A simple peck on the lips

Summary:

Harry looked like he’d spent most of the night agonising over Draco’s little goodbye kiss after their date-not-date at a Puddlemore United vs. Ballycastle Bats game. (Which wasn't that far from the truth.)

Notes:

Based on prompt number 62. “I apologise sincerely if my beautiful/handsome face has kept you up all night.”

Happy reading <3

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Harry?” Draco raised an eyebrow as he opened the door. “Good morning. What brings you to my humble abode?” The house was not humble. It was a four-story mansion protected by a Fidelius because even though it’s been ten years since the war has ended, many, many people still held grudges.

“Can I come in? We need to talk. I couldn’t stop thinking about you. About yesterday. I – we, we need to talk. Can I come in?”

Harry did look like he’d spent most of the night agonising over Draco’s little goodbye kiss after their date-not-date at a Puddlemore United vs. Ballycastle Bats game.

“Well, come in,” Draco said, standing aside so Harry could enter the foyer. “I apologise sincerely if my handsome face has kept you up all night.”

“What?” Harry frowned at him. “Oh. Not it didn’t. Only part of the night. Wait, what?”

Draco snorted and then shook his head. “Come on. We can share a drink in the living room.”

“Something strong, please,” Harry begged, and Draco silently agreed. If Harry was panicking about a simple peck on the lips, then this was going to be an incredibly interesting conversation.

Once drinks were poured, dark amber and dry as a desert, but strong enough to kill a camel, Draco motioned for Harry to pick a seat and then smirked in satisfaction when he chose the sofa. It was an excellent sofa. Versatile. One could sleep on that sofa without a worry in mind. It was also an amazing setting for a make-out session which was hopefully in its near future.

“So,” Draco began after a sip of his drink. “What’s bothering you?”

“Why did you kiss me yesterday?”

“Because I felt like it,” Draco shrugged. “I saw your lips and I thought, ‘Well wouldn’t it be nice if I kissed those lips of his? They look so divinely kissable’. Understand what I mean?”

It was clear by Harry’s expression that he did not understand.

“So you just… you just kissed me, like, as an impulse… ?” Harry asked slowly and then looked down to his drink before taking a big swig of it. “No other reason?”

Draco stared at him, half concerned, half amused, half fond – even though he knew there were only two halves to a person.

“Harry,” he said slowly, putting his glass on the coffee table and taking Harry’s to do the same. “I’m attracted to you. Physically. And emotionally. I kissed you because I’ve been thinking about kissing you since you spilt your stupid one sickle coffee all over my shirt. I don’t just go around kissing people.”

“Oh,” Harry nodded slowly. “Good. Did you, er, did you think about more than kissing? Maybe?”

“Yesterday was a date, Potter,” Draco said with an exasperated sigh. If they could just skip all this and go right to Harry accepting the fact they were in a relationship now, so they could proceed to the making out part, that’d be great.

“Oh. Oh!”

“Yes, oh!”

Harry was quiet for a moment. “Does that mean you’ll kiss me again? Maybe for long enough, I can actually respond this time?”

“I did sit on the couch next to you, now, didn’t I?”

Their eyes met and Draco was pretty sure it was actually Harry who kissed him, but it wasn’t like it mattered. They go to the making out part either way.
