Considering how chaotic both Diego and Kevin’s lives were, between running a huge section of a company and running the only radio broadcast in such a large area, their dates were few and far between. But, when the two of them
did
get some time off, they made good use of it. Today Diego and Kevin were at home, cuddling on what had to be the softest bed known to man and watching the trashiest tv they could find.
Kevin was propped up against the headboard, quietly eating sunflower seeds (and making sure none of the shells got on the bed) while Diego laid with his head on the taller man’s chest.
“Oh that was bullshit, her cookies looked great! Didn’t fit the theme my
ass
.” Kevin rolled his eyes, all four of them, and huffed.
“Well, the theme was wild animals and she did make the frosting look like plants.” Diego said, glancing back at his husband with the smallest of smiles.
“You would be right, but she did say that the frosting is based on sponges, which
are
animals. Homophobia.”
“Kevin-” The snort that came from Diego was genuine as he relaxed again, watching the television, “Didn’t know you were so passionate about cooking.”
“I’m not! However, I am passionate about calling out idiots like that judge!” He huffed, a pout growing on his features.
Luckily, that pout was quickly wiped away when Diego placed a kiss on Kevin’s cheek. The response was long arms being wrapped around the shorter of the two as Diego was pulled closer.
“Fiiiine. I guess you’re right.” Kevin huffed, though with his chin resting on top of his husband’s head, it was easy to tell that he wasn’t actually mad.
Which meant their cuddle session continued, even as the sun rose higher and higher over the scorching desert that was Desert Bluffs. While Diego hadn’t always been the biggest fan of the weather here, or lack of it, Kevin thrived in the bright sun and the heat. Though, part of that may be because the man was more eldritch than human. Still, Diego found Kevin far more radiant than the sun, and his husband would say the same about him.
As the episode ended, Kevin stretched, his long limbs almost going off the bed. He glanced at his bag of sunflower seeds, half empty at that point, and gently moved Diego off of him. Standing up, his prosthetic arm and leg whirred softly, “I’ll be back D, gonna go make us both some tea.” He kissed his husband's cheek and headed off into the kitchen.
Diego waved, smiling softly as he shifted in the bed and adjusted his glasses. Smiling God what he wouldn’t give for more days like this. He should really see about getting guaranteed weekends off. Maybe get Kevin someone who can take over the radio station on weekends. Though, he wasn’t sure how happy the other would be about that idea, given how attached he was.
Those thoughts left his mind as Kevin came back with two mugs, both steaming as he settled back into the bed and handed one of the mugs to Diego. They smiled at each other, and Kevin glanced at the tv.
“What’s Bri-Bree...Brightane.”
“Britain?”
“That’s weird. What kind of state is that?”
Diego couldn’t help but laugh. As smart as Kevin was, names of places, and places in general, really seemed to cause him confusion, “A weird one, apparently.”
Kevin stuck his tongue out, but handed over the mug anyways. Soon, the two were cuddling again, and Diego decided to stop thinking for a while, just to appreciate his day off.
