Absconded.

Summary:

Yasmine, Ace and baby Teddy have a portkey misshap that lands them sideways in a parallel dimension in front of a small boy Harry potter.

Tw:mild swearing.

Notes:

A small one-shot of Yasmine stumbling over the canon version of herself and how that meeting would go.

Work Text:

Yasmine hit the floor in a tangle of limbs and a bright light. She could tell something had gone wrong with their portkey - she felt too drained for it to be anything else. Head spinning, she pushed herself upright with a pained groan.

"Teddy!" She yelped, panicked.

"I've got him, Yaz. Don't worry." A deep voice replied. She sighed in relief. "Kid is still sleeping." He added, voice a touch baffled. Yasmine laughed slightly, rubbing the black spots from her eyes before an unknown voice made them both still in caution.

"Um sorry but... who are you people?" A young, sweet voice asked. Yasmine spun around and gasped at the young 12 year old boy standing pressed against the corner of the room.

"Omg, Ace, are you seeing this?" Yasmine asked, her voice squeaky.

"Yeah." He replied nonplussed, from behind her. Shaking her head she stepped forward slowly with her hand outstretched.

"Hey kid, my names Yasmine Potter." She said steadily, watching his face closely. She watched as identical green eyes widened minutely as he searched her face for similarities. 'He'll find them' she thought a touch hysterically. They both had aristocratic high cheekbones, wild ebony Potter hair, although the sheer weight and length of Yasmine's made her look tamer but they also had their mum lily's vibrant emerald green eyes. They had similarly straight aquiline noses, but Yasmines was a touch more button-like.

Their mouths were even similar although while both mouths were full, Yasmine's was a bit wider and more expressive. Yasmines face was softer too. Her chin was slightly pointed giving her a heart shaped face. Whereas Harry's definitely had the beginnings of their dad's chiseled jawline. If Yasmine wasn't a decade older they could be twins, as it was they looked like siblings.

"Are we related?" Harry asked softly, something indescribable in his voice.

"Kind of." Yasmine said awkwardly, making Harry's face scrunch in confusion and Ace facepalm in the background.

"This is painful." He muttered. "I'm Ace and this is Teddy" he said waving his hand at the small toddler that was currently strapped to his chest. I'm Yasmine's fiance." He said with a grin. Harry gave an awkward wave.

"Um, nice to meet you." He mumbled in confusion. "Not to be rude but why are you here? How did you get here." He asked quickly.

"That is a good question. Very good question." Yasmine said, clicking her fingers in his direction. "Ace?" She asked pleadingly. Ace sighed and rolled his eyes.

"Fine." He told her exasperatedly. "Mind if we sit?" He asked Harry, gesturing to the rickety office chair "No, go ahead" he replied hurriedly.

"Ta." He said in relief, spinning the chair around to face the two Potters. Following Ace's example Yasmine plopped down on the floor back resting against the bed. Harry and a slower more cautious pace sat on the floor opposite.

"Ok so the first thing you need to know is we're from a parallel dimension." He said bluntly, making Yasmine snort. Harry's eyes went huge. "If my guess is right anyway. I think that Yasmine is probably the 'you', of her world." He finished. Yasmine huffed a laugh at both Ace's delivery and Harry's gaping expression. Leaning forward she tapped a shiny black nail gently against his open chin.

"Careful, you don't want to catch flies." She told him playfully. Harry's cheeks dusted pink and he snapped his jaw shut. "Best way to check is I'll ask you a bunch of things that happened to me and well see if your answers match up." She suggested. Harry nodded cautiously in agreement.

"First of all, how old are you?" Yasmine asked.

"Um, I just turned 12 today." Harry replied.

"Oh, happy birthday kid!" Yasmine said cheerfully, causing Harry to give her a shy grin that made her want to squish his cheeks. "Hmm, OK first question: is your birthday June the 31st?"

"Yes." Harry replied.

"Oh snap! Ace baby I'm 22! You owe me a present." She laughed. Ace rolled his eyes at her playfully and leant forward to ruffle her hair.

"Sure pint size. Let's sort this out first though yeah?" He said easily. Nodding her head she turned back to Harry. The poor kid still looked overwhelmed. "Sorry about that."

"That's fine." He said quickly looking a bit startled at her apology.

"Ok second question." We have lived at the Dursleys since our parents died when we were 15 months old." Harry nodded his head glumly and Yasmine gave him a grim smile. "Ok second question: Dudley is a big bully and looks like a pig in a blond wig." Harry laughed delightedly and nodded his head. "Ok, we lived in the boot cupboard under the stairs until they moved us into Dudley's second bedroom last year." She continued. Face twisting at Harry nod. Behind her she could hear Ace grinding his teeth.

"Ok, last question I think." Yasmine said with a sigh. "Last year was your first year of Hogwarts. We got into Gryffindor but the Hat wanted to put us in Slytherin. We made friends with Ron on the train and saved Hermione from a troll and became best friends with her too. At the end of the year we saved Nicolas Flamel's Philosopher's Stone from Professor Quirrell. He was possessed by Voldemort and had Voldemort's face sticking out of the back of head." She finished. Harry was gaping at her again which made her giggle and he snapped his mouth shut with an embarrassed huff.

"Yeah all that happened." He admitted. "This is really weird." He added in a creeped out voice.

Yasmine laughed loudly. "Tell me about it. Dude, how ugly was Voldemort's face? I thought I was going to puke when Quirrell took his turban off." Harry nodded and giggled in agreement.

"Yeah I had to stop myself from asking him to put it back on." He admitted shyly. Yasmine and Ace both laughed cheerfully at that. "Imagine his face if you did." She wheezed infectiously and Harry joined in. After a moment Yasmine looked at Ace and seemed to have a conversation that consisted entirely of eyebrow wiggles and lip quirks. It ended finally when Ace nodded his head at Yasmine in agreement to something.

"Ok so we have no rush to be anywhere." Yasmine admitted. "we're here due to a mishap with a faulty portkey and a scrying mirror; an easy enough fix but we were thinking of travelling anyway so this can be an unexpected side trip."

"Will you be able to go back?" He asked worriedly.

"Oh yeah, it's an easy fix. I wasn't even in my home dimension anyway." She admitted cheerfully, surprising Harry. "Why to you think we're dressed so weird." She added waving her hand at her and Ace's steampunk style outfits.

"Oh I didn't want to assume." He said sheepishly. "I've seen people in London dressed similarly," he admitted. Yasmine huffed a laugh.

"Good point." She admitted. "I met Ace in a pirate dimension." She told Harry conspiratorially. Harry's eyes went as wide as saucers.

"Whoah, really?!" He cried. "That's so cool!" Yasmine nodded her head excitedly. And then spun to look at an amused Ace. "See I told you Ace!" Ace laughed and lifted his hands in defeat

"It's super cool." She said directly to Harry. "Hermione - my Hermione that is - would huff really exasperatedly when I got overly enthusiastic about it. Ron wasn't much better."  She told Harry. "Ace is a pirate." Harry turned big green eyes on Ace who laughed fondly and ruffled his hair too. Kid reminded him of his kid brother Luffy.

"I'm not much of a pirate right now." He said easily. Yasmine just made a 'pssh' noise at him and flapped her hand in disagreement.

"Maybe we can take you one day after you've finished your schooling." She said thoughtfully.  Harry's eyes glistened slightly with cautious hope. "What do you say kid? Want to stay with us since we'll be hanging about here for a while?" She asked Harry.

"Yes!" Harry said immediately - a bit too fast. He cleared his throat. "I mean, yes please." Yasmine laughed, her eyes were a touch sadder than before.

"Awesome! Let's grab your things and then head to Gringotts." She said easily. Harry hurried to comply before he stopped awkwardly. "Oh I forgot Aunt Petunia and Uncle Vernon locked me in." He said embarrassedly, his eyes flitting to the door with a ridiculous amount of locks on it and a cat flap. Ace hissed through his teeth like an angry cat.

"Ugh, I forgot they did this." Yasmine admitted. She waved her hands and unlocked the doors with a bit of wandless magic making Harry gasp in surprise. "Grab Hedwig kid." She called over her shoulder. Harry ran back into the room, grabbed his owl, and followed her out of the room.

"Um, who are we going to say you are?" Harry asked. Yasmine clicked her tongue thoughtfully. "A cousin maybe?" She said as she stepped outside the boot cupboard and wandlessly opened the door for Harry to grab his things. "Better cover up these peekers for now" She said to herself, sliding a pair of wayfarer sunglasses onto her nose, covering up her distinctive green eyes. The noise of them talking and clattering around the house brought Petunia down the stairs in a truly ugly floral print dress and pinafore apron.

"Who are you?! And what are you doing in my house?!" She shrieked at Yasmine and Ace, waking up Teddy who wailed in surprise, his hair flashing bright red. This made Petunia shriek again, louder, and Yasmine sighed explosively, rubbing her temple as she looked at Harry in commiseration.

"Dude, my condolences. I forgot how much of a raging asshole she is." She admitted making Harry snort in amused horror and Petunia gasp in affront.

"Petunia quiet down. What would the neighbours think." Yasmine asked faux concernedly. Petunia gasped again quieter and looked out the window. Yasmine, Ace and the two boys made their escape and shut the door behind them. "Phew." Yasmine sighed. Harry started cracking up delightedly.

"Her face!" He cackled. Laughing with him Yasmine swung her arm around his shoulders and pulled him to her side. Taping her wand to Hedwig's cage she gestured for Harry to let her out. His luggage and owl crate was then magically shrunk and put away into his pockets.

"Come on boys." She said happily. Grabbing Ace around his waist. "Let's get the knight bus."
