Work Text:

The book that Kaizan entered takes him to a world with a lush forest consisting of thick trees and various wild plants. The Librarian sent him to delve into this book alone, but he doesn't mind, he is used to traveling alone.

He journeys further into the forest. The deeper he goes, the less sunlight escapes the trees, casting a shadow over everything.

It's eerily quiet inside the book. No animals frolicking about, or birds singing, only Kaizan and the sounds of footsteps on the dirt. Despite his familiarity with this story, It all still feels surreal.

He kept walking until he encountered a brick building. Maybe there is someone inside that could help him navigate through this forest.

Kaizan knocks on the door, but receives no reply, he then tried the doorknob, and finds that it is unlocked. He doesn't want to be rude and enters a home whilst it inhabitants are away, but he has no other options.

The inside of the building is dark, Kaizan could barely make out the silhouette of furnitures in the room, there are windows hanging on the wall sides, but their drapes are covered. He feels the wall to try and find a light switch, but it was futile.

Just when he thought about revealing the drapes on one of the windows, he noticed a pair of blue eyes staring straight at him, making him jumped.

The eyes kept their gaze on Kaizan. Are they the resident of this building? Could it be a taint? Kaizan isn't sure, but he ought to be careful nonetheless.

He takes a deep breath, and askes warily, "Excuse me, I'm sorry for disturbing you, but can you help me find my way through this forest?"

"Is he the one?" A gruff voice said from the shadows.

"He definitely fits the bs' description." another voice, croaky and hoarse, replied.

Another pair of eyes pops out.

"I want to devour him whole."

"I wonder if he taste sweet."

K doesn't like the words that came from of the owner of those eyes.

He immediately backs away from whoever or whatever dwells in the building, as he retreats, his back bumps against the wall. No, not the wall, it was the door, and it was locked.

And before he has time to draw his weapon, the pair of eyes lunged at him.

"Kenji, is Kaizan sensei back yet?"

Kenji looks up from his sketchpad. "Not yet, Librarian san."

"I see..." The Librarian furrows his brows, he pause for a moment, then said, "Do tell me if he comes back, okay?"

"Yes Librarian san!" Kenji replied cheerfully.

The Librarian then left the room. Kenji could understand his master's worry, it has been over the timer for the book delve, but Kaizan san still hasn't returned. Kenji approach the book in front of him, the title on the book reads "The Restaurant of Many Orders". Kenji smiles, "I wonder how Kaizan san is doing? I hope my friends are treating him well, he is a very special friend of mine after all."

Convincing the Librarian to choose Kaizan san to delve into his book was easier than he expected, maybe being reincarnated with a child's body has its advantages after all.

Kenji stares at the big grandfather clock in the corner of the library. He's thinking about giving it another 15 minutes before he intervenes, he can't keep Kaizan san in his book for too long, the Librarian is already becoming suspicious.

With that Kenji returns to his drawing, happily humming as he doodles.
