Not Perfect But It's Ours

Summary:

The origins of how Shouta Aizawa and Hizashi Yamada adopted all their children.

Notes:

This might be an ongoing series like my Naruto one. ADHD equals hyperfixations which equals plot bunnies I don't get to control.

Chapter Text

(This Isn’t A Cat, Shouta)

Shouta came back to the dorms late. It wasn't that usual considering the man's insomniac tendencies. Hizashi was on the couch ready for bed, just waiting for his husband. At the sound of the door opening, the Voice Hero stopped reading to greet his partner.

"Shouta." He leveled a gaze at the man, "First cats, now humans?"

The dark-haired man merely shrugged and pushed the purple-haired boy deeper into the apartment. Hizashi followed, floundering as his life changed yet again. The blond finally got Shouta's attention.

"What is going on?" he signed.

The underground hero's hands up to respond, but the boy surprised both of them by shakily signing.

"You talk like… " pale fingers shock in hesitation before continuing, "this?"

Hizashi answered back out of reflex, "Yeah, little listener. What's up?"

The boy shook his head and slowly signed, "It's too late for this shit."

"Language," Shouta said as Hizashi signed it.

A small uptick appeared at the boy's lips and the adults left him to get ready for bed.

(Problem Twins from Class 1-A)

In hindsight, Hizashi shouldn't have been surprised to see his husband gently leading a shell-shocked Bakugo and a nearly-asleep Todoroki into their apartment after Kamino. The battle had been hard on everyone, even excluding All-Might.

Hizashi met them by the door, intending to take one of the boys. Even in their current states, they let their displeasure known. Todoroki gripped Shouta's hand tighter, and Bakugo's hand not holding anything sparked while a growl came low from his throat. Worry and fear had him looking at his husband for answers.

"They've been like this since discharge," the man explained.

"Okay. Why are they here?"

"The only parents who didn't show up to get them."

"That doesn't explain-" the blond gestured at the boys, "this."

Shouta sighed, "Their doctors warned me of a possible delayed reaction. Once we got onto campus, this happened."

If Hizashi didn't dready feel for the boys, he would have been crying. He gathered all available blankets, pillows and futons and put them in the living room. He then checked on Hitoshi before going back. He wanted to laugh at the sight as he returned.

Shouta sat on the couch, still holding the two boys. On his face was the most puzzled look Hizashi had ever seen.

"Zashi, what is this?"

The blond started arranging the futons, "You and the boys will sleep out here tonight."

The man looked ready to protest, but a whimper from Shouto had him nodding in agreement.

(The Fourth and Last Child)

Eni and Hizashi hit it off the moment Shouta brought her to their on-campus dorm. The Erasure hero had worried that the other man would be too excited to control his quirk, but he took one look at the young girl and immediately dropped to his knees. Shouta watched as Eri willingly let go of his hand to hold out to the blond. From experience, Shouta could see the tension from excitement gripping his partner's shoulder. He would be listening to the gushing for hours, probably getting no sleep. It was a worthy sacrifice to see the little girl come out of her shell.

Once all three were down for the night, Shruta won the bet against himself.

"Sho! She is adorable!" the voice hero gushed.

Hizashi squealed a bit longer before sobering, "I see a lot of you in her."

Shouta wasn't going to ask for elaboration and Hizashi knew not to give it. The blond merely pulled his husband closer and they soon drifted off, feeling safe with each other.

(We Don't Kidnap Heroes, Hizashi)

Maybe there should have been a written rule stating "No bringing home of children above the age of 18". But surprisingly, it wasn't Shouta who grabbed another child. Hizashi entered, an arm wrapped around a trembling and wingless Hawks, speaking softly to the young hero. Hizashi hoped Shouta and the kids weren't home. He had a feeling the young man didn't want an audience as he struggled.

The young man looked at Hizashi, letting out a low whine in panic. The older man rubbed his shoulder, hoping to soothe frayed nerves.

"Hey, hey. It's alright," he hushed, applying gentle pressure to encourage the young hero to step inside.

Near silent footsteps destroyed Hizashi's prayers for an empty house. Hidden around the corner was Shouta. When he caught his husband's gaze, an eyebrow rose in questioning. The blond gave a sheepish smile in return. Shouta nodded in understanding as spirited away. Hizashi had a general idea of what was being collected, so he continued his task of getting Hawks on the couch.

Once the two were situated, Shouta entered. Hawks flinched and Aizawa stopped, letting the man decide to trust him. It Felt like hours, but the young man eventually relaxed. Shouta covered Hawks' lap with one of their lighter weighted blankets. The injured man's hands flew to the soft material, making soft noises of content.

Hizashi looked at his husband who signed, "Talk later?"

The Voice hero nodded and the dark-haired man stood and left the room in response, leaving Hizashi alone with the young man.
