Chapter Text
Harry had always liked Quidditch. It was his favorite sport since he came to Hogwarts a year ago. He had made some great friends, Ron and Hermione. He had also had made some enemies, like Draco Malfoy. He was very rude and a snob to Harry his first year. Draco and Harry hated each other and that was never going to change. That was what Harry thought. Who knew one Quidditch match could change his point of view.
It was only the first few weeks of school yet Quidditch had already started. Everyone was ready for the first game of the year. Almost the whole school had been out to watch. Harry was nervous but not worried until he realized he had to go against Malfoy. Harry was in the changing room when someone yelled, “It’s time. Everyone in position.” Harry finished up and headed out with the team to the field. The first person he sees is Malfoy. They make eye contact and Malfoy gives him a death stare. They started to fly up when Malfoy said “Scared Potter?” “You wish Malfoy.” Harry responded and with that the game began. Harry was busy looking for the snitch when he noticed Malfoy was following him. Great he thought. He knew he couldn’t lose Malfoy so it would have to be whoever got the snitch first. Harry spotted it below the other players. He doesn’t waist any time and heads straight for it. Draco sees the snitch and heads for it too. Both of them are head to head, reaching out for the snitch. Draco somehow gets a tiny bit in front of Harry and grabs the snitch. When Malfoy grabbed the snitch he bumped into Harry and Harry lost his balance. The last time he remembers is him falling while hearing the crowd roar.
Harry woke up to an alarm clock in an unknown area. He started to look around and didn’t recognize where he was. That was until he saw the Slytherin banners hanging around the room. Draco tugs on Harry’s arm. That makes Harry quickly jump out of bed. “Whoa. Sorry for scaring you Harry. Come on we’re going to be late for breakfast.” Draco throws Harry a Slytherin tie. “Hurry up lets go!” Draco says. Harry just stood there in shock. Malfoy just called him Harry, and he was in the Slytherin common room and being told to put on a Slytherin tie. “Is this some kind of joke Malfoy? Why am I here?” Harry screamed at Draco. He was mad and wanted answers now. Draco just looked at Harry confused. Harry had never called him Malfoy before. “Well we’re in our common room if that’s what you’re asking. What’s up with you today?” Draco said with a little chuckle. Maybe Harry was playing a prank on him he thought. Harry still couldn’t believe his ears. “No,” Harry said, “I’m a Gryffindor not a Slytherin. And nothings up with me. We aren’t friends. I hate you.” Harry protested. Draco had had enough. He strikes back with “Ok Harry, you’ve gone too far. We’ve been friends since first year and you’ve always been a Slytherin! Since when do you call me Malfoy? What’s wrong with you, seriously? Do we need to go to madam Pomfrey?” Harry just took a step back. He didn’t know how to process this. He and Draco were friends? And he was a Slytherin? No, this must just be a bad dream Harry thought. It felt so real though. He slaps himself and winces. Draco looks at him alarmed. “Harry what the hell are you doing?” Draco yelled. Harry muttered “I’m fine. We should get going.” Draco just stood there until finally saying “Alright, lets go.”
Harry puts on the unfamiliar green tie and follows Draco out of the Slytherin dorms. They go into the great hall and by habit Harry starts going to the Gryffindor table. Draco grabs him by the arm and whispers “What are you doing? Our tables over here. Are you sure you’re ok?” Harry just looked over to the Gryffindor table and said “Yeah I’m fine. I just want to talk to Ron and Hermione.” Draco walks him to the right table and says “Oh your Gryffindor friends. You can talk to them later. Right now we need to prepare for our first Quidditch match.” Harry nodded and sat next to Malfoy.
Harry didn’t really pay attention to what Malfoy was telling him. He just sat there smiling and nodding. Harry wondered if he was in another world or something. He wanted to find out. Breakfast would be the perfect time to question Mal-Draco. To question Draco. “So,” Harry finally said, “How did we first meet anyway?” Draco looks at him and laughs. “You really don’t remember?” Draco replies still laughing. Harry nods his head. Draco calms himself down and says “We met the first day of school. We we’re touring the school with Gryffindor. That’s where you met your Gryffindor friends.” Harry noticed Draco hadn’t made a bad comment about his friends yet. Harry asked, “So, do you like them?” Draco pauses for a second then says “Not at first. One is a muggle and the other is a mudblood. I thought they were weak, but you were friends with them and soon so was I. I realized they aren’t so bad. I’m just not as close to them as you are.” Harry didn’t believe him. That was impossible. The Draco he knew would never change his ways because of Harry. At least the Draco he knew. Harry soon started to realize that this Draco may be different from the one he knew for the past year.
The first Quidditch game of the year was starting, Gryffindor vs Slytherin. Harry was Slytherins seeker. Draco was on the bleachers cheering him on with Ron and Hermione. Harry found the snitch with ease and the crowd cheered his name. Slytherin had won the game. Apparently, Slytherin has won ever game Harry’s played in since first year. Harry flew down to the field and left. Ron, Hermione, and Draco were waiting for him outside. It was a weird site to see them all together but he didn’t care. They looked happy. “You did great Harry!” Hermione says. “Yeah, but can you let Gryffindor win once?” Ron says and everyone starts laughing. Draco says still snickering “Hey he isn’t that great.” They all laugh together heading back toward the school. Harry very happy. Who knew Draco was so funny? This world might not be so bad Harry thought.
After a few weeks of being there, Harry had completely forgotten about the ‘other world’. His real world. He just remembered it as a weird dream. Harry had also had something else unexpected happen to him. He was starting to have feelings for Draco. It was small at first, just admiring him is what Harry thought. But it soon became obvious that it wasn’t admiration. It was more. Draco’s crystal blue eyes, beautiful blonde hair, the way that he smiled and laughed made Harry get little butterflies in his stomach, and those very kissable lips. At that point Harry knew he had a crush. The problem was he knew Draco wasn’t gay. At least he thought he wasn’t. To be honest he wasn’t sure, but Draco had a very homophobic dad and thought Draco might be the same way. There was no way to tell Draco he was gay because if he did, he would lose the life he never knew he wanted.
Draco and Harry had become really close through the past few weeks. They would skip class and cause mischief together. They would be partners in potions and in all classes. They did everything together. They were the best of friends. One night Draco and Harry were eating dinner when Draco said “Hey Harry, could you meet me in the boys bathroom on the third floor once everyone’s asleep?” Harry looked up at Draco and asked, “What for?” Draco smirked and replied “It’s a secret.” He winked at Harry and Harry felt his face get red. He quickly looked down at his food. Draco had always been a little flirty but that was hot. Harry wasn’t really hungry anymore and couldn’t sleep when they got back. He was too nervous about what Draco was going to tell him. It could be anything. Harry just laid in his bed thinking of what it could possibly be.
The clock struck and it was 12:30. Draco had already gone to the bathroom five minutes ago. He said that the hall monitor owed him and would let him slide. Harry grabbed his invisibility cloak and headed to the third floor bathroom. When he got there Draco was waiting for him smirking. “What took you so long Harry?” Draco teased. “It was only five minutes Draco, chill.” Harry replies jokingly. They both laugh and sit down. “So,” Harry starts, “Why did you call me over here anyway?” Draco just pauses and looks down at the ground. “Harry, you wouldn’t hate me for anything, stupid and weird right?” Draco looks up and Harry quickly replies, “Not at all! Your best friend!” Draco winces a bit when Harry says friend. “Are you sure?” Draco askes. “Of course, Draco. You can tell me anything.” Harry says as he scoots closer to Draco. Draco finally looks up and after a long pause says “I think…” he pauses again and looks embarrassed. He gets a faint blush on his face as he says “I think I’m gay Harry.” Harry looks at him shocked. He didn’t know what to say. He really had no idea. What surprised Harry even more is that Draco started to tear up. He had never seen him cry, ever. His instinct kicked in and he hugged Draco. Draco laid down and cried in Harry’s lap mumbling “I-I-t m-eA I-I aghm soO-o-o-o-oRry, h-h-he’ll be mAad. MeEe-e-e-eeeh da-a-a-a-ad ee-I-ieh S-s-sso s-s-rah-rry.” Harry couldn’t understand Draco well but treated him with words of comfort. “It’ll be ok.” Harry would say. “I’m always here for you.” After Draco calmed down a bit he stopped crying. “Draco if you don’t mind, how did you know?” Harry asked. Draco started to tear up again and Harry said “Wait, wait, wait don’t cry! Its ok! You don’t have to tell me.” Draco looked at Harry and screamed “It’s because I like you, you idiot!” Harry looked back at Draco and knew what he had to do. He grabbed Draco’s check and kissed him softly. Draco melted into the kiss. When they pull apart Draco smiles and the laugh happily together.
After that they started secretly dating each other. Harry confessed he was also gay and had a crush on Draco too. They were very happy together. They of course told Ron and Hermione. While Ron stood there with his jaw dropped Hermione just said, “I knew you two were a thing.” They laughed as Ron still stood in shock. They never did anything crazy, just make out in empty bathrooms and classrooms. They would occasionally go on picnic dates in the empty courtyard. Everything was going great. Harry had everything he ever wanted. Of course, nothing lasts forever. Harry had been at Hogwarts for a month when he started getting headaches. Harry had tried to hide and ignore them, but they soon became so strong that Draco noticed too. To make his boyfriend feel better he decided to take Harry on a fancy date. The date was set, and he told Harry to meet him outside Hogwarts at 8 am. Harry agreed not knowing he’s about to have the best day of his life.
Harry woke up early and got ready to met Draco. He grabbed his bag and put it on. He headed out to meet Draco. After a few minutes he finally got out of the school and say his boyfriend waiting for him with flowers. “Hey babe. I heard this is what mu- er humans do. I hope this isn’t too cheesy for you.” Harry laughed and took the flowers from his boyfriend. “These flowers are lovely Draco. Thanks.” Harry smiled and put the flowers in his backpack with the invisibility cloak he had used to sneak out of Hogwarts. “Shall we?” Draco said. Harry grabbed his handed and walked to their date.
Draco had taken Harry into a shopping section in a small little town. Draco himself didn’t really like it but just as he suspected, Harry loved the quaint little town. They looked around for a while when Draco saw this beautiful pair of couple rings. They had blue and green jewels ( just like their eyes ). He somehow bought the rings without Harry noticing and continued on with the date. They watched a muggle movie which they both enjoyed, went to karaoke, and watched the sunset from a fancy restaurant. The day had been perfect.
Before it got dark, Draco took Harry up a tall abandoned hill to watch the stars. They used the invisibility cloak as a blanket and snuggled close together. Draco pulled the rings out of his pockets and stood up. “Harry,” he started “You were the best friend I could ask for the best boyfriend I could ask for. I wish things could stay like this forever which is why,” he shows Harry the rings. “I wanted to give you a promise ring.” Harry started tearing up. He was smiling so wide his face hurt. “Where did you even get the rings?” Harry asked while Draco bent down on one knee to put the ring on Harry’s finger. “Bought it while you weren’t looking cutesy” Draco said. Harry leaned in as they shared one final loving kiss. Harry and Draco smiled. This was perfect. Before Harry could enjoy the moment a little longer he got a horrible headache that sent him to floor. “AAaahhh!” Harry screamed. Draco quickly jumped to Harry’s side and said “Harry! Are you ok?” Harry quickly muttered “It hurts Draco. Help.” The last thing he saw and heard was Draco getting up and saying “I’ll get help. We’ll get through this.” As Draco ran off the world around Harry became dark and soon, he passed out.
Harry awoke to be in the Hogwarts hospital wing. That’s where Draco must have taken him. Teachers and his friends are all surrounding him. He takes a moment to look around and he doesn’t see Draco. “How are you feeling Harry?” Dumbledore said. Harry responded with “Where’s Draco?” The teachers looked around confused and Hermione says “Why would Draco be here?” Harry was confused now as well and says “Well, he brought me here, right? Last night?” Everyone was silent when Harry responded. Finally, Hermione says “Harry,” she pauses rethinking her words “You’ve been in a coma for the whole first month of school.” “But Hermione took notes for you!” Ron blurts out. Hermione elbows him the arm. “Ron!” Hermione whispers. Harry mutters “weird.” He looks for the promise ring on his finger. There’s nothing there. “Where’s my tie?” The teachers pass him his old Gryffindor tie and he freaks out. “What is this? I’m a Slytherin! Why aren’t you giving me a Slytherin tie? I need to see Draco. He must be worried sick.” They all looked at him shocked. Ron blurted out again “Harry, Malfoy’s the one that knocked you down!” Hermione hit him harder this time and said “Be quiet!” Harry got a small headache as he remembered what happened a month ago. No no no no no NO! “It’s almost like I was in another world.” Harry says to himself. He finally realized he was back in his own world. He tears up thinking he left his Draco behind. “Can I have some time alone?” Harry’s crying at this point and the teachers leave him alone. Ron and Hermione, on the other hand, are now worried than before. “Harry tell us what happen-“ “Get out! Both of you!” Harry yelled cutting off Hermione. She lets out a sigh and says “Fine.” In a faint voice as she pulls Ron out of the room. Harry was left alone to cry as he lost the love of his life.
