Jason knew he was outside of his radius when he went to Peter’s house, but he couldn’t resist messing with Peter. Sure, he could have easily found another way to share what he found out with Peter, but this was more fun. Plus, there was the bonus of evaluating the response time if he ever needed to leave his radius. So, he knocked on the door of the house.
The person who answered the door was not who he expected. He knew Peter had a wife, but he expected her to be a stranger, not Artemis Crock his honorary older sister, whom he hadn’t seen since before his death.
If Jason was being honest, he kind of missed her. But when she hadn’t reached out once he came back to life, he assumed that she didn’t approve of the Red Hood and no longer wanted to be associated with him. That’s why he hadn’t reached out. In fact, it was with that mentality that he wouldn’t reach out first to anyone in the hero community.
That idea was confirmed in Jason’s mind when the first thing Artemis did once she got out of her initial shock, was slap him in the face. Jason didn’t retaliate because wasn’t wrong. After what he’d done once he came back to life, he had no right to show up at her house unannounced, even if it was accidental. She had made the choice not to reach out when she was informed Jason was alive and a crime lord. A choice Jason was supposed to respect.
Because that had to be what happened. Surely someone had to have informed her that he had come back.
Or maybe not judging by the fact that the next words that came out of her mouth were, "YOU ASSHOLE, I THOUGHT YOU WERE DEAD" and then she proceeded to hit him softly.
Peter came barreling down the stairs gun raised from hearing the chaos. “Hun, what happened? What did he do? Did he threaten you? I know he’s a criminal but why the violence? He's supposed to be a non-violent criminal”, he asked once he saw his wife looking in shock.
While waiting for a response from his wife, Peter was already starting to pull out the handcuffs, mentally preparing to send Neal back to jail. But instead of a response, El grabbed a shocked Neal into a hug a crushing hug, while mumbling something incomprehensible into his chest.
Peter stood their completely confused by the scene in front of him.
Meanwhile, Jason held Artemis completely confused by this outcome but mentally preparing for the lecture on morals and killing people, she was certainly going to give him once her temporary shock of seeing him again was over.
All the while, Artemis stood there while hugging her pseudo little brother who was no longer little, utterly confused at how he was even standing before her. She was furious that nobody had informed her he was alive. She may be retired from the hero gig but she still cared.
