Work Text:
Halloween is coming up and the members decided to do a small costume party at the dorm, with just the members. Jungwon is nervous, not because he doesn’t have a costume ready (he does, despite what Sunghoon says) but because Ni-ki won’t tell him what he’s dressing up as and Sunoo keeps wiggling his eye brows at him.
Ni-ki and Sunoo are always sneaking around in their dorm and giggling together about their costumes and it’s driving him insane.
He doesn’t even know where they’re hiding their costumes, considering he’s checked every nook and cranny for it.
“You’re gonna love it,” Sunoo keeps saying every time Jungwon asks what it is.
“Hyung,” Jungwon deadpans, “that doesn’t help!”
Sunoo rolls his eyes, “well I can’t tell you! It’ll ruin the surprise.”
Jungwon doesn’t understand why a halloween costume needs to be a surprise but whatever. Maybe if he keeps bother Ni-ki, he’ll find out. He goes to their shared room to see his boyfriend lying in bed.
“Baby.” He pouts, climbing on top of Ni-ki and hugging him. Jungwon presses his ear onto Ni-ki’s chest and listens to his steady heart beat.
Ni-ki doesn’t even spare him a glance, too busy watching Seventeen’s newest music video.
“Hey! I’m talking to you.”
“You’re just gonna ask me what my costume is again.”
Jungwon is so close to throwing a fit. “Why won’t you tell me?” He whines.
Ni-ki puts his phone down and pets Jungwon’s head. “Well what’s your costume, hyung?”
He lifts his head to rest his chin on Ni-ki’s chest instead. “I’m going to be Tanjiro!”
“Oooh, Demon Slayer.” Ni-ki nods, impressed.
Jungwon looks at him expectantly, raising an eyebrow for emphasis.
“What?” Ni-ki giggles.
“I told you what I’m going to be! Very easily, by the way. Now it’s your turn to share!”
“Sunoo hyung is totally gonna kill me if I tell you.”
Jungwon flops to the side, groaning. “Ugh, you two are so annoying.”
Ni-ki pats Jungwon’s head, slightly patronizing (in his humble opinion). “Don’t worry hyung! I think you’ll enjoy my costume.”
“Enjoy? What do you mean enjoy?” He asks, shocked.
Ni-ki grins. “Hyung, Halloween is in like two days. You’ll find out soon enough.”
Jungwon decides right then and there that he’s going to try his best to find out before then, because what the hell does Ni-ki mean he’s going to enjoy it.
—
He’s coming out of the bathroom, refreshed from another day of grueling schedules when he hears Ni-ki and Jake talk in the living room.
Jungwon pauses and listens as Jake tells Ni-ki he’s going to be a tiger called Hobbes from some American comic for halloween.
Ni-ki laughs and Jungwon has to squint and strain his ears because his boyfriend decided to whisper.
Jake bursts out in laughter. “You mean from the Suite Life of Zack & Cody?”
Jungwon doesn’t know what that even means. Sweet life? Who’s Zack and Cody?
He doesn’t even know how to spell all of that to look up on Naver. Or maybe Google would be more helpful.
Or, he could as Jay.
Jungwon spins around and heads straight into the kitchen, where Jay is cooking a late night dinner.
“Hyung!” He hisses, standing right next to Jay. The older looks over, makes a face.
He scoots over a little. “Jungwon I need some personal space.”
“Whatever. Who’s Zack and Cody?” Jungwon asks.
Jay flips some spam over. “Huh?” He replies, confused. “I don’t know who those people are.”
He pauses, and looks over at Jungwon again. “Am I supposed to know who they are?”
“Yes! You’re from America, so you should.” Jungwon insists.
The older turns the stove off. “Okay. Start from the beginning because you’re not making sense. I’m sure there are thousands of Zacks and Codys in America. How am I to know who they are?”
“Ok well you see,” Jungwon starts, taking a deep dramatic breath. “Ni-ki won’t tell me what his costume is but he told Jake hyung except I could hear it, right? But then Jake hyung said and I quote ‘you mean from the sweet life of Zack and Cody’.”
“Oh.” Jay laughs, dragging the syllable out. “You mean Suite Life of Zach and Cody.”
“That’s exactly what I said hyung!” Jungwon replies, rolling his eyes.
“No,” Jay shakes his head before thinking better of is. “Never mind. The Suite Life of Zach and Cody is a Disney show.” He explains.
Jungwon tilts his head. “He’s going to dress up as someone from a Disney show?”
Jay shrugs. “Maybe he’ll be Esteban. Or Mr. Mosbey.”
Jungwon doesn’t know who those people are; they don’t sound like costumes that he would enjoy.
“Halloween is tomorrow Wonie, quit being so impatient.” Jay laughs, feeding him some ramyun.
He chews a bit before responding. “I don’t think I’d be like this if Riki and Sunoo hyung weren’t so secretive about their costumes.”
Jay snorts. “If it helps, I know who Sunoo is dressing up as.”
“Hyung.” Jungwon deadpans, rolling his eyes. “Do you really think I’m upset about not knowing what Sunoo hyung’s costume is?”
The other laughs loudly, covering his mouth with his hand. “Nope.”
Jungwon wonders if he should make his last attempt in finding out the costume by cornering Sunghoon or Heeseung.
On one hand, Sunghoon and Sunoo are some type of thing so that means Sunoo would definitely let Sunghoon in on the secret right? But, there’s also the chance that his sunshine hyung would either leave the other out of the loop or swear him to secrecy.
On the other hand, Ni-ki is close to Heeseung. They’ve been playing Animal Crossing together lately. Maybe Ni-ki accidentally told the eldest.
He decides to take his chance on Heeseung. Jungwon finds him practicing his guitar in his room.
“Hyung.” He says, sitting next to Heeseung. Maybe if he acts cute Heeseung hyung would budge.
“Jungwon.” Heeseung responds, still fiddling with the strings of his guitar.
He pouts. “Hyung, do you know what Riki’s costume is going to be?”
“Nope. I tried peeking in the makeup room and Sunoo glared at me until I left.” Heeseung shrugs.
“Noooooo!” Jungwon whines.
Heeseung gives him a side hug. “Its ok, Wonie. We’ll all find out tomorrow.”
The young leader decides to try and talk to Ni-ki again. He walks into their room, only to find his boyfriend missing. Coincidentally, Jungwon notices, Sunoo is missing as well. He tiptoes to their makeup room and presses his ear to the door.
He can hear them giggling but nothing else.
“Wonie is going to die when he sees you in this.” Sunoo says, impressed.
“You think so?” He hears Ni-ki ask. His boyfriend sounds so insecure that he wants to walk in there and remind him of his reaction when he saw Ni-ki in hair extensions. Jungwon would die regardless of what Ni-ki is wearing.
“I know so. Haven’t you noticed?” Sunoo reassures him. “Jungwon can’t ever take his eyes off you. Even when you’re wearing your Shin-chan pajamas.”
That makes Ni-ki laugh, and Jungwon softly snort.
“I’m so excited to show Wonie hyung my costume tomorrow. I hope he’s really surprised!”
Jungwon decides that since Ni-ki wants to surprise him, he’ll just wait until tomorrow.
—
He hasn’t seen Ni-ki all night. Sunoo dragged him into the makeup room after he showered, leaving the rest of the team to decorate for their party.
They’re practically done, and he still hasn’t seen the two. Jungwon is jittery with nerves, his expectations for Ni-ki’s costume at an all time high.
Sunghoon has his EDM playlist on, and they’re snacking on popcorn.
“Are you guys ready to see our costume?” Sunoo asks from the hallway.
Both Jungwon and Sunghoon perk up. Ah, so Sunoo really did keep Sunghoon out of the loops. He’s glad he’s not alone.
Everyone has their attention to the hallway when Sunoo steps out. He’s wearing a red latex body suit, with a heart on a white belt.
He hears Sunghoon splutter, dropping his bowl of popcorn on the floor.
Jungwon isn’t paying attention because Ni-ki is coming out from behind the older. And holy shit. He feels the world coming to a complete stop, and everyone’s talking becomes background noise.
Their youngest member is wearing all baby pink. There’s a beret on his head, and he has a cardigan on, with pink fur on the edges on the collar. But that’s not what really matters because Ni-ki is wearing a short skirt to match. A skirt. With knee high socks and pink platform boots to top it all off.
The skirt is short, so short. Jungwon thinks it barely covers Ni-ki’s butt. And the socks. They make Ni-ki’s already long legs look even longer.
He can feel the room start to get hot, and all he can see is his Riki. Jungwon wants to touch, but he can see Ni-ki nervously looking at him so he walks right up to his boyfriend.
“Hyung, do you like it? You’ve been staring for a few minutes now.”
Jungwon swallows and he can see Ni-ki track the movement of his Adam’s apple. Sunoo was right. He’s really going to die.
“Riki I love it.” He whispers.
“Get a room!” Jake hollers.
He spins around to glare, but Jake has a good idea. Jungwon takes Ni-ki by hand and leads him towards their room.
“Wait no!” He can hear Jay yell. “Do not get a room!”
Ni-ki laughs as Jungwon locks the door behind him. Ni-ki takes a seat on his bed. “Do you really like it hyung?”
Jungwon nods and sits next to his boyfriend. He wants to touch so bad, his fingers are doing the twitching thing again.
“Hyung.” Ni-ki says, his eyes knowing. That’s all the permission he needs to slide his hand up Ni-ki’s thigh. It’s soft and smooth, like he’
He lets out a deep breath and with his other hand he slowly touches the fur on Ni-ki’s cardigan. Jungwon lets his hand slip and oh Ni-ki isn’t wearing anything under the cardigan.
“Hyung.” Ni-ki whimpers. “Please.”
Jungwon pulls Ni-ki up, so Ni-ki is sitting on his lap. His knees are bent on either of Jungwon’s side. The younger member grabs onto Jungwon’s haori.
The leader leans in close, their lips almost touching. “Please what, Riki?” He teases. Jungwon tightens his grip on Ni-ki’s waist, making the younger whimper.
“Kiss me hyung.”
He presses their lips together, his tongue making his way into Ni-ki’s mouth. They’ve done this a couple more times since their photoshoot, and every time they do this, it makes Jungwon feel some type of way.
Ni-Ki melts into the kiss, wrapping his arms around Jungwon’s neck to pull them closer. One of Jungwon’s hand makes it way back onto Ni-ki’s thigh and he can feel the younger shiver.
Jungwon can’t help but bite Ni-ki’s lip. “You’re mine, Riki.” He reminds the younger, their foreheads touching.
Ni-ki hums. “Always.”
And that’s the first time since their conversation about promise rings that someone akin to forever is promised.
“The next time you wear a skirt, it’ll only be for me. Not for everyone else to see.” Jungwon says, no room for question in his voice.
Ni-ki giggles, and presses his lips against Jungwon. He lets Jungwon kiss him breathless, his hand stilling on Ni-ki’s thigh. Jungwon pinches it.
The younger pulls away, pouting. “What was that for?”
“Did you hear me, Riki?”
Ni-ki nods. “Yes, hyung. Skirts only for you.”
“Good.” Jungwon nods and attaches his lips to Ni-ki’s neck.
“Hyung.” He gasps, his entire body shaking. “No marks.”
And Jungwon knows he can’t leave marks, but he wants to so bad. Maybe then everyone will know who Ni-ki belongs to.
Until the day he can, Jungwon settles for pressing soft kisses instead.
Later, when they’re lying side by side, cheeks flushed and lips bruised, Jungwon has a question.
“So… who are you supposed to be?”
Ni-ki cackles, and slap Jungwon’s arm. “London Tipton, hyung.”
“I don’t know who that is, but I think you should dress like her more often.”
The younger snorts.
“Only for me, though.”
