Fabrication and the Frustration it Brings

Summary:

Haru’s quick glances around showed him no signs of Daisuke and his stomach turned. Had Daisuke even arrived yet? Haru hadn’t been able to bring his gun with him under strict instructions from Daisuke and now here he was, completely unprotected, being hand delivered to a psychotic sadist.

Chapter Text

Haru glanced around the club as casually as he could muster attempting to find their target for the night. From his seat next to the bar, he could see the majority of clubgoers quite easily and sure enough his eyes landed on a tall lanky figure lounging on the sofa in the VIP section.

Nagisa, the intended target for the night seemed like a young frivolous man but hidden underneath the playboy exterior was a man who was cruel and vindictive and in his pursuit for wealth had exploited the lives of the desperate, bullying and blackmailing them into performing his dirty work whether that was human trafficking or drug peddling.

The Modern Crime Prevention Task Force was meant to be hunting for a lead regarding a string of minor thefts from computer stores but once again they had revealed a much deeper plot. Daisuke had once again been the one to realise that all the technology being stolen was simply a cover for drug trafficking and then he had managed to bribe one of the witnesses into releasing the name Nagisa. Daisuke and Haru were once again assigned to find this mysterious Nagisa and gain as much information as they could both about him and from him.

Their goal today was to get access to a USB Nagisa always carried with him. Daisuke with his many connections had set up a meeting with the man to discuss a possible business agreement, the details of which Haru had not been privy too much to his annoyance. It was why Haru was currently sitting at the bar rather than by Daisuke’s side. Not that he wanted to be by Daisuke’s side necessarily. He just wanted to be treated as an equal not as a pawn in the other man’s elaborate plans. At bare minimum he wanted to at least know what was going on but even that wish was too much for Daisuke to honour. As Haru scowled thinking about Daisuke he was interrupted by the voice of Suzue through his earpiece.

“Two of Nagisa’s bodyguards are approaching you. Just follow their instructions. If anything goes down Daisuke will distract them long enough for you to get out,” a voice crackled in through Haru’s headset. The sudden sound of Suzue’s voice caused Haru to startle slightly and his eyes flickered up to make eye contact with two extraordinarily burly men approaching him.

Haru immediately forced himself to relax, letting his scowl disappear into a look of mock confusion. Internally he was panicking. Had Nagisa been tipped off? Was this a hidden part of Daisuke’s plan? From a quick analysis of the two bodyguards, they did not appear to be angry or approaching in a threatening manner. Kind of? Both their faces were completely bereft of any readable emotion. Their hands were visible however and they did not appear to be gripping any weapons instead simply hovering by their sides. One of the bodyguards did seem to have a gun but it was tucked away in his belt only visible due to the slight movements his suit jacket made as he walked.

“Sir, please come with us,” boomed one of the bodyguards, the one who had his gun tucked in his belt. Haru frowned and went to deny the invitation when the other guard interrupted him.

“Mr Nagisa requests an audience with you,” he growled gesturing to Nagisa who was now clearly watching Haru’s interactions with the bodyguards.

“Oh-,” Haru began before the same bodyguard lowered his voice, “Sir it would be wise for you to just come. Nagisa is not someone you turn down.”

The warning was not lost on Haru and with an “Oh, okay,” Haru slid off his barstool and followed the bodyguard who had spoken to him. He was fully aware the other bodyguard was following him just behind. Despite Haru’s height he felt himself being dwarfed by both bodyguards.

As Haru tried to focus on a possible escape route in case things got awry, he noticed the bodyguard in front of him bow. As he did Haru laid eyes on Nagisa up close for the first time that afternoon and he felt his breath catch as he realised that Nagisa was oddly attractive.

Currently Nagisa was wearing a crisp navy suit tailored to compliment his athletic build. His long legs bulged against the material almost obscenely highlighting strong muscular thighs. He was like a dichotomy between fragile and strong which was likely why he was underestimated so much in the criminal world. His face seemed to display the same dichotomy, the sharpness of the features clashing with the dark brown eyes and soft smirk he currently had. If Haru didn’t already know anything about the man, he would probably describe Nagisa as beautiful.

As Haru stood frozen he felt Nagisa’s eyes run over him appraising him as if he were meat at a butcher’s shop. Eventually Nagisa looked up, “Well, aren’t you going to say hello?” he asked, voice lilted up slightly in amusement.

Flushing out of fear but playing it off as embarrassment Haru stepped forward and quickly bowed deeply. He wasn’t about to disrespect a high-ranking criminal anytime soon. To his surprise he heard a chuckle and before he could react, a gloved hand brushed under his chin and titled his head up. Haru felt like a rabbit caught in a trap as his head was forced up to face Nagisa’s whilst his body remained bent over awkwardly.

“I’m Tanaka Hiroshi,” Haru quickly blurted out as he slipped his chin out of Nagisa’s fingers. The action earnt him a small flash or irritation before Nagisa stood. Like the bodyguards he too seemed to tower above Haru. Feeling a bit too close to Nagisa for comfort Haru tried to step back only to feel Nagisa step forward and wrap a hand around the back of his neck.

“Tanaka, huh,” Nagisa muttered under his breath gently rubbing circles with the thumb pressed against Haru’s neck. “That means generous doesn’t it sweetheart.”

Haru could only mumble a soft yes widening his eyes as he stared into Nagisa’s own. It was like he was staring into the ocean, alluring but with the threat of the unknown just below the surface.

“Well,” Nagisa mumbled whilst gently using his other thumb to softly swipe across Haru’s lower lip, “I do hope you live up to your name sweetheart.” With that Nagisa tugged Haru forward by his neck and pulled him into a kiss.

Haru surprised by the action moaned softly into this kiss and opened his mouth allowing Nagisa to slip his tongue in. As soon as Haru’s shock wore off he realised what was going on. From what Haru he had remembered Nagisa, though a famous womaniser, secretly had a soft spot for men, especially the shy and as Shinnosuke had joked about earlier, the virginal sort. Trying not to panic Haru continued the kiss allowing his hands to wander up across Nagisa’s chest tentatively.

He felt himself freeze momentarily as his hand brushed along the familiar shape of a small USB. Trusting his instincts, he let his hands slip inside the jacket and to Nagisa’s side earning him a soft pleased hum against his lips. As he slipped out the USB with his right hand, his left hand ghosted over another familiar shape. A gun. As if a switch had been flicked, he felt Nagisa pull away abruptly and Haru felt a bolt of fear shoot up his spine.

“Now, now Hiroshi-san. You seem like a smart boy,” Nagisa said, leaning over letting his breath ghost over Haru’s face. “I also think you don’t want to disappoint me,” he continued leaning over further to whisper the implied threat in Haru’s ear. Haru felt bile rise in his throat. He was sure he had been caught until Nagisa moved Haru’s left hand away from the gun and moved to place warm kisses against his neck. Haru audibly sighed in relief realising it was the gun Nagisa had threatened him for. As he did Nagisa’s grip on him tightened and Haru groaned as he felt the press of a thigh against his crotch. Hey, he may have been a seasoned detective, but he was still a human.

“I hope I’m not interrupting something,” came a familiar voice from directly behind Haru. Nagisa immediately straightened up, letting go of Haru momentarily as annoyance crossed his face. Haru immediately made to move away but Nagisa wrapped his hand around Haru’s wrist pulling him down as well. Haru blushed at the action especially as Nagisa’s cold hands moved to wrap around his waist and prevent him from moving.

“Daisuke,” Nagisa greeted his demeanour returning to one of charm and politeness. He seemed warm and friendly, none of his prior annoyance remaining at least on the surface.

“Nagisa, it’s a pleasure to meet you,” Daisuke smiled. It was the first time Haru had laid his eyes on Daisuke all night and he was surprised to see the man had left his normal slightly looser black suit behind opting instead for an emerald one similar in style to that of Nagisa’s. Haru assumed it was psychological hack to push Nagisa into trusting Daisuke or to psych him out. Either way he found himself not caring as he instead focused on Daisuke’s face instead.

To his surprise Daisuke was watching him already, face unreadable.

“Do you like him,” Nagisa asked amusement entering his tone.

Daisuke frowned slightly before looking away from Haru at Nagisa. “I didn’t realise we could bring along toys.”

Haru tried not to scowl at Daisuke when he was referred to as a toy. Trying not to react, he shuffled back pressing his back against Nagisa’s chest letting the man tighten his arms around Haru’s waist. He figured the smartest move was to act genuinely interested in Nagisa until he could escape. Well, that and the fact that it would annoy Daisuke which it seemed to achieve if Daisuke’s eyebrow furrow was anything to go by.

“Don’t worry, Tanaka here is my entertainment tonight,” Nagisa smiled. It appeared he believed Daisuke’s annoyance was more at the thought of being overheard. It was only then that Haru realised the bodyguards were now outside the VIP room with their backs turned as they guarded the area.

Suddenly Nagisa squeezed Haru’s waist drawing a surprised gasp before sliding them away to collect some files. Seeing his chance Haru let part of the USB slip out from the cuff of his jacket into his hand. Nagisa wouldn’t be able to see Haru’s hand however Daisuke would.

Daisuke’s eyes flickered down momentarily at the movement; no signs of recognition crossing his face, but Haru had been Daisuke’s partner long enough to notice the subtle change in the man’s posture. Realising Daisuke had understood Haru slid the USB back up his sleeve and out of site.

“So, Daisuke, I assume you’re here to inquire about the-,” Nagisa began before being interrupted.

“How much?,” Daisuke asked nodding his head towards Haru.

“How much?”

“Yes, how much for Hiroshi”

The sudden exchange caused Haru to splutter, “I’m not for sale” he began before feeling Nagisa’s nails dig into his skin. The pain continued as the nails pierced through his skin causing him to wince.

Daisuke simply glanced at Haru with a bored look before refocusing his attention on Nagisa. “How much?” he repeated.

“12 million yen.”

“Deal.”

“What,” Haru said standing indignantly and spinning around. “I’m not for sale.”

Nagisa simply sneered at him, “Really, because I do believe I just sold you.” Any signs of the man’s previous possessive behaviour seemed to have disappeared replaced by the callousness Nagisa was known for.

Before Haru could say anything else he felt a hand tug at the back of his shirt, and he felt himself stumble backwards right onto Daisuke’s lap. Unlike Nagisa, Daisuke then moved Haru off him forcing him to sit by his side. Surprised he looked up at Daisuke only to see Daisuke watching Nagisa like a hawk.

“So Nagisa,” Daisuke began, “You said I might be interested in something else?”

“I did,” Nagisa grinned.

The next few minutes involved Nagisa explaining how he had managed to single-handedly create and run a site where anyone within his trusted network could buy or sell items they liked. Which was seemed quite mundane until his voice quieted a bit, and he gestured to Haru pointedly, “Items we may not receive anywhere else.”

The action made Haru’s stomach roll in revulsions, the acidic taste of bile entering his mouth. Just the simple action of listening to Nagisa’s refer to him as an item made him feel dirty and disgusted.

Daisuke finally cut in. “Thank you for the offer, Nagisa. Unfortunately, you’ve just lost yourself a business deal,” he said standing. “You’ve probably have gained yourself a life sentence though.”

Nagisa spluttered before his eyes narrowed on Daisuke, “How dare you-,” he began before a flurry of shouts echoed from outside.

“Tanaka-san, I think you should leave while you still can,” Daisuke said gesturing towards the club exit. Haru simply stared at the billionaire detective. What the hell was going on?

He felt Daisuke reach for his wrist when Haru’s brain finally logged back in. Pulling his arm way, he stood and ran through the entrance to the VIP room. To his surprise neither of the bodyguards stopped him. Pushing past the confused drunk party-goers he went straight for the exit. He was met by Suzue sitting on her motorbike. Haru sighed as he got on the back.
