Cat Yeosang

Summary:

What if Yeosang wakes up one day and he is San's pet cat?

Notes:

Hello! So I have more to add to San's Cat Adventures but this time Yeosang is the cat. I wanted to write a story of Yeosang as the cat and honestly, I think this turned out very cute. I hope you enjoy it!

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Yeosang wakes up and he feels weird. He feels like his body doesn’t belong to him and as he tries to rub his eyes hoping to rub the sleep away, he is greeted by a paw in place of his hand. Yeosang tries to gasp but is only able to let out a hiss.

Yeosang was a cat!

He looks around and realises he isn’t in his room. He is on a comfortable bed but it’s not his bed and it’s not Wooyoung’s bed. So where was he?

Also, why was he a cat?!

He then realises that someone is next to him. Yeosang looks over a little nervously. If Yeosang could gasp, he would but all he can do is look over with wide eyes and jaw slightly ajar.

San is sleeping next to him. He looks so peaceful, hair soft and cheek squished on his pillow. If Yeosang had his hand he would run his fingers through San’s hair and maybe even pinch his cheek or even kiss him. Except he cannot do any of those things but sit there and stare at San. San was so beautiful that it baffled Yeosang.

How could someone so beautiful be real?

San stirs a little as if feeling Yeosang’s gaze on him before his eyes are slowly fluttering open. He looks a little dazed but when his eyes land on Yeosang he smiles. The smallest of smiles but it still made Yeosang’s small heart skip a beat.

“Morning, Dal,” San says, his voice a little deeper than normal probably because of just waking up but he sounded so full of love.

Yeosang could die a happy man…or cat.

San gently pets Yeosang’s head or Dal as San had called him.

Dal meant the moon. When Yeosang sees his reflection later in the mirror he understands why. He is a fluffy white cat with pink ears and nose and the bluest of eyes.

Yeosang cannot help but purr in satisfaction as San starts to scratch his ear. He reaches a particular spot which makes Yeosang stretch out in happiness and San giggles. Yeosang thinks he is in heaven. He doesn’t know why or how he has turned into a cat and San’s pet cat no less but he feels like he is on top of the world. When else would he ever get to be this close to San and appreciate San’s existence?

He was a very lucky cat.

“You hungry, Dal?” San asks and Yeosang meows.

San laughs and says “I will take that as a yes” before he gets out of bed. “Come on,” San says and Yeosang hops off the bed and follows San. Yeosang looks around as he follows San and he hums a song while getting Yeosang’s food. Yeosang remains mesmerised as he watches San, glowing in the sunlight coming in through the window.

San was beautiful and Yeosang always knew this but seeing him like this, so close to him make his little cat heart swell with joy.

Yeosang had developed a crush on San from a distance and he thought that he would get over it as he was never going to gather the courage to get to know him. But now that he had gotten to know San better and they became fast friends, Yeosang was sure he was falling in love with San. San was so sweet and full of joy. He was such a bright person and he had the power to make everyone around him happy.

San is still humming as he places Yeosang’s food on the floor next to a bowl of freshwater. Yeosang looked at the bowl of food and San laughs a little.

“Go on, Dal,” San says with a soft smile and if Yeosang was honest he was a bit wary of the cat food. He wasn’t a cat…well he was a cat currently but he had never eaten cat food. He sniffs it a little bit before taking a bite and surprisingly it was good. It tasted like chicken so Yeosang wasn’t going to complain.

San carries on walking around the kitchen, making his coffee and getting his cereal. He still hums a song and Yeosang takes comfort in San’s company. San smiles at Yeosang as he sits at the table with his coffee and cereal.

“So what should we do today, Dal?” San asks once they both finish their food.

Yeosang jumps on the chair next to San. He is still getting used to being in a cat’s body so he is still a little amazed at what he can do. Yeosang sits down on the chair and simply meows.

Yeosang has a million things to say to San but he is unable to do so, so he settles for just keeping San company. San smiles and pets Yeosang’s head and talks to him gently. San is talking about what he has to do today and Yeosang just listens to his voice, enjoying the sound of his voice. San is so gentle in the way he pets Yeosang and scratches his ears. Yeosang purrs when San reaches a particular spot again and this makes San laugh.

Yeosang’s little cat heart swoons at the sound of San’s laugh.

“Do you want to go out while I go to the gym?” San asks and even though Yeosang would rather stay in San’s flat where he knows he is safe, something tells him he should go out.

Yeosang makes his way to the door and San smiles and picks Yeosang up.

“Stay safe and come back soon, okay,” San says and places a soft kiss on Yeosang’s pink nose.

If Yeosang was still his human self, he would be blushing so he is glad he is a cat right now.

Once Yeosang is out he decided to roam the area. He isn’t sure where he is as he had never been to San’s place. San was always the one walking him (and Wooyoung by extension) home after their night classes so Yeosang, the cat took the opportunity to explore.

He takes a nice stroll around the area and stumbles to a small local florist run by an old lady. She takes a liking to Yeosang, the cat, and gives him some cat treats. Yeosang happily accepts. Then he wanders around some more and finds more people giving him attention and calling him cute. Never in his life had he been complimented by so many people.

It was usually just San.

Yeosang thinks to San calling him smart and asking him to teach San his ways. San also liked to tell him he was pretty frequently. San really was one of the nicest people Yeosang knew.

Lost in his thoughts, he wanders into a dark alleyway. Just as Yeosang decided to walk back he hears a growl. All the hair on Yeosang stands up in fear. He could tell that there was something bigger and stronger than him lurking in the shadows. Yeosang slowly takes a few steps back, keeping his eyes on the shadow. The last thing he wants to have is something attack him. He hears the angry growl again and everything in him tells him to run.

Just when he decided to run, a familiar black figure jumps in front of him and hisses at the shadows.

It was the kitty he had taken in.

The cat glares at the shadows and continues to hiss. Yeosang can see something in the shadow back off and he feels relief wash over. The cat then turns to Yeosang before coming near him. Yeosang is still frozen as the cat circles him before he nuzzles his side. Yeosang feels so much joy to see his kitty and his kitty had saved him from danger.

Yeosang meows hoping the kitty will understand and it seems like the cat smiles at him before nuzzling him once more. Then the cat leaves.

Yeosang decided he should probably head back to San’s flat. He had enough adventures to last him a lifetime. He also makes a mental note to name his kitty despite Wooyoung’s protest saying he would get attached to the cat if he named him.

Screw Wooyoung and his cat-hating self.

When Yeosang makes it back safely, San is just getting back from the gym. San greets him happily and lets him inside. San tops off his water bowl before he goes to shower. Yeosang takes a much-needed drink before he jumps up on the sofa and stretches. The sunlight is hitting the sofa perfectly for Yeosang to lay in. For a brief second, he wonders if this is how his kitty felt, laying in the sun all satisfied and comfortable.

San comes back from the shower, dressed in a baggy t-shirt and comfy-looking trousers, hair still wet and a towel around his shoulders. He smiles when he sees Yeosang.

“You like sunbathing, don’t you Dal,” San says as he sits next to Yeosang and Yeosang meows in response.

“Sometimes I feel like you understand me and respond to me,” San says as he towels his hair. “I probably sound crazy talking to you and having a one-sided conversation but I don’t care. I love talking to you, Dal!” San adds cheerfully and Yeosang thinks his small cat heart might just explode.

San pets Yeosang and Yeosang leans in his touch. San then turns on the TV as he carries on petting Yeosang. Yeosang just enjoys San’s gentle touch before he slowly rolls over on his back.

“Want some belly rubs?” San asks with a bright smile and if Yeosang could he would nod. The belly rubs practically melts Yeosang and San laugh again at his reaction.

Before Yeosang knows it, San is playing with him. A cat toy in his hand, San teases Yeosang. Yeosang knows he is or was a human and he knows it’s just a simple, silly game but something in him wants to catch the feather hanging off the stick, It must be his cat side.

San is laughing loudly as Yeosang jumps around the sofa. At first, Yeosang really wanted the damn feather but now he just wanted to hear San’s laughter. The loud, uncaring, and unguarded laughter. The high pitch, the squeaky kind which gave Yeosang so much joy. Yeosang was willing to run around like a crazy cat for hours if it meant San would laugh like this.

Eventually, San says he has some uni work to do so Yeosang just follows him back to his room and makes himself comfortable on San’s bed. He was tired after his adventured and so far he is finding out being a cat was fun. San puts on some music that he sings along to once in a while as he works on his essay. The soft clicking of the keyboard and San’s singing lulls Yeosang, the cat to sleep.

When Yeosang, the cat wakes up, San has his head in his hands and he groans.

Yeosang gets worried and jumps off the bed and onto San’s lap. He nudges San’s elbow and he looks down at Yeosang. San looks tired, his hair is a mess probably from him running his hand through his hair in frustration.

“What am I doing with my life, Dal?”

Ah, the classic case of uni student existential crisis. Yeosang had these all the time himself so he knows that nothing he says will make San feel better. Not that he can say anything, instead Yeosang meows softly and nuzzles against San’s stomach. It makes San laugh softly before he starts to pet Yeosang again.

“Thank you, Dal,” San says with a soft smile. “All the uni deadlines are killing me slowly,” San adds as he carries on petting Yeosang.

Yeosang meows.

You can do it, slowly but surely.

San laughs as if he understood what Yeosang was trying to say to him and says, “Thank you, I should get on with this essay though,” San then looks back up to his laptop and gets ready to get back to work. Yeosang stares at San for a bit before making a decision. He jumps on the table and sits his furry little butt right on the keyboard of San’s laptop.

“Dal!”

Yeosang looks up at San and tries his best to give him puppy dog eyes. He pictures Puss in Boots from Shrek and does his best to imitate the animated cat.

San glares at Yeosang and Yeosang almost backs down but San sighs.

“I can’t stay mad at you, Dal-ah. Maybe it’s time to rest,” San says with a small smile, and Yeosang meows in happiness.

San picks up Yeosang gently and then gets into bed. He is smiling at Yeosang andYeosang’s little cat heart skips a beat. San really was dangerous for his heart.

San gently places Yeosang on his pillow before laying down next to Yeosang. Yeosang meows in approvable and rubs his soft pink nose against San’s, which makes him laugh.

“You’re a sweetie, Dal…thank you for cheering me up,” San says and in return Yeosang licks his nose making San laugh again.

“I’m glad you are here with me,” San says and cuddles Yeosang.

Yeosang melts into his embrace before falling asleep in San’s arms.

________

Yeosang wakes up in his own bed and in his own human body. He looks around his room and then at his hands as he curls and uncurls them.

Ah, a dream, Yeosang realises as he sighs. It was a good dream and he was happy it included San. Even though it was dream San, he was happy to spend time with him and to see new sides of him. He hopes that he will get to know real San that well soon.

He then looks to his side to see his kitty sleeping soundly. Yeosang smiles.

Hae.

Sun.

Yeosang gently pets the cat’s head. this cat had bought light into Yeosang’s life so he deserves to be named after the sun, Hae.

The cat slowly stirs and Yeosang’s smiles widen as he watches the cat wake up.

No, after all the time he had spent getting to know this cat and loving his cat, kitty seems like a fitting name. Yeosang had gotten used to calling him kitty now anyway but he would always think of the cat as the sun.

“Hungry, Kitty?” Yeosang asks and the cat meows.

Yeosang is filled with joy.

________

“You seem happy today,” San says to Yeosang as they walk to their lecture.

“That’s probably because I am happy today,” Yeosang says with a wide smile.

He had not been able to stop smiling since he woke up. He was singing and humming around the flat and Wooyoung had given him weird looks. When Yeosang told Wooyoung about his dream, of course, he had laughed at Yeosang’s face before he proceeded to tease him.

“You should just ask him out,” is what Wooyoung had said and Yeosang had thrown a piece of bread at him.

“Who’s got you smiling that brightly?” San asks with a frown on his face.

“Why does it have to be a who?” Yeosang answers San with his own question.

“I just had a feeling,” San mumbles as he looks down at the floor.

Yeosang’s heart drops at seeing sad San. If Wooyoung was here he would roll his eyes and tell Yeosang to just confess but he mentally punches Wooyoung in the face. Then his body moves before his brain can as he reaches for San’s hand.

San looks up at him in surprise.

“I just had a really good dream, San-ah,” Yeosang says happily as he swings their hands together as they walk together.

Woooyoung had obviously disappeared to greet his other best friends leaving the two alone. Not before he winked at Yeosang but San doesn’t need to know that.

“What was the dream?” San asks, a small pout still visible on his lips, and Yeosang laughs.

“A secret,” Yeosang says, and as expected San’s pout gets bigger.

“Come on San-ah, we’re gonna be late,” Yeosang says as he tugs at San’s hand.

San is still pouting but he squeezes Yeosang’s hand, making Yeosang's heart skip a beat.

“Maybe I’ll tell you someday,” Yeosang says with a small smile and San’s face instantly brightens.

And maybe Yeosang will tell San something more soon.

Notes:

So I think this would happen just before Yeosang asks San out on a "date" and we all know what happened after that conversation. I think I will write one more story about San's Cat Adventures before I finish this series. I've got an idea of what San's next adventure will be so I hope you look forward to it.

Please leave a comment if you like and I shall see you in the next one! Bye!
