"Kris?"
You looked over his shoulder, noticing he was looking at a small cat hiding in the bushes.
"Oh it's a cat. Are they yours?"
Kris turned to face you, shaking his head.
"So they're a stray huh? Hmm..."
You thought about what to do for a second, watching as the cat approached Kris, gently rubbing their face against his extended hand.
"I know! We should go over to Sans' supermarket! It's usually...not open...but I could've sworn I saw some cans of cat food there! It's worth a try right?"
"Sure, let's go", he said with a soft smile.
You smiled back at him and the two of you made your way over to Sans' supermarket.
. . .
"We got pretty lucky, I can't believe it was actually open today."
Kris nodded, taking a sip of the drink Sans threw in since you two were his first customers. The color threw you off, so you decided not to drink it, but Kris seemed to not have a problem with trying it. You watched intently as he took a sip.
"How is it...?"
Kris gave the label a once over, before shrugging. He then handed the drink over to you, gesturing for you to try it as well. You grabbed it hesitantly, eyeing Kris suspiciously as he handed it to you. "Are you sure it doesn't taste weird?" He just smiled. Seeing as he didn't show much of a reaction, you decided it wouldn't hurt to try it. You took the drink from him, taking a sip. Almost instantly, you made a face, earning a chuckle from Kris.
"You liar! This tastes awful!"
He gave you another smile, this time, one a bit more mischievous in nature than the last.
The two of you made it back, but the cat was no where to be seen.
"Huh, the cat's gone."
A bit dejected, you sat down. Kris however, knelt down, realizing there was a small opening between a couple bushes. He slowly made his way inside, disappearing behind the thick shrubs. It had been a while and there was still no sign of him coming back so you decided to follow him inside. Just as you were kneeling down where he had, you heard the slight rustling of leaves. It was quiet for a moment until Kris burst out from the opening, taking you by surprise.
"Kris what the heck?!"
He laughed, watching you as you sat up, brushing some grass off from your knees. He offered you his hand. Taking it, he began to lead you towards the small opening between the bushes. Realizing he hadn't let go of your hand despite already having helped you up, you felt a small blush creep onto your face.
"Hey Kris? Where are we going?"
"She's over here."
You noticed the cat from earlier laying underneath a small shrub, along with two other smaller kittens.
"Oh my goodness they're so cute! I guess she's a bit busy right now though. Should we leave the cans open here for her to eat later?"
Kris nodded.
You and Kris opened both of the cans and set them down in front of the shrub.
"I guess we should leave them be for now. Should we come visit them again tomorrow?"
"That'd be nice."
"Okay, let's get going then."
Before you got up, Kris grabbed your hand once more.
"Wait. There's somewhere else I want to bring you."
Raising a brow, you knelt back down next to Kris.
"Where to?"
"You'll see."
He led you a bit further down the dense patch of bushes. Finally reaching the edge of the shrubs, he made his way out first, offering you his hand to help you up.
"Wow, you can see the whole lake from here! Is this why you took a while to come back?"
Kris just smiled.
"It's really pretty."
Kris looked like he wanted to say something, but decided not to and instead sat down next to you. The two of you sat there for a while, taking in the view, until Kris spoke up.
"Hey (Y/n)?"
"Yeah?"
"How come you talk to me all the time?"
"Oh I-I'm sorry, does it bother you? I should've asked if it was-" You tried moving your hand away from his, but he just continued holding onto your hand firmly.
"It doesn't bother me."
He pulled at his fringe anxiously with his other hand.
"It makes me feel...really happy, but I just can't understand..."
Seeing him struggle for words you leaned closer to him, holding his hand tightly.
"Sorry. I didn't mean to make you feel like this. I just really like talking to you. Being with you, in fact. Those days when we go to the diner and just enjoy each other's company without needing to talk about anything. I just...".
You trailed off, realizing you were beginning to ramble. You tried pulling your hand away from his once again to cover your flushed face, but Kris held on tightly.
"Don't hide your face. You look nice."
"Even now you're teasing me...", you hung your head, embarrassed to show your face to him.
"Haha sorry", he chuckled.
He finally let go of your hand and you brought it to his chin, bringing his face up to face yours.
"Kris, would you mind if I tried something?"
Confused and a bit nervous, all he could muster to say was a small 'mhm'.
Before he could prepare yourself for what you were about to do, he realized you had leaned in and placed your lips against his lightly. Just as quickly as it began it came to an end, and Kris' face was flushed.
"It was about time I teased you too." You laughed, watching as Kris hid his face in his hands.
"Wanna do it again?"
You could've sworn you saw his ears turns a darker shade of red and he just nodded. You finally understood why Kris liked teasing you so much.
