Work Text:
*5-year-old Teddy excitedly jumped out of the car the minute his father finished unhooking him. He began to run towards the entrance gate, but Remus stopped him. The boy was understandably excited, as his parents were taking him to a muggle zoo for the very first time. *
Teddy: I wanna see the tigers!
*The blue-haired child shifted his appearance to include a whiskered nose and fluffy orange ears. *
Tonks: You can't do that here, okay? These people can't know you can do that. We'll see the tigers soon, okay?
*Teddy changed back to his normal appearance. *
Remus: He might want to put his hair back to normal too. Make it brown.
Tonks: Oh, come on, let him have a little fun.
Remus: People don't need anything else to whisper about, okay? We don't need this entire zoo thinking we let a five yar old dye his hair. Sorry, Teddy, but your hair can't be blue here. You can change it back once we get home, I promise.
*Teddy reluctantly turned his hair brown. *
Tonks: These people don't know anything about us, they aren't going to whisper. Now, let's go see some tigers!
*Once they were inside the zoo, they headed straight for the big cat exhibit. Unfortunately, there was a minor setback.*
Remus: Dora, look at that sign.
*The tigers were off display, as the exhibit was being renovated. *
Remus: So, what do we want to tell him?
*Tonks turned to Teddy. *
Tonks: You know what? Why don't we start over by the otters? You like otters, right?
Teddy: I wanna see the tigers!
Remus: We could go see the lions.
Teddy: Tigers!
Remus: The tigers aren't here right now.
Teddy: Where are they?
Tonks: They're inside.
*Remus and Tonks braced themselves for Teddy to pitch a fit. Instead, the boy just smiled.*
Teddy: Okay, we can see the manatees instead.
