*Remus felt Tonks lean against him as he turned the page of his novel. It had been a long day, but they were finally back at headquarters. They finally had some peace and quiet. The two of them had recently discovered that snuggling on the couch was the best way to celebrate a job well done. Remus would get a book and Tonks would grab a crossword that she would ultimately set down in favor of sleeping on his shoulder. It was their routine. Today, however, Tonks had other plans. She took the book from Remus's hand, marked his page, and set it on the coffee table. She then made her way into his lap and grabbed his hand. He went to say something and she shushed him. Remus pulled their intertwined hands up to his lips and kissed her hand. He felt more relaxed than ever. Winding down after a hectic day was a lot harder with the first Order of the Pheonix. James would always dramatically recount the day's adventures as Sirius poured drinks. They'd all stay up for hours and keep the adrenaline rush going. He liked the way things were in the present moment a lot better. He was finally loved, happy, and calm.*
