Work Text:
It was a lovely, quiet morning. He could even hear birds chirping in the crisp air as he gently woke up from his slumber. Gaon sat up in his bed, squinting as light was already pouring in through the windows. It was a Saturday, and he knew that for sure. It was the only day of the week that Yohan would ever let himself sleep in past daybreak. A strong arm was still comfortable you hooked around Gaon's waist. Weighing him down and tugging him closer.
Gaon smiled at the man. It had been a long time getting here, but he was quite content to be with Yohan like this. He never feels alone when he can cuddled up with Yohan and just be held safe. The other man sleeps with him every night, as Yohan doesn't sleep well without him either. Gaon has never felt this content with life.
The outside world mattered little to him these days. Only Yohan and Elijah mattered, who cared for him deeply. Other past relationships had faded away in a suicidal haze, giving up on him when he needed people the most. That's okay though, he didn't need childhood friends or gangster-like professors. He needed love, warmth and someone to take care of him. A kiss to his forehead and a soft reassuring word. Everything would be alright as long as they could be together.
And it's not like he hadn't met new friends along the way. Yohan's driver (and right hand man) was named K. He was pleasant to be around and seemed to enjoy coddling Gaon. He'd probably lost someone important to himself in the past and wish he could have done more. It was okay though, because Gaon never minded holding hands to be led somewhere or the way his friend would swipe his face in a daze.
Yohan was sometimes jealous of the way he'd just started to let K touch him. It was laughable to Gaon though, because those two were definitely a family. Brothers probably, with how much they supported one another and argued on the side. Elijah even called K uncle sometimes, just to irritate Yohan. Gaon thought it hilarious. He liked how lively the house had gotten when they all had dinner together.
Gaon smiled at the still sleeping man and laid back down to comfortably cuddle him. Face pressing into the older man's neck. He breathed in the way he smelled and nestled into the warmth of his body. Yes, Saturday mornings were the best. He wished Yohan didn't have to leave him during the other morning for work, but understood that it was necessary.
Gaon had begun to joke with his therapist that he sometimes felt like a housewife, just waiting for her husband to come back. The woman had kindly smiled at him and said that if it made him happy, then Gaon didn't need to change it. Having something to look forward to was good for him.
Yohan had gotten him a therapist through trial and error, first taking time to personally drive him to appointments with different people until Gaon had nervously asked if they could find someone to video-chat instead. The office was too daunting and one time someone else had been in the waiting room and Gaon had nearly clawed his own skin off when recognized.
The trade off was once a week he'd go to a group meeting. Most people in the group were teenaged girls dealing with either drugs or from a bad home situation. He often felt like an older brother listening to them and tended to bring home baked goods to every meeting to make sure everyone had something sugary to eat after talking about hard things. Elijah sometimes went with him, once even opened up about the fire she'd lost her parents in. It was healing. Gaon was proud of her, the girls and even himself.
"What are you thinking about?" A tired voice finally spoke as Gaon giggled into the man's neck. Oh, he'd probably moved around so much that Yohan had woke up. That was fine, the man never liked over sleeping and was fond of staring at Gaon any given chance. Gaon loved that about him.
"Just how happy I am to be here with you." He easily said back, inching back to smile tenderly. He'd lived with the Kang's for a year now, almost to the day. Sometimes he still had dark thoughts, but it was easy to talk to Yohan about them when the older man always made time for him. More the once he'd come home from work because Gaon had shakingly needed a hug to feel tethered to the world. One time he'd even cancelled the live broadcast, stating he had an emergency.
Yohan kissed him lightly on the lips, smiling back. He looked content and disheveled in a way a person only could in the morning after a good sleep. Gaon giggled a bit and caressed the arm still on his waist. "Should we go make some breakfast?" He asked, knowing Yohan won't want to get up. He never does on Saturday. The one morning they get to cuddle all they want.
Yohan predictably makes a groaning noise and presses himself close like Gaon might try to escape. "No." He simply says, like he wasn't going to get his way unless he threw a fit. Gaon giggled again. This was one of the most powerful man in Korea?
"I thought we were going to go to that Aquarium today for a date." He pointed out, teasing happily. Yohan would never go back on a promise, but if he was to tired they could always stay here. Call K to deliver take out and spend the day huddled under the covers while the other two in their family argued over which movie to watch. They'd done that a couple times before and Gaon had loved it. He'd loved that Yohan had trusted him enough to admit that he'd rather rest for the day then be in public eye. Gaon himself felt like that most of the time anyways.
"Hmm, in the afternoon. I've made a reservation for lunch and we'll go walk through the aquarium after that." Yohan tells him, peppering kisses along Gaon's neck. It's just soft, little ones, not even sexual. Gaon had once thought he hadn't deserved to be treated so lovingly, now he craved every tiny touch he could get.
"In a back room, away from everyone else?" He asks, even though he knows that Yohan always does it. This way he can easily praise him for doing the right thing.
"Of course." Yohan confirms, and then tilts his face saying he's waiting for his kiss reward. Gaon grins at him, kisses his nose instead. He then pushes complete away from Yohan and gets out of bed. He likes being a brat in circumstances such as these. It's a lot of fun.
Yohan funnily makes a noise that means ultimate betrayal and makes grabby hands at him without ever moving. Gaon dances away from the bed and pulls on his house robe. He pulls it tightly shut around his body and ties it. That will hide the aggressively purple hickeys Yohan had left just below his left nipple from prying eyes. Not that it would bother Elijah, but she would definitely tease him about it.
Yohan makes one last wounded noise and collapses into a heap, dramatically. Gaon rolls his eyes at the older man, but can't help another giggle. "Come on old man, I want to make sure Elijah get a proper breakfast since we're leaving her alone for lunch." He states, this time holding out his hand to help Yohan up.
Yohan snorts too, and finally gets up out of bed. He kisses Gaon's forehead when close enough and lets the younger man help him into his own house robe. Patting the material smooth after tying it tight, Gaon sneaks in a grope of Yohan's ass. Yohan winks at him with a smile. They shared another kiss, before Gaon's phone informs him he has a text. "That's definitely her."
"Let her wait." Yohan complains, pulling him forward for one more kisses and hugging him close. Oh, someone is extra cuddly this morning. Gaon almost feels bad for making him get out of bed. They could have stayed there if Yohan had insisted, Elijah would have understood.
"Hmm?" Gaon hums, pretending to have to decide. They're already up now. "No." He says, winking like it wasn't obvious. Yohan sighs, but it's done with agreement. They both don't like to keep Elijah waiting. She won't live with them forever after all and any time the teenager wants to spend with them is a blessing.
Gaon happily texts her back that they're up and about to cook some breakfast. She wants Eggs Benedict, as she has every time they've made breakfast for the last month. Teenagers can be weirdly fixated on things like that. It doesn't help that Gaon always makes anything she requests. That's what family does after all; makes sure people are fed, happy and listened too. Loved and cherished.
Pressing another kiss to the side of Yohan's face, scratching against his stubble that definitely needs to be shaved, Gaon decides he couldn't be happier with how things were now.
