Moon Blinking — a temporary blindness occurred by looking at the moon; also a myth that mirrors the belief that staring at the moon can make you insane
There was something about the moon to Colby. It was a comfort, a past-lover, that stayed in the darkness beside him. He liked that comfort when he was out investigating or at abandoned places.
The moon also felt like a missing piece. He felt like he was a part of the moon, floating endlessly in nothingness. Sometimes he wished he could do that same thing.
Late at night, when Jake and Corey are sound asleep and Sam is doing god-knows-what, Colby throws off the blankets of his bed and walks to the sliding glass door. He perches himself on the balcony, but he never looks down. He looks up, staring at the moon.
And then he will reach for it.
And sometimes, he feels like he is the moon— floating in darkness amongst the stars.
