Injured boyfriend

Summary:

When his boyfriend is injured and Peter has to bring him back to the Tower, will he manage to keep his secret from his family? Or will they finally know about his secret boyfriend?

Work Text:

Peter tried to slow his racing mind. Too much blood. Heartbeat too faint. He closed his eyes and took a deep breath, trying to clear his mind of the image of Matt's bloody figure. Where could he take him? The first image which popped up in his mind was the tower. Probably not the best idea, but they did have amazing doctors. Who could heal Matt in record time.

Fuck it, his boyfriend's life was more important than his coming out to his family.

Peter slowly slipped his arms under Matt's limp body. If he couldn't hear his heartbeat, he would've sworn the man was dead, and that was terrifying. He stuck himself to his boyfriend, and started swinging towards the tower. Swinging with only one arm and a body attached to you was incredibly difficult, but he managed. When Peter caught sight of the Tower in the distance, he nearly sobbed in relief. He knew where the med bay was, considering the number of times he went there.

Peter launched a final web, before crashing into the med bay window. It startled the workers, but he didn’t care. He hurried towards a free table, and gently lay Matt on it. He had had the presence of mind to take off his suit before coming, so that he didn’t reveal his identity.

“Quick! He’s injured! Do something!” he yelled to the nurses.

They immediately got to work, cleaning and examining his injuries. Peter got ushered out of the room so that they could do their work. He wanted to protest, but he knew it was no use. So he walked, dejected, towards his room. When he passed through the living room of the penthouse, the Avengers currently here asked him questions, but he didn’t bother answering.

When he was finally in his room, he slumped heavily against the door. Slowly, he took his costume off before stepping into the shower. He scrubbed his body harshly, trying to get rid of all the blood. So much blood… Too much… Matt’s blood. He didn’t even realize he was crying until the tears started blurring his sight. Peter let himself fall into the bathtub, his skin raw from scrubbing, the hot water doing nothing to clear his mind. He sobbed his heart out, mind stuck on the vision of Matt’s limp body.

When the water started to turn cold, Peter finally decided to go reassure his family. He got out of the bath and dried his red skin. He quickly changed into sweatpants and one of Matt’s sweatshirts before going down to the living room. Steve was cooking, Tony was doing something on his tablet, Clint and Bruce were watching TV, and Nat was braiding Wanda’s hair. She was the first to notice him, and a concerned look etched onto her features.

“Hey Pete. Are you okay? You were covered in blood when you came in a while ago.”

“I’m fine Nat, it wasn’t my blood.”

By now, all of the occupants of the room had noticed the young man and his disheveled state.

“Your eyes are red, you look like you’ve been crying.” Steve observed.

“I’m fine, you don’t need to worry about me.”

“I would listen, but you’re the type of people who never tells others how he really feels and keeps everything to himself, so I won’t.” Tony smirked at him.

“That’s not true.” countered Peter, thinking about all the afternoons cuddled with Matt on the couch, ranting about his day and how annoying people were and how his life sucked but was awesome at the same time. Or about when he came home crying and Matt always found a way to comfort him.

Thinking about Matt led him to think about his bloodied body again, and Peter squeezed his eyes shut, trying desperately to get rid of the memory.

“Obviously, you’re not fine Peter.” Nat said.

The boy ignored them all and hurried towards the elevator. He pressed harshly on the button, watching as the elevator doors closed slowly. The calm elevator music did nothing to stop his racing mind. When the doors finally opened, he rushed towards the room where he left Matt. He stopped right in front of the door, watching the inside of the room by the window. He knocked on the door, and a nurse came to open it.

“What can I do for you?” she asked.

“I brought someone here a while ago, I was wondering if I could see him.”

The nurses of the Avenger’s private med bay knew his identity, so he didn’t have to worry about keeping it a secret here.

“Oh, yes, he just came out of surgery, so he’s still asleep, but he’ll be fine. He should wake up in a few hours.”

Peter smiled at the nurse, before entering the room. Matt was laying on a bed to his right, so he hurried towards him. He pulled a chair next to the bed and sat, eyes trailing over his boyfriend’s body. He gently took his hand and squeezed it slightly. He was relieved to see that Matt looked fine, except from a few still pink wounds. He let his head rest on Matt’s chest, taking in a deep breath. He was fine, he would be fine. Peter let his eyes close, and with the adrenaline and the panic gone, exhaustion washed over him and he quickly fell asleep.

A few hours later, he woke up to stirring. He yawned and lifted his head. He felt his hand being squeezed, and immediately shot up in his seat.

“Hey Pete.” Matt smiled at him from where his upper body was propped up on a pillow.

“You’re awake!” Peter exclaimed. He threw himself over Matt’s body, resting his head on his shoulder. “Never do that again.” he mumbled, the sound slightly muffled.

“I can’t promise that, you know it’s in the job description.”

“There’s no job description, dumbass.”

Matt chuckled slightly, pulling Peter’s face up to his. He kissed him slowly, a silent promise that they would be alright. Peter wrapped his entire body around Matt’s, as if to shield him from the world. When they pulled away, Peter gazed at his boyfriend’s face, smiling slightly.

“I love your eyes.” he murmured.

“I told you I don’t like compliments, I can’t say anything back. Plus, my eyes are literally almost white.”

“I know. They’re special. That’s what makes them beautiful. And, you don’t have to say anything back. But, if you really want to, you can always tell me what a great ass I have. At least I’ll know you won’t be lying.” Peter joked.

Matt shook his head with a fond smile. “You’re an idiot.”

“But I’m your idiot.”

“Sorry, you’re a cheesy idiot.” Matt smirked.

Peter rolled his eyes. “Come here, dumbass.”

He leaned back down, and kissed Matt again. When they parted, Peter frowned.

“The Avengers are probably worried. I looked like a mess when I came in earlier. I was so scared to lose you…” Peter’s voice cracked at the end of his sentence.

“Hey, Pete. I’m here, it’s okay. You’re not getting rid of me any time soon.” Matt reassured, a hand coming up to cup Peter’s cheek. Peter leaned into it, and sighed.

“They’re going to know I brought someone here, and then Tony will do research on you, and either find out about Daredevil, about us, or about both.”

“I personally think I’m pretty good at hiding my identity.” Matt retorted.

Peter snorted. “Matt, you regularly go into a church covered in blood as Daredevil before coming back out a few hours later as Matt. There are many things which, if someone paid close enough attention to them, would give you away.”

Matt simply rolled his eyes. “Fine, whatever. Are you implying you want to tell them?”

“I mean… We’ve been dating for a year and some, maybe it’s time you met my family. And I have to meet yours too, you still haven’t properly introduced me to Foggy or Karen."

“Fair enough. Maybe your family will take pity on a blind guy and let me live.”

Peter shook his head in amusement. “Dumbass.”

As soon as Peter stepped into the living room, every head swiveled in his direction. Worried glances and concerned frowns.

“Peter! Where have you been? You just disappeared!” Tony exclaimed.

“I’m sorry for worrying you guys.” Peter answered sheepishly. “I was in the Medbay.”

“Are you injured? That would explain the blood earlier.” Nat asked.

“No, I told you, it wasn’t my blood. I was just visiting someone there. Sorry for freaking everyone out. It’s been… a rough few hours.”

Steve raised an eyebrow. “Who were you visiting?”

“I actually have something to tell you guys.” Peter closed his eyes and took a deep breath, before opening them again. “I have a boyfriend.”

Ensued a lot of noise. When everyone finally calmed down, Tony asked the questions on everyone’s tongues.

“Who? How long? Age? Job? Where does he live? How did you meet? Does he know about Spider-Man?”

“Wow, one question at a time! He’s actually the one who was in the MedBay. His name is Matt Murdock. We’ve been together for a year and some.”

“Isn’t he that blind lawyer from Hell’s kitchen?” Nat asked.

“How do you know everyone on this entire planet?” Peter shot back. Natasha only smirked. “Yes, he’s the blind lawyer from Hell’s kitchen.”

“Is he still here?” Clint asked. “I wanna meet the boyfriend.”

“Yeah, I’ll go get him.”

Peter hurried out of the room with a relieved sigh. Matt was still waiting for him in the infirmary. He hurried in, a bright smile on his face.

“It didn’t go too badly. But now they want to meet you. Make sure to act blind.”

“Pete, I’ve been acting blind my whole life, don’t worry about it.”

“Yeah, I know, just… nervous.” Peter exhaled a long sigh.

Matt chuckled at his nervousness. “It’s going to be fine. Don’t worry, they’re your family, they’ll support you.”

Peter nodded with a small smile. He knew Matt couldn’t see it, but he still had the habit. He laced his hands with his boyfriend’s, placing a soft kiss on his lips.

Peter came back in, Matt clinging to his extended arm.

“I’m gonna stop.” He said towards his boyfriend. “We’re in front of the couch. Guys, say hi when I say your name. At the left is Clint, then Nat, then Steve. On the other couch, to the right, there’s Tony and Bruce. In the kitchen there’s Sam and Bucky.”

“Why did you describe everyth-” Tony was cut off by an elbow in the ribs from Bruce. “Oh! Right, sorry.”

“Nice to meet you, Mr. Murdock.” Natasha started.

“Matt.”

“Sorry, Matthew.” Peter rolled his eyes, knowing Natasha was doing it to annoy him. “I read your file. Lawyer in Hell’s kitchen. You somehow win all your cases. And only plead for innocents. How do you do it?”

“I have a sort of instinct for this. You can hear it in people’s voice when they’re lying. Most people don’t notice.”

“That’s great and all but we’ll leave your spy interrogation for later Natasha. The more important questions first.” Tony interrupted. “How old are you?”

“Oh god, we are NOT doing this!” Peter exclaimed. “I’m 21, we don’t have to go through the whole boyfriend interrogation thing!”

“Yes, we do.” Tony insisted. “Now, how old are you?”

“I’m 29.”

“Peter that’s 8 years!”

“Yes, I am aware. Now please continue so this gets done as quickly as possible.” Peter groaned.

“How did you meet?” Steve asked with a gentle smile.

They had actually met as Spider-Man and Daredevil, but they couldn’t tell the others that, so they had come up with a story. “He couldn’t find the caramel sauce in a coffee shop, so I helped him. I found him cute, so I asked him on a date. He said yes. End of the story.”

“You asked him on a date? Didn’t know you were that bold, Pete. Anyways, does he know?”

“That was very subtle, Tony.” Peter snarked. “Yes, he knows I’m Spider-Man.”

“Did you two have sex yet?”

“Omg, Tony! You don’t ask that!” Peter exclaimed with wide eyes. He heard Matt chuckle behind him, and whirled around. “Don’t you dare laugh, Murdock! You’re a Christian, isn’t talking about sex seen badly or something?”

“I don’t have any shame talking about your cute ass.” Matt muttered, knowing Peter could hear him. The boy turned a deep shade of red.

“What did he say?” Clint asked, turning towards Steve, who was also growing red.

“They definitely did it.” he answered.

Peter pouted and turned his back to Matt. The man just chuckled, reaching out to wrap Peter in a hug, his back pressed against Matt’s chest.

“Ugh, you two are sickeningly cute.” Sam gagged from the kitchen.

Peter rolled his eyes, picked up his boyfriend and carried him away from his crazy family. Super-strength was useful in certain situations.
