Work Text:
"NOW NOW, [[Angel]]! THERE'S NOTHING TO CRY ABOUT WHEN YOUR OLD PAL SPAMTON IS HERE!"
Spamton sat next to you, wiping the tears from your face with his puppet hands. You don't remember why you got so worked up, but suddenly you could feel the ache in your chest grow and the tears well up in your eyes until you were shaking. You didn't want him to see you like this, for so long you were the one caring for him and being by his side during his dark moments. By letting him into your home when he was all alone and broken. By reminding him that he would never be abandoned again. Yet here you were, feeling so weak and vulnerable.
You tried covering your face with your hands, looking away, doing anything to not look so shameful in front of the puppet sitting in your lap. Yet he still grasped your face gently, turning your head back to his tinted glasses.
"LOOK AT ME, [[Doll]]. I KNOW HOW IT FEELS WHEN [[Times are Rough]]. STUCK UNDER THE SEWER [[Drain]], CRYING [[Press F1 for HELP]], BEGGING YOUR FRIENDS TO [[Come back next time!]] UNTIL YOU REALIZE YOU'RE ALONE."
His voice always sounded staticy--almost like it was coming through a phone reciever--yet it was so comforting to you in a special way.
"BUT YOU NEVER HAVE TO FEEL [[Single and Lonely?]] AGAIN! YOU NEVER HAVE TO BE JUST A PUPPET ON STRINGS ANYMORE! YOU NEVER HAVE TO CRY WHEN YOU HAVE A [[Million-Dollar]][[Angel]] NEXT TO YOU! YOU'RE THE [[BIG SHOT]] OF MY [[Heart]], [[Y/N]]! NOW [[Let's see that smile!]]"
You smiled. You could tell he was projecting his own feelings on you, but hearing the way he felt about you warmed your heart.
"Thank you Spamton, I--"
Your sentence was abrupted by Spamton wrapping his arms around you. You felt your face heat up and the pain in your chest finally subside.
"I PROMISE IT WILL BE OKAY." He reminded you. You finally wrapped your arms around him and gently pet his hair.
You could stay like this forever.
