Work Text:
Gabe ran through the halls of the base towards the training room, his heart in his throat. He couldn’t breathe, he couldn’t think, he just had to get there in time. He had to get there-
He rounded the corner and it was too late.
Jesse stood in the middle of the training room, blood pooled around him. Dead bodies littered the floor, each one with an identical hole right between their eyes that their lif blood seeped from.
Jesse slowly looked up to Gabe, the bloody tears streaming down his face. His left eye was still crimson red. His hands were stained with the color despite Gabe knowing his powers didn’t get others’ blood on him.
“I’m sorry,” Jesse choked out. “I’m so sorry.”
“Jesse, what happened?” Gabe asked.
Jesse continued to sob and shook his head, “I’m sorry. She made me do it. She made me…”
“Who-” Gabe cut himself off. It was a pointless question. He knew who. Who else could it possibly be but her?
“I will not let a few casualties stand in the way of progress,” the doctor's voice echoed in his head.
He wouldn't bow down to her, so she took Jesse instead.
A father’s curse forced onto the son.
