Comfort

Summary:

Omori isn't doing so well. He's been stuck in Whitespace as Purgatory for God knows how long. He's sad. Stranger, of all people, helps him.

Notes:

Ooh, another fic I like! There is a stunning LACK of Omori/Stranger content, and I think that is a CRIME. The two can have all sorts of weird and wacky dynamics based on what people think of them. I'm adding onto that, with this sequel to Resting.

Now if only we had enough Sunbaked content as well...

Either way, enjoy Omori and Stranger being gay disasters.

Also be prepared for some Angst--

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

A lone, monochrome boy sits in an infinitely spanning Whitespace. He's not doing much. In fact, he looks...sad.

Depressed, even.

He couldn't understand why, as this place was seen as a sanctuary to him back then…

Why did he feel as though he was...struggling?

Welcome Back to Whitespace.

You've been stuck here for as long as you can remember.

Omori has been feeling miserable as of late. He sits in his little shaded room, without anything to do. He sighs, laying himself on the ground. He was waiting for something, no, anything to happen. Whitespace had been less of a peaceful realm, and more of an endless purgatory to Omori. He had been stuck here for...who knows or cares how long.

The main issue about this is that Omori has been…

So SO lonely lately.

Don't get him wrong, he was very happy to see Sunny confess and heal. He even reconnected with his friends. But, then again…

...what about him?

He had gotten better, and grown psychologically, but he wouldn't step into the Neighbor's Room for a while after what he did earlier. Being stuck in here with nothing to do drove him to insanity.

Omori felt broken.

Mentally broken.

He was drawing in his notebook now, drawing anything that came to his very bored mind. He was working on one drawing, until he suddenly stopped.

He sets down the pencil on the page he was on before he closes his eyes. A tear rolls onto the page.

The pained sobs of Omori fill the air of Whitespace.

He cries.

Cries.

Cries some more.

Wet, warm, and salty tears rolled down Omori's eyes and onto his hands, some even landing on the page of the notebook. Omori just couldn't take it anymore. He was going to be alone for the rest of his sad, depressing, meaningless life.

"...Omori?"

Omori turns around and sees Stranger looking at him from a distance.

"...Stranger?" Omori sniffles.

"...What are you doing here?" Stranger looked at Omori, annoyed at the fact that the monochrome boy even exists still.

"I should be asking you the same question." He replies coldly.

"What are YOU doing in this space?"

Omori didn't say anything for a few moments.

"...It doesn't matter."

Stranger eyes Omori, curiously.

"I'm an absolute waste of space. I don't deserve a life. I don't deserve a second chance. I don't deserve forgiveness." Omori curls his legs to his chest and turns away from Stranger.

"I don't deserve anything."

Stranger was surprised. Hearing Omori speak that way...no, hearing him speak at all, wasn't normal. Was he always like this? Stranger walks away from his spot, still keeping his distance from Omori. He looked at him. Nothing was different about him.

Wait...his eyes. They were red.

"...Omori...have you been crying?"

"...Why do you care?"

Stranger didn't answer. He simply walked to and sat next to Omori.

Omori couldn't care less at this point. The two sit in silence for a little while before Stranger decides to speak up again.

"...How long have you been here, Omori?"

"...I don't know."

"What have you been doing ever since you've been here?"

"...Nothing."

Stranger suddenly felt all of his hate for Omori evaporate into thin air. He didn't feel pity, no…

He felt worried about him.

Omori had been here, alone and doing nothing for only who knows how long. Hearing Omori in pain scared Stranger. He couldn't begin to know why. He thought he hated Omori.

...Maybe he didn't.

Stranger notices the black notebook on the floor. He grabs it and turns through the pages. Omori's drawings were really…

Interesting. He then came across a certain page of the notebook. Omori hadn't really been reacting to Stranger looking through his drawings.

"Whoa...what's this?" Stranger asked, surprised.

"Is...is that me?"

Now THAT made Omori react. He lunges for the notebook. Stranger took notice of this action and moved quickly to make sure Omori didn't grab it out of his hands. Omori slams back onto the ground in defeat.

"Omori, please...let me look." Stranger looked at the drawing. It was a drawing of him, in all of his shadow-like glory. There were little hearts all around his drawn self. The words, "I miss my Stranger", were below the drawing. Stranger blinked. He had to be dreaming...right? I mean, this was Omori. There was no way he missed HIM, of all people.

[OMORI'S BEEN FOUND OUT

SCATTERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR]

Stranger blushes, making his usually pitch black face a dark red, his mouth and other facial features being fully visible. He hears mumbling below him. He looks and sees Omori crying again, this time out of pure embarrassment.

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I'm sorry…!" He stuttered.

Stranger sits so he's at Omori's eye level. He pulls Omori's arms away from his face to see his eyes red, his tears a little red. Dried tears lay on his pale looking face. Stranger cups Omori's face, making him stare at Stranger, a very sad expression on his face. Oh...he looked so, so broken.

"Omori...oh you poor poor thing…"

Omori didn't exactly have the best amount of energy at the moment, so he allowed Stranger to do whatever he wanted to him. He continued to cry until, to his surprise, Stranger wipes the tears off of Omori's face.

"Hey, don't cry, okay? You're too pure to do so." Omori sniffles.

"You...you don't hate me?" Stranger smiles warmly at Omori. He hugs him, much to Omori's surprise.

"Not anymore I do." Omori blinks in surprise. Stranger lets go of the hug and looks at Omori."

"I can tell that you've changed, Omori. You've gotten better. And I can tell that you mean it too. You're better now, Omori. So no, of course I don't hate you." Omori stared at Stranger, still a little surprised.

"In fact…"

Stranger kisses Omori. Omori's eyes widened. Stranger eventually lets the kiss go.

"...I think I love you, Omo."

Omori was appalled. He wasn't expecting this at all. But at the same time…

He wasn't against it. Stranger smiles at Omori. Omori smiled back at Stanger, embarrassed.

"Th...thanks for being there for me, Stranger."

"You're welcome, Omori." Stranger pats Omori's head.

"You don't have to be a protector anymore. From now on, I'll protect you."

Omori couldn't help but laugh.

"That's so cheesy."

Stranger laughs.

"Well I'm sorry, I can't blame myself for not knowing how to flirt."

"Just get over here."

Stranger sits straight up and lays on Omori's chest. Omori sits straight up and hugs Stranger. The two are at peace.

"Oh, wait!" Stranger says, getting out of Omori's grip.

"I forgot to grab something! Hang on, I'll be back." Stranger ran off, leaving Omori on his own again, much to his dismay. Omori waited, and waited…

And waited.

One minute turned to two.

Three minutes turned to six.

Six turned to nine.

Omori felt worried. Stranger was coming back...right?

"He's not coming back." Omori looked around Whitespace, trying to find the source of the noise.

"Wh...who are you?"

"I'm you, silly! And you know exactly why I'm here."

"N-no…"

"You don't deserve to be redeemed. You're going to die alone."

"No...nononononononono…"

"Stranger isn't coming back, Omori.

Stranger isn't coming back, Sunny.

Basil isn't coming back, Sunny. They'll abandon you. They always do."

"L-leave me alone…"

"Why do you persist? Kill yourself already. You'll be alone forever.

You're annoying.

You're revolting.

You're a waste of space.

Die."

"Get out of my head!"

"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!"

"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!!"

"OMO!"

Omori opens his eyes. He sees a panicked Stranger in front of him.

"O-Omori! You're okay!" Stranger hugs Omori tightly.

"S...Stranger…" Omori hugs Stranger back. He weeps into him. Stranger pats and rubs Omori's back.

"There there…" Stranger lets go of the hug and wipes Omori's tears away once more.

"What happened?" Stranger asked.

"I...I don't know. I think I had a...nightmare, or something.

I-I'm glad you're back though…"

"I'm sorry I took so long...I wanted to give this to you."

Stranger takes out a big red bow. The bow itself is the giant part. The ribbons are rather small, as to wrap around someone's neck.

"I found this during my travels...I thought it would look good on you." Stranger hands Omori the bow. It's...very soft. Very silky. Very fluffy. Omori rubs his head on the bow. He's very comfortable.

"I...I love this!" He yells. Stranger chuckles. He takes the bow and wraps it around Omori. The bow is on the back of his neck, while the ribbon is on the front of his neck. Omori feels the bow. He then looks at Stranger with a goofy yet confused expression.

"...Why'd you put the bow at the back of my neck?" Stranger chuckled.

"I thought it looked unique." Omori sighs before smiling at Stranger again.

"Thank you, Stranger."

Stranger kisses Omori once again.

"You're welcome, Omori. Trust me, I promise I'll never leave your side again."

[that's so cheesy--]

And so, the two sat together in Whitespace, enjoying each other's company. It was nice. It felt great. Whitespace felt…

Peaceful, once again.

"...Stranger?"

"Yes, Omori?"

"...I love you."

"I love you too, Omori."

"N-no...I really do. I-I'm sorry I was so evil and cruel in the past.

"It's okay, Omo. I forgive you." The space is silent.

Suddenly, Omori kisses Stranger's cheek. Stranger smiles at Omori and kisses him back. Omori smiles back.

He didn't feel so alone anymore.

now go give them credit or I swear to God--

Notes:

Who was that mysterious character who messed with Omori?? You'll find out soon...

Let us also add that YES, that was a reference to Bowmori.

I'm sorry, I just love the thought of Omori having a GIANT red bow tied around his neck. And the bow being on the back of his neck too KILLS me.

In any case, I hope you enjoyed this. There's more Omori/Stranger content to come!
