“Ess please”
“Nope”
“Please?”
“Not happening”
Madeleine huffed, he’s been pleading his lover for half an hour now, throwing away his pride, (not that he really had any when he’s with the mage anyways.)
The knight had two hair ribbons in his hand, the color of a royal blue, the other of a slight maroon-coral color, matching Espressos tie.
He’d got them custom made at a candy cotton store nearby with the finest sugar silk.It cost him a pretty coin for only two.
After seeing the pretty clothing and bows the store displayed he couldn’t help but place an order for two, silky soft ribbons,the colors of his own blue and the other the color of one of his lovers favorite color, a darkish pink with a maroon tint.
The knight wanted match with him,seeing how many of the younger children have matching bracelets as a sign of friendship or love,he thought it was pretty cute;Both him and the mage had relatively long hair, though of course, his was way longer, going down past his waist, Espresso on the other hand had hair reaching only a bit past his shoulders, usually styled upwards in two spikey sections to match his cloak or tied in a low ponytail for experiments.
“Please Ess! I want to match with you!”he begged
“And why is that.”
“I saw custard and Pancake with matching paper bracelets and thought it would be cute.. please! I’ll buy you anything!”
“I don’t need martial items..”the mage sighs “but.. if you insist in such childish acts, maybe I can indulge you just this once.”
In all honestly, Espresso thought it was kind of cute that his overconfident boyfriend was pleading to match ribbons with him after he saw kids play around in the playground, they have yet to announce their relationship to their friends, so it may be a good time to subtly hint their relationship.
Espresso picks up the blue one, much to Madeleines surprise.
“I didn’t know you liked blue”
Espresso just looked up at him with a shrug.”it would be nice to have a pop of color in my outfit after all the pink and dark brown, plus, then we would officially match wouldn’t we?”
Madeleine stared at him dumbfounded, before smiling like a dork in love. Espresso glared at him and sighed, returning to his normal neutral expression.
“Here, tie it for me”

“Oh Madeleine! You’re wearing your hair differently today!”
Sparkling noticed while mixing a drink.Herb looked over with a gasp.
“Goodness me! You are! It suits you but it’s quite a drastic color difference.
Madeleine smiled softly; after combing through and securing his beloveds ribbon Expresso had insisted he did the same, and he did an excellent job if he could say so himself.
A low, long ponytail.simple. but fitting, and plus, it hadn’t gotten tangled all day.
“Ah, it is, doesn’t fit much yaknow, should of went with blue.” Vampire said while chugging down another glass.
Sparkling hummed “why did you choose that color anyways, I didn’t expect you to be a fan of such a uni-“
“Hello?”
The door of the bar opened, a familiar dark haired mage walked in, adjusting his glasses.
“ Espresso! Welcome!”
Espresso nods “Vampire, Herb, Sparkling, goodmorning”
Madeleine laughed as the three groaned, expecting another fight between the two.
“I’m here too Espresso”he smiled
The mage scoffed “quite hard to not notice your excessive shine knight commander.”
Even though he complained he sat himself next to the knight, politely placing his hands
on his lap. Madeleine looked over to see that his lover had indeed kept his hair tied up, displaying the blue ribbon proudly.
“What can I get for ya today?”
“Melon juice would be ok for today, no alcohol please”
“Coming right up!”
As sparkling went to the back to grab another cup, Herb looked over.
“ Espresso? Are you wearing your hair differently too?” He questioned
“Mm? I am, I had to get it out of the way for an experiment and didn’t feel like fluffing it back up again,what’s wrong?” Expresso responded plainly
Herb gasps in realization.
“You- you two are matching”
Sparkling stopped in his tracks to stare at the duo, Madeleine smiling sheepishly while Espresso just blankly stared at them with a neutral expression.
“My, you are, what happened between you two?”
Madeleine stood up proudly as Espresso sighed in exasperation, thank god no one comes to the bar at 10am but the four of them and sparkling.
“I!” He started proudly “bravely came up to him one fine morning and swept him off his feet, then I asked him on a da-“
“He climbed my wall and gave me a heart attack while he confessed through my window, then proceeded to fall into the bushes of my lawn.”The mage took a sip of his melon juice, it was a nice refresher after hot coffee,
“W-“
“He then scrambled on his feet to pose and ran off in the wrong direction of his house.”
“ Espresso this was suppose to be between me and you” Madeleine whispered as Vampire cookie wheezed in the back.
Espresso shrugged. “I still said yes so who’s the real idiot here.”
“ Madeleine cookie. Don’t tell me you actually climbed the wall instead of.. I don’t know, normally KNOCKING?” Herb scolded, placing the plant pot he carried everywhere onto the table and turning it to “face” him. “Hear this shit Ivy? Don’t be like him”
Ok, so Herb was defiantly insane. Madeleine looked over the Sparkling who was struggling to contain his laughter. Madeleine sighs.
“You can laugh”
Now Madeleine was sitting in an empty room with three of his friends laughing at him for his poor choices, he glanced over at Espresso, expecting the mage to have an unreadable or exasperated expression, though what he didn’t expect was a warm smile and a fond look on the mages face.
Ok. Maybe this wasn’t too bad.
