Work Text:
I met God.
He speaks softly and serenely, each word soothing over my tired ears.
“Could I ask you some questions?” I question.
He welcomes my inquiry with open arms.
"Why, why did you take my cat?"
His breath is warm when it brushes over me as he sighs.
He sits and thinks of his answer.
I watch and let him.
We have nothing but time.
He draws in some air before replying again.
"If I hadn't intervened, he would have lived a life of pain and sadness."
Now I am the one to sigh.
I suppose he is right.
"But why didn't you save him? Why not make him better?"
He is quiet once again.
"I don't give anyone hurdles that they cannot overcome-"
"Then why do I wish that I died with him?"
