Work Text:
In Liyue, there is a legend, of the winds leaving and never returning to the earth again, where the winds fell into a slumber.
The citizens of Liyue were not completely unaware of their God’s recent comings and goings in the Harbour.
Even with the supposed passing of Rex Lapis, the sudden appearance of a young gentleman with the same colours as their beloved God and the same vision as himself as well, it made little sense to the people of Liyue, that Rex Lapis had decided to walk amongst mortals after three millennia of ruling, but they would not question it.
Though, lately, there has been a strange looking bard from Mondstadt who visits this human version of their God, with deep blue hair tinted with the colour of the winds of an Anemo Vision, and eyes that only reflected the sky in them.
It could be but one person, someone with the blessings of the wind and sky who hailed from Mondstadt. Who would visit Rex Lapis but his only other friend amongst the first Seven Archons, the Anemo Archon, Barbatos? They had reasoned it could all be a coincidence, but the Consultant’s geo constructs were one too similar to the markings of the Geo Archon, and the Bard brought stories of their Lord that sounded so out of bounds that it… might’ve been true.
They would watch the two flit around each other, perhaps a gentle brush of hand or an averted gaze while strolling through the marketplace, that this had unofficially become the citizens’ gossip for the time being.
Perhaps it had been so talked about amongst the people, that their vision bearers had heard of it, from the Consultant’s own boss, the Director Hutao, to the Yuheng, Lady Keqing.
And then, the Traveller had caught wind of it, and it was with a rather flushed face had they asked the citizens if it were true, whilst her companion, Lady Ayaka and Thoma from Inazuma seemed to bristle in amusement.
“I should’ve realised sooner,” They would hear their Saviour complain to the Inazumans, “Look at them, what about them does not scream ‘old married couple’-”
At one point, even the rarely present Eleventh Harbinger had heard it, and wheezed himself silly before realising, oh, they’re not joking .... And Tartaglia had joined in on the citizens’ pining for the Wind and Earth Gods to just get together already .
The citizens soon found themselves in the midst of some form of helping one God court the other, whether it be just a few compliments of “Wow, you must be a very happy couple, xiansheng!” or the rather suspicious rise in couple discounts.
Anything for their God, after all.
Some merchants had even begun to sell merchandise of the Anemo Archon next to the Geo Archon. Several sculptors had gone to Mondstadt to look at their native flowers and the Wind God’s Statue of the Seven, as well as the one in Mondstadt’s plaza as well. In little time, there were mini sculptures of the two statues that were sold in bundles, as tourists from other nations began to wonder why the Geo Archon’s people had begun to worship the Anemo Archon as well.
The rumours of the two Archons had reached even the Adepti, it seemed. The Conqueror of Demons was rather present in the Harbour for a while afterwards, and some citizens even mentioned seeing a bird or two flying around.
So, when it came time for the Lantern Rite festival once more, when an order came in from the Tianquan herself for a set of black and gold coloured hanfu with a green and cream coloured hanfu, with instructions to be delivered to the Traveler to give to the Geo Archon, the weaver only giggled and set onto do her work.
Liyue, perhaps, was a little overeager into making the festival the place in which their Archon would confess.
And perhaps, if upon a balcony in Yujing Terrace, did they witness a subtle glow of Geo and Anemo entwining together, and afterwards, a hand interlocked with another, they said nothing more than a “ Congratulations, you two!”
Perhaps the legends were wrong, as at some point, the wind always had to meet the earth at some point.
