"This is a haunted house?"
"Yeah,"
"Doesn't look like it."
"Probably because it's still bright outside. Well, almost bright." Hera looked up at the sky, the sun still up and casting a soft orange glow to the mansion in front of them. It was around 4 PM, and the streets were crowded as everyone gave last touches for their house decorations. Kids energetically ran around in their costumes with their parents in tow, making sure their kids were safe, the kids were always eager for trick or treats. Yet because of the mansion's reputation as a haunted house, all of them avoided it out of fear.
So there they were, standing out as they stood in front of the gateway to the mansion. People that passed them gave them weird and cautious looks or just outright ignored them.
Hera glanced at a family once and their kid cried, the parents rushing him away from there and trying to calm him down.
Huh. Weird.
"Why are we here again?" Kid grumbled, face in a frown and arms crossed. He did not like the stares being sent their way.
"Ivy recommended this place for halloween."
"I still don't trust that guy, he's sketchy."
"Is it because that one prank Ivy pulled on you?"
" Nooo, " Kid rolled his eyes, sarcasm dripping off his voice, "of course it is!!"
"Ivy said sorry, didn't he?"
"Sure as hell didn't look like he was."
In the middle of their conversation, they'd started to walk together, not wanting to waste anymore time. Hera stopped suddenly before looking around, "Where… did this fog come from?"
Kid froze before looking around as well.
"Fuck."
The sky rapidly turned dark and an eerie laugh echoed around them.
"Double fuck."
"I hate you." Kid as he took the phone from Hera, who was calling Ivy.
"Yeah, yeah, you're welcome, so did you get a chance to hug her?"
"Isn't it supposed to be the other way around?"
"Do you really think Hera was gonna be scared?"
"Fair point." Kid handed back the phone to Hera, who had been patiently waiting.
"Ivy, will you pick us up now? Also, I wanted to ask, why did those 'ghosts' run away from me?"
Silence answered Hera from the other side.
"Hold up—yeah, I—I'm gonna pick you up. " Ivy sounded like he was wheezing on the other side of the phone.
"BELLADONNA, COME HERE! YOU AIN'T GONNA BELIEVE WHAT HAPPENED!" Ivy's loud voice was heard very clearly, cackling madly as he called for his best friend.
Hera frowned at the phone, confused, as Ivy turned off the call. She looked at Kid, who avoided her gaze and looked like he was also holding back his laugh.
"Why'd Ivy laugh? Did I say something funny?"
Kid couldn't hold back his laughter anymore and let out a loud cackle.
