Chapter Text
Their mornings were always full. After waking up, they would normally dance around each other to get ready for work, and collided from time to time to share kisses and have hushed talks about important and unimportant matters.
Louis always had to go very early in the morning to train in the gym and Harry just liked to start early on his schedule, and it worked for them.
On this day, though, Harry was traveling.
It had actually been a few days since he had to get an emergency flight to Italy to overlook a collection that was coming out. Some problems rose to the surface at the last minute, so Harry was there, saving the day.
Harry would've gone to Italy by the end of the week, but now, with the change of schedule, Louis wouldn't have him for the whole week instead of just two days.
Of course they weren’t together the entire time of a week, Harry was always going over to London to his main office and Louis had to keep travelling for games, but they never lasted a whole week.
Louis was going on with his morning, but he was missing Harry. It was the fourth morning he woke up alone in their bed, and he was getting cranky.
He almost snapped at one of his teammates yesterday, and now he was feeling bad to even have had the thought passing through his mind.
He finished his coffee before leaving the dishes on the dishwasher and turned the machine on, huffing for not being able to even have a goodbye kiss before he went to the gym.
By the end of his gym exercises, he was huffing again. He wasn't going to receive a massage when he arrived home tired, and he felt even more cranky.
Louis ended up really snapping when a few of his teammates wouldn't follow what he said in his best efforts to help, so he was feeling even worse now. He shouldn't snap at people because his husband wasn't in the city, it was a bad thing to do.
Harry was always talking about treating people with kindness, so Louis was feeling bad for not following what his husband was always saying.
Well, his own thing was more of a fuck you, with kindness shit, but yeah.
By the end of the training, it was nearly seven in the night. Louis took a shower, one just enough to clean the sweat off.
He sat in one of the benches of the changing room after he put on a pair of sweatpants, and grabbed his phone from his bag.
There was a single photo from Harry in his messages, just like the way they liked to communicate with each other when there wasn’t much to say. He was sitting on a patch of grass, a river of sunflowers right behind him and a blue bandana around his neck. He had that little smile of his, one that made Louis always mushy, just like he was now.
The other players entered one by one in the room after leaving the shower. Louis had a small smile on his face, just looking over and over the photo on his phone.
He got out of his daze when the others became a little more louder, tapping off from the photo and opening the camera of his phone, taking a picture and sending it directly to Harry.
“Now it's all smiles, Tomlinson?” Some player said, calling up attention to the two of them. “I remember you raging over us not even an hour ago.”
Louis could hear the playing tone he was using and see the sly smile he had on his face. But his mind was still on the fact that he had screamed at them earlier, something he shouldn't have done.
“He's seeing someone, you can tell by the smile,” some other players said, making some laugh and others snicker.
Louis just shook his head, turning to his phone for a moment before he froze as he heard the next comment someone made.
“I was ready to present someone to him, but I think he already has someone, uh?”
He lifted his head, confusion plastered in his face. He put his phone face down beside him on the bench, moving his eyes to the other players.
“I’m married, did you forget that?” He said, and now was the turn of the other players to freeze.
Everyone was looking at him a little bewildered, and he was confused.
“You’re married,” someone stated, but the guy didn’t seem to be very sure of what he was saying.
“Yeah, almost seven years,” Louis replied, and then all hell broke loose.
Everyone was talking loudly, trying to comprehend what Louis was saying. By that time, Liam finally arrived by the place, most heads turning to him and asking if he knew Louis was married.
Liam, who had been at Louis and Harry’s wedding, just confirmed that yes, yes, he knew Louis was married, and he thought Louis had told people about that a long time ago.
“You didn’t forget to tell people you’re married, did you, Louis?” Liam asked, holding his laugh while still looking at a confused Louis.
“I thought they already knew,” Louis said, lowering his head a little.
“It was before you came to the ManU, Lou,” Liam said, sitting beside the other. “And I’m not sure anybody else in here knew besides me.”
“Uh,” was the only answer Louis had to that.
[...]
It wasn’t the best day for Harry.
It was a very good day for Louis, considering it was his day off.
Harry woke up late after he forgot to turn on his alarm after he turned it off two days ago. Yesterday was his day off, and as sad as he was that it wasn’t on the same day as Louis’, Harry had done a lot of work since Louis wasn’t at their place.
He took a fast shower and ran out of the apartment, still putting his scarf around his neck while he was closing the building door.
In the middle of all that mess, he was certain he had forgotten something, besides the good day kiss he would normally get from Louis.
The other man was traveling back to Manchester after the game he played yesterday, the game Harry only watched on the television while he did a few sketches to fill in his idea book. Louis would be arriving in an hour or two, an hour or two that Harry didn’t have earlier.
He was thinking about the million excuses he could use when he arrived by the office, about how he actually worked yesterday and all, and seemed to remember he didn’t actually need to be this early in the office like he always did.
It was always convenient since the bed was going to get cold without Louis in it, and he hated that.
As he entered the building, the front desk security guard from the day shift was finishing to settle himself, a little surprised for Harry to be arriving after him and not before.
Harry greeted everyone that was already on the floor, but went straight to his office.
His mood was shit, and the idea that he had forgotten something was giving him a headache.
Three hours later, Harry finally received a message from Louis, saying he had arrived home after the small reunion he had with the team after they arrived in the city.
And Harry discovered what he had forgotten after Louis sent him a picture of his med box with a question mark.
He had forgotten to take his meds.
In the middle of his entire lateness, he had forgotten to take his meds, and his mood was shit now because of it.
Louis' next picture was just a gloved hand resting on the tank of a motorcycle, and Harry took a deep breath after realizing what Louis was doing.
It took around half an hour for another message to arrive, Harry clutching his phone the entire time while he overlooked a few other ideas some other employees brought to him. It was just written ‘downstairs’, and Harry walked as fast as he could, ignoring the few looks he got.
By the sidewalk, on the curb, was a shining black motorcycle, one that Harry knew very well from looking at it every time he took the car to come to work. Louis had a helmet and glasses on, the glasses coming off when Harry got nearer to him.
Louis took off one of the straps of his backpack, opened the central zipper and pulled out Harry’s little emergency box, probably containing his meds inside by the little noise it made.
“Thank you,” Harry said, clutching the box on his chest.
“No need, darling,” Louis answered, looking at the vehicles passing before taking his helmet off. “Kiss?”
Harry laughed, getting more near to Louis and hunching down, leaving a peck on Louis’ lips. Before he could get away again, Louis put his hand gently in the back of Harry’s head and pulled him in for a proper kiss.
As they separated, both had smiles on their faces.
“See you later,” Louis said, putting on his helmet again and turning on the motorcycle.
“See you,” Harry answered before Louis sped off.
Harry went back to the building, feeling a little bit too many eyes on him.
When he arrived back on his office’s floor, the people there were trying to not look in his direction, but they were doing a very bad job at it, seeing they were glancing in two to two seconds in his direction.
Harry stopped by his office door, turning around to the other employees there. They were looking at him, and did try to pretend they weren’t when they realized they were caught red-handed.
“I left for a minute, what happened?” Harry asked, leaning against the frame of his door.
A few employees looked at each other, not seeming sure what to say.
“We didn’t know you were seeing someone,” one of them said, and Harry’s eyebrows furrowed.
“Seeing someone?” Harry questioned, not fully comprehending.
“Yeah, the guy in the motorcycle,” someone else said, and Harry got even more lost.
“That’s my husband,” he stated, a silence washed over everyone.
They were all looking at each other, now being the ones confused.
“Since when you’re married?” Harry’s secretary asked, her head falling a little sideways.
“Almost seven years this year,” he said, and it was like unleashing pandemonium.
Everyone was trying to talk over each other, wild eyes everywhere. Had he not told them he was married already? It seemed like something he had already done.
In the middle of the confusion, he just slipped into his office so he could take his meds in peace.
