Lazy day [Bucky x Reader]

Summary:

You wake up while Bucky is out running errands. You decide to be productive, but once he returns home, the two of you decide today isn’t the day for productivity

Work Text:

You woke up in an empty bed and sighed, Buck had been off on a mission for about a month? Nope. He had only been gone for thirty minutes. And he wasn’t even out of town, he had a short list of errands to run that day. You pulled the sheets up to your nose, taking in the faint smell of Bucky. The smell of lavender vanilla rushed through your nasal passage, his- your perfume always smelled so nice. You always had two or three bottles lying around. On your second date, Bucky commented that he really liked the way you smelled. That following week he came over to hang out with you, and decided to spritz himself with the perfume a few times. Just so he could have an intangible, but hard to forget piece of you.
You slid your legs off the side of the mattress and looked around the room. Your eyes made their way to your nightstand where you found a pink post-it note. ‘I hope my favorite fella has the greatest day’ the note read. You smiled and stepped off the bed. The cold tile stinging just a bit when your feet hit the floor. You made your way around the bed, tucking the sheets neatly under the mattress. You then folded the edge of the sheets over themselves and fluffed the pillows.
After brushing your teeth and going through your morning skincare routine, you made your way to the kitchen. The apartment you shared with Bucky was a one bedroom studio apartment. It was nicely furnished, a little cramped for most, but was more than enough for the two of you. You filled a kettle with water and turned the knob to turn on the heat. You leaned on the kitchen counter as you patiently awaited the water to boil. The time read 9:45AM. You scrolled through various social media platforms, you came across Tony’s profile, where you saw an image of him, Buck, and the rest of the Avengers sitting in a meeting. You closed the app and opened your messages app.

You: Good mornin Buck! I found your note!

You looked through photos of the two of you and smiled.

Buck: Mornin hon, sleep well?

You: Coulda been better :(

Buck: What’s wrong doll?

You: I didn’t get to see your dumb face when I woke up that’s what.

Buck: Oh your too sweet! I’ll be home before you know it.

The back and forth texts sent a rosy blush to your cheeks. The water still had yet to reach a boil, and a window had been left ajar the night before. The brisk air flowed smoothly into the apartment. You made your way to Bucky’s closet and pulled one of his sweatshirts from the hangers. You took in a deep whiff, smelling the all too familiar fragrance. You smiled and slipped the sweatshirt over your head. The sweatshirt was made of a plush velvet fabric. The sweatshirt was a gift from Tony to Bucky. Bucky hadn’t decided what he had wanted for Christmas. Which wasn’t true, but you and Bucky had been on an extended vacation for… nearly a month. The two of you collectively saved up enough to travel to a few cities along the east coast. Seeing sights and making memories, the vacation had been everything you wanted and more.
Making your way back into the kitchen, you could hear the whistle of steaming hot water. You made your way back to the spot on the counter you had previously been standing over. You opened up the cabinet above you and pulled down a mug. You scooped a tablespoon of coffee beans into the mug and added the hot water. As you stirred the contents inside the mug you switched off the heating element. Your phone buzzed, you peered over to see what was going on.

Buck: ‘1 Attachment’

You unlocked your phone and opened up the file. It was an image of Bucky. His smile made you blush. A message followed the image

Buck: ‘I’m just about done with my errands, I’ll be home in around a half hour.’

——

You had just finished putting away dishes, and tidying the apartment in general when you heard keys turn in the door. You had seen him walking towards the building just a few minutes before as you had put away a few loads of laundry. The windows in your apartment overlooked the walkway that led into the stairwell towards the shared unit. “I'm home, doll!” He called as he pushed the door open, resting his bag by the door. You turned from where you stood in the kitchen and smiled brightly. The two of you walked towards one another and embraced the other, he lifted you off your feet and carried you in his arms. “Have I ever told you how adorable that bedhead of yours is?” He cooed at you as he planted a kiss on your forehead “Oh my god, you are so sappy!” You mocked as you pulled yourself closer to him, your arms wrapped around his neck. You rested your head on his firm chest. “Take me to bed will ya?” You asked, finding comfort in the position you had put yourself in. “Didn’t you just have your morning coffee?” He laughed as he started walking towards the room. You nodded, “I did, but who says we can’t just hang out in bed today?” You asked, Bucky laughed and set you down on the bed. “I think I’d like that too.” He said, leaving only momentarily to change back into his pj’s. When he returned to the bed, you pulled the covers over the two of you. “You don’t have anything going on today do ya?” He asked as he pulled you into his chest and spooned you. “Nuh-uh” you answered, Bucky planted a kiss on the back of your head. “Then we’re gonna stay right here all day.” A furious blush rose to your cheeks. A warm sensation overtook your body, you snuggled closer to the super-soldier and drifted back to the realm of the unconscious.
