Halloween in Camp Half-Blood is not taken lightly, you always have to go extreme on the decorations, hardcore on the food, and did I mention that they even assign Deathly Quests? Well, not literally "Deathly" since we don't want you dying on the Halloween Night, or on any night, you know what just try not to die.
I'm Percy, coming right from Camp Half-Blood, and this is the story on how we almost summoned the devil.
You see, even though us half-bloods solely live based on myths. There are a bunch of myths that we can say for sure are not real. But sometimes, they're very much real, you just can't see them yet.
Sorry to go all spooky on you, but it's Halloween, what did you expect?
Our story starts in the mysterious woods of Camp Half-Blood, where the myth started. It all starts with a boy named Stephen, son of Ares. Stephen was not your average son of Ares, and I don't mean that in the "special powers" way. He was weak, lonely, and afraid. If he could here me now he would probably beat me into a pulp, but since it got him, I don't think he is.
See, young Stephen was afraid of the woods, he had to stay strong while around his fellow Ares cabin peers, the only person who knew his secret was Ares, the other gods didn't care enough to watch him.
Now, unlike the douche god you all love and know, Ares actually kept watch of his children, and when he knew that Stephen was afraid, he wasn't so happy.
Man up! Ares's voice ringed in Stephens mind.
"Shut up!" Stephen snarled, "Go away!"
Not unless you want to get torn into shreds! Ares snapped back.
Stephen winced, "What, is there anything here?"
Ares knew he could take control of Stephen by controlling his greatest fear, everything, but he chose not to because for once he is a good father.
I don't know, but there could be! Ares said in Stephens mind.
There goes Ares, being a complete douche again.
Throughout Stephens constand rummaging through the forest, he totally forgot why he came there in the first place, something about him running away from Camp Half-Blood after one of the Apollo kids called him a "Medusa Head" for the third time in a row.
Finally, after all the twists and turns he made, he found something, although it was not as reassuring as he was hoping for anything he encountered to be. Some sort of abandoned building covered in moss.
"By Zeus" Stephen mumbled, this place must've been abandoned for thousands of years, before the era of the gods.
Stephen was really shook now, tripping over every step he took. he could barely hold his dagger in his hand, yes he came armed, like any sane half-blood who ddin't want to commit suicide in the woods.
"Where in Hades is the damn entrance?!" Stephen said to himself.
He noticed that Ares had stopped speaking to him, perhaps he was too scared to even watch.
He finally found the front door and when he took one step inside he knew he was going to regret it. In the front entrance there was a sign.
"Camp Half-Blood research lab of all things not greek, or roman," He read aloud, "Yep, definitely abandoned."
Wandering throughout, he saw multiple containment cells which were probably meant to be for different mythological creatures. All of them probably died, but as he passes by one, he saw something inside of the cell.
He stopped in his tracks, took a closer look, and saw a black cloud of gas.
Strange he thought, but he shrugged it off (not to be expected from the kid who is scared of everything!)
He started walking again, this time more cautiously, then, oh and this next thing actually scared him, he heard a sound that sounded a little like this.
CRACK!
He leaped back and yelped, he saw that the containment cell was broken, that cloud of black was intelligent, and it was coming for him.
Stephen tried running for the exit, but the exit was sealed shut, he tried carving a hole with his dagger, the steel the building was made of was too thick. He then huddled into a ball and started sobbing.
Man up! Stephen heard Ares scream.
"H-h-h" Stephen shuddered.
He saw the cloud drawing close towards him, all the time, the cloud turned into his greatest fears, spiders, ravioli, Mr. D on Fridays, he couldn't take it, he screamed, "HELP!!!!"
The cloud devoured him.
