ran her fingers through his hair. He pulled back for a second, turned her to face him, standing in between her legs, and kissed her again. Because he can. Because he wanted to. Because he was the only one, she allowed to.
The thought made him want to jump in the streets and let everyone know that that beautiful person was his forever. He just settled for a smile at that moment, though.
Alina pulled back, resting her forehead against his, and whispered, her lips brushing his, “Want to go back home?”
He nodded, pecking her lips once more, before he cleared their tab with the bartender who had been getting their drinks all night, and helped Alina put on her coat. He tucked Alina under his arm safely, and she leaned into him as they walked in the streets together.
They talked all the way towards home. Alina did not know what they were going to do once they reached, but she found that she did not care, as long as it was with Aleksander, her husband.
