"That was wild!" Jake exclaimed as he pushed open the glass doors into McDonald's.
His loud voice startled the security guard who was discreetly trying to doze off. It had also earned their group several judging stares from a few customers—as if it is blasphemous to be that energetic at 2:00 AM in the morning. (maybe it is)
They had just gotten out of a party—one that their close senior friend Heeseung had thrown.
The remnants of the crazy affair could still be detected from them—in the form of alcohol spills on their shirts, traces from the glitter bombs that they were not able to wash off, and silver confettis still stuck in some of their hairs (Jake sporting the most of them).
"Okay," Jungwon began after ending the call. "Jay-hyung is on his way to pick us up." he informed his companions as he pocketed his phone.
They would have asked Jay to just pick them up on the house where the party was at, but Jake complained about being hungry. And at that time, all food had already been cleared—save for some chips and alcohol.
So they decided to eat at McDonald's first: which was quite near—more or less, a 3-minute walk from there.
Jake wildly shook his hair like a puppy, causing pieces of confettis to fall around him—the employee that was mopping the floor definitely did not look pleased.
"What do you guys want to eat?" Jungwon asked, looking up at the menu.
"Cheeseburger and nuggets please." Jake answered offhandedly. From the corner of his eyes, the actions of the pair standing on his left side managed to catch his attention.
Aww, will you look at those two... Jake shook his head fondly.
A sleepy Sunoo stood unsteadily on his feet, leaning—no, clinging!—onto Ni-ki's back, limp arms thrown around the taller one's shoulders.
The blonde-haired dancer tried—and failed—to hide the tiny smile that graced his lips for being at the receiving end of the older pink-haired boy's skinship.
Cute.
"How about you Ni-ki?" Jungwon asked.
"Fries and Choco sundae" Ni-ki replied.
"How about Sunoo-hyung?" Jungwon threw him a peek.
"Hrm…phmcakes…” The pink-haired boy said, face muffled against the back of Ni-ki’s hoodie.
“It’s 2 AM hyung, breakfast meals aren’t available yet.” Jungwon explained.
Sunoo just made a weak “whatever” gesture with his hand, not moving an inch from their tall maknae’s back.
“We’ll just get you coffee hyung" Ni-ki sighed, glancing at the sleepy strawberry-head on his back who just made a half-hearted thumbs up. It seems that the older couldn’t be bothered with food at the moment—as he was more intent on remaining in this warm, comfortable position and sleep!
"And can you get extra packets of sugar and creamer too, Jungwonie-hyung?" Ni-ki added in a rush, as if an afterthought.
Sunoo doesn't like too bitter things.
Hah! Whipped! Jake though.
"Sureee~" Jungwon dragged the word, shaking his head in amusement.
"We'll look for seats." Jake declared.
"Ok." Sunghoon and Jungwon replied, both walking towards the counter to order.
"Come with me lovebirds." Jake chuckled teasingly.
"Stop joking around hyung." Ni-ki pouted while his ears turned red. Nevertheless, he still followed Jake's lead—making sure to walk a bit slower, as to allow the sluggish Sunoo to keep up.
Once they picked the table they wanted, Sunoo immediately stumbled into the chair first—eyes barely-even open as his face almost slamming into the table—if not for Ni-ki grabbing him by the arm, it would have been a big calamity. Once seated, Sunoo began to doze off once again.
"Aish, he should be more careful… Who told him to drink so much when he was such a lightweight? geez…" Ni-ki muttered under his breath, shaking his head disapprovingly.
He's already acting like a protective boyfriend…when they are not even dating yet!!! Haha. This kid, really. XD Jake thought chuckling to himself.
Jungwon arrived first, carrying his, Ni-ki and Sunoo's food.
Not long after, Sunghoon arrived with his and Jake's food.
Jake immediately dug into his chicken nuggets and took some of Sunghoon's fries—lucky for him, the taller didn't seem to mind this.
On the other side of the table, Ni-ki was ripping open several packets of sugar and creamer and pouring generous amounts of it into Sunoo's coffee before stirring it with a plastic stick—he managed to do all these without taking his attentive eyes off the strawberry boy's cute, sleeping face.
"He's gonna melt." Jake joked once again.
"Huh?" Ni-ki asked, snapping out of whatever daze he was in.
"Your sundae." Jungwon answered with a sassy roll of his eyes and a big sigh of exasperation, pointing at the neglected chocolate-covered cup of swirl in front of Ni-ki.
Sunghoon snickered.
"Ah, just a minute." Ni-ki said before he gently woke Sunoo up.
Rubbing his eyes, the pink-haired boy managed to awaken. He accepts the drink that Ni-ki handed to him.
After taking a sip, Sunoo's fox eyes crinkled prettily as he smiled up at the maknae in thanks.
Ni-ki (caught off-guard by the sudden attack of overwhelming cuteness) cleared his throat awkwardly before turning his face to hide his reddening of his cheeks.
The scene is both the most adorable, and at the same time, most frustrating shit to watch.
Sunki cowards. Jake thought with a big, dramatic sigh.
"They are so obvious, it hurts." Jake whispered to Jungwon, as if in disbelief.
Their young, cat-like friend gave Jake a weird look—pursed lips and squinting eyes that is full of judgement.
"What's with that look? Is there something on my face?" Jake asked in puzzlement.
"Let me see." Sunghoon interjected and Jake automatically turned his face to his taller, fellow 02-liner bestfriend.
There was, indeed a small smudge of sauce.
“Hmm let me get it” Sunghoon hummed before picking up a paper napkin and oh so delicately tilting Jake’s chin up— completely unnecessary, if you ask Jungwon—before wiping the corner of his lips.
"There, it's gone." Sunghoon smiled— eyes curved like crescents and canines on full display. (And ya’ll gotta admit that’s kinda sus, cuz wiping your “bro’s” face shouldn’t warrant that much big of a smile.)
"Thanks." Jake grinned brightly, eyes crinkling in gratefulness, at the taller before turning back to Jungwon—who is now raising an eyebrow at them.
"So as I was saying...” Jake continued talking as if that little moment didn't happen. “Why can't they just be together, you know??? It’s so obvious they like each other!!!"
Jungwon maintained his judging expression at his hyungs a bit longer.
Like seriously? When you and Sunghoon just did 'that' in front of my Mcflurry—
"Whatever, I can't stand you all." Jungwon finally said, giving up when Jake continued to look at him with big clueless eyes.
Acting all cute and gross together but are actually extremely dumb and oblivious eye—
Jungwon pulled out his phone to text his Jay-hyung to hurry up because he already can't with these people!
"What's up with him?" Jake turned back to Sunghoon while pointing at Jungwon who is dead-set on ignoring them now.
"No clue." Sunghoon shrugged—as he was too distracted in picking up some pieces of foil that were still able to stubbornly remain on Jake's hair.
Sharp-eyed Ni-ki managed to witness the exchange from across the table and he simply rolled his eyes.
"Jakehoon idiot hyungs."
