Work Text:
March was hot and bothering for Himiko. Considering that she hates the heat and summer rain in general, this wasn't a good thing. Whereas for Kokichi it's the month before April 1st. Aka, he hates March as well due to the fact he couldn't just wait and get started on pranks, so this unnecessary month wasn't in his good books too. So of course, on a cold, stormy, night in this month that they both don't appreciate that much, they were both stuck together in a creepy cabin in the middle of the woods.
How did all this happen again..?
"Wait wait, how did you.." Himiko was interrupted before she could finish.
"YES! I GOT THOSE TICKETS FOR THAT NEW BEACH RESORT!" Kaede had already squealed this a bunch of times before, but Himiko didn't want to ruin her happiness. Seeing Kaede glowing with joy seemed to make everyone around her at the moment happy.
"This is great Kaede! Guess that means it's packing time for us huh Maki roll?" Kaito looked over to the dark-haired girl who was on the chair next to Kaede's side of the couch. She took a sip of her hot cocoa and sighed. Packing for a vacation sucked.
"Kaede, you still haven't answered my question yet," Himiko said for the fiftieth time, gently nudging her.
"Ah- What was it Himiko?" Kaede's eyes seemed to glow with joy. Himiko wondered how Shuichi handled that on a daily basis but she couldn't just sit and think about that. She needed to ask-
"How did you get these tickets?" Suddenly a silence fell upon the room. Not even Miu, who had been busy guzzling down a can of beer, made a noise.
"Umm..." Shuichi's eyes widened from the realization that that question had just been asked. His face turned beet red in a matter of mere seconds and Kaede was reduced to a nervous laughing mess.
"Ahah- Um- I may or may not have done a couple's contest with Shuichi to get these.." A "couple's contest"? Uh oh.
"What type of couple's contest was this, Kaede dear." Korekiyo was the first to break this uncomfortable silence in which Kaede and Shuichi were just mumbling quietly. Himiko swore she saw Kaede's expression turn from slightly panicked to full-blown "trying to disguise my panic" panicked.
"AHAH! I know exactly what they did!" Miu quickly gained the confidence to speak after Korekiyo did.
"Neeheehee~ It was a dirty contest wasn't it Kaede?" And Kokichi's unnecessary yet partially truthful statement (based on how red both Kaede and Shuichi were right now) just added more things to clear up to the pile. Kaede glanced at Shuichi who was sitting right next to her. She gestured to him, "should we?"
He sighed and looked at everyone. He looked back at her, sighed, and nodded.
"Well.. Kokichi.. you aren't technically wrong." Kokichi got confused all of a sudden. What does she mean by techni-
"It was a nu- god I can't even say it.." Kaede gently patted Shuichi's shoulders, encouraging him to finish the sentence.
"It was a nude photoshoot. Whoever had the most erotic photos would be edited to have some clothes on but will still be featured in a famous magazine. Honestly, Kaede just jumped at the thought of a beach vacation for us so we ended up doing it," Shuichi's face went even more red with shame, and Kaede smiled blissfully. Tenko and Tsumugi just stared in awe at Kaede, and Kaito was this close to going full questions mode on Shuichi.
"Isn't it awesome? Now we get to go on this all-expense paid trip for 3 months!" The entire room went silent. If Himiko dropped a pin from her cape, everyone would most likely flinch from it.
Everyone, except for Kaede herself, Shuichi, and Kokichi, yelled at the pianist.
"3 MONTHS??"
"Neeheehee~! So that's why it was such a risque competition. The prize was huge!" The whole room burst out into conversation, everyone piling questions and questions on top of the blue-haired boy and blonde girl, who at this point were deflated of energy.
After getting a whole bunch of their questions answered, Himiko had one last question to ask them.
"When are we going?" Kaede quickly answered to her, still looking as blissfully cheerful as from before, looked Himiko straight in the eyes and said:
"Day after tomorrow!"
Everyone stepped aboard the large RV, with their heavy luggage in hand. Gonta helped Kokichi and Himiko bring their luggage in, and checked up on everyone. While walking through, he looked at the seat positions. This RV was almost identical to a bus, except it had AC, wifi, and some other utilities that hadn't been mentioned. Therefore, everybody was sitting in pairs, except for the last row. The last row consisted of Kaito, Kokichi, Shuichi, and Rantaro. The row before that was split into two pairs. Tenko and Angie sat together, while Tsumugi and Maki did as well. Before them was Kirumi and Ryoma, and Himiko and Kaede were across from them. Kiibo and Miu sat next to each other, much to Kiibo's disappointment, and Korekiyo was sitting alone. Gonta already had a bigger seat in the bus which was placed there just for him since he.. he wasn't able to sit quite right in the others. Well, now that he had checked everyone's position, time to check if they're done settling in.
"Is everyone ready? You guys took everything, right? Gonta going to ask the driver to start up the bus if everyone ready!" Everybody looked at Gonta and either gave a nod or thumbs up. They were all set. So, Gonta proceeded to tell the driver in the front seat that they were all prepped. The RV started up slowly, as did the conversations that soon followed.
"So, Himiko, you got your swimsuit right?" Tsumugi's question was instantly answered with a yes. The answer was followed up by another question, this time from Kaede, Angie, Tenko, and Tsumugi.
"Can we see please?" She looked away from them, already knowing that they were trying to get her to look at their puppy dog eyes so she would show them. Well, not today.
"Nyeheh! Sorry you four, it's a special surprise." Angie let out a sigh while the other three kept on pestering her. She was starting to get overwhelmed by this so she quickly called out:
"Ah- It's so cold.." She was sitting next to Kaede in the RV, who instantly forgot about the pestering question she wanted to ask, focusing now on her friend's temperature crisis.
"Didn't you bring your sweater with you?" Ah fuck.
"Oh no.. that may have been the one thing I forgot.." Himiko clearly remembered everything she had packed, and not once does she remember touching anything remotely fluffy or wooly during that entire process.
"Himiko.. It's always the things you need most that you misplace huh?" Kaede giggled lightly. The others had stopped pestering Himiko too, instead, now they were indulging in their own conversations with each other.
"Nyeh.." Himiko smiled back, a little frustrated now though. She couldn't just tell the driver to halt just so she could unpack her bag and get a blanket from there. She'd just have to bear with it the entire time now.
Since the ride to this place was about a day long, everyone had dinner at a bistro that they stopped by at. During that time, Himiko had gone outside for a walk mainly because she had finished up her dinner the quickest and also because she needed some warmth before going back into that freezer of a bus.
The wind howled at her through the dark fir trees that surrounded the homely bistro. The moon shone onto the streets, giving everything that it shone onto a pale glimmery coat of light. Her sharp inhales of air made her lungs clear up and she felt as if December was around the corner already but then she was hit with the realization that it was March. "No Christmas... what was this dumb month even for..." Peace started to set in, as the comforting (slightly less cold) atmosphere enveloped her senses.
When she was walking back to the RV, however, she stepped on a stick along the way.
Weird, it wasn't there before... Oh well. She decided to step on it, deciding to crack the silence that she had built around her before she heard a rustle in the greenery around. When she cracked it, she felt a hand poke out through the bushes and pull her into them. She was struggling for this person to let go of her, trying to scream, but they had their hand over her mouth.
"Neeheehee~ Wow I gave you a spook huh Himiko?" She pulled his hand off of her mouth and turned around to see Kokichi, two centimeters away from her. One of his hands was on her stomach and because of that, she was much closer to him than she had ever thunk of. Her face went beet red, her struggle continued, and soon enough she was on her feet while he was still on his knees.
"Nyeh!? Kokichi you scared me to death! I'll- I'll hex you into thin air if I could!" An incredulous look slipped onto his face as he stood up, dusting himself off as he looked back at her.
"If you could? So does that mean the Great Himiko Yumeno can't do magic?" She got even more frustrated, both at his statement and that sly grin that made her blood boil. It was a cute grin, but it was so frustrating in this context.
"No, it just means that you," Himiko placed a hand on his head (quite easily, much to Kokichi's height insecurities), "Kokichi Ouma, are very stupid."
"Oh and how so?"
"W-Well!" She frantically thought of an answer in her head.
"I can't do magic without my wand! It's very important and I myself as a human being don't have the luxury of being that magical."
"Uhuh," Kokichi said, turning around to look at the dark fir trees, "Well I came to get you cause I heard a really spooky rumour from some of the locals who were eating next to me and I wanted to check if it's true or not!". He winked at her, "and you, Himiko Donkey Lips Yumeno, will be my assistant in this excavation."
"S-Spooky rumour..?" She got goosebumps thinking about it. And this being told to her at NIGHT too? Let me die, she thought.
"Mhm! Apparently, if you make a certain shape in the ground in the middle of the forest clearing, any god that you are praying to will automatically use their designated powers. Basically, it could even be a made-up one. Imagine 'Miu, the Goddess of Sex Toys'. Actually- Don't." Now it was time for Himiko to wear that incredulous look.
"Kokichii- Things like that do NOT exist!"
Sarcastically, Kokichi replied; "Oh, and magic does?"
"Exactly! Finally, you get it."
Well, apparently she didn't catch the drift.
"Wow, you are that much of an idiot to not catch that." He sighed loudly, "Oh well, old habits die hard."
"Anyways, besides that, can you please come along?" His tone of mock plea didn't do a thing to persuade her.
"Absolutely.." If she wanted to tease him for all the times that he'd teased her, she'd sneak one in right now, she thought.
"Not." She smiled wide at him, her eyes narrow and her hands on her hips. She was ready to turn away from Kokichi and bolt it to the RV but she felt his hand wrap around hers, pulling her back towards his chest. This couldn't get any worse now, could it.
"What if I told you that I wasn't looking for an answer."
Never mind, it just got worse.
He ran into the forest, with her hand in his, pulling her along. She could barely keep up, her legs were already worn out from this tiny amount of running she had done so far. For some reason, it seemed like he just couldn't stop running. She swore that the sky turned a different shade of dark blue, meaning they'd been running for much longer than she'd thought. She stumbled and tripped on top of many things on the path but somehow he didn't slip on a single thing even though he was sprinting at an inhumane speed.
Finally, they came to a halt in front of an old run-down wooden cabin. She heaved and panted, her back bending down so that her face was situated near her knees. Himiko could've collapsed right then and there, her vision slowly getting blurrier each time she breathed in.
"Hey, hey! You're not allowed to go all tired on me just because we ran for a few minutes! Now come on, help me out here!" She slowly raised her head from her knees, over to Kokichi. He was standing next to a small patch of dirt, where he placed a paper in the corner. Written on it was, "Tenko the Storm God's symbol". Right underneath the writing was a doodle of a poorly drawn flower.
"You- You brought me all the way here- for- for a joke?!" She mustered up enough energy to respond. After saying it though, she felt weaker than ever.
"It's not a joke! If it is, I promise I won't bother you for the next three months!" He put on a face of mock anger and she could instantly tell that she was going to win this side of the deal. Fine, if Kokichi wanted to propose this absolutely wonderful deal, then accept it she shall.
"Nyeh- Huff... You idiot. What do you want me for anyway?" She slowly walked over to him. He was crouched over the dirt and moved away a little to show the same pathetically drawn flower symbol on the dirt.
"I was wondering if you could go get some river water for me. The book clearly asked for "river water from the hands of the purest virgin" so I brought you he-" Suddenly Himiko felt all of her energy, as well as a lot of anger, arise.
"What?! God- Kokichi I knew this was some sort of stupid prank, I'm leaving!" she screamed at him. However, just before she could, the same cold hand wrapped around her own, preventing her from leaving.
"And here I thought you'd take it as a compliment. Anyways, you can leave AFTER you bring that water." He flashed her his signature cheeky smile, the one that made her wonder if she was crazy for wanting to stare at it for more time than necessary. N-No Himiko! Just look away and get him the thing he wants. Then he'll show you the way out of here.
She walked around the trees, remembering that she'd seen a river on the way here in the RV. She just had to find it. Well.. easier said than done. She ended up looking for a good fifteen minutes, all while having no sweater on. The cold was starting to get to her, considering that she'd stayed out here so long that the atmosphere inside the bus and the forest felt the same. While she was shivering, she got completely soaked by a fish deciding to do a summersault into the river. Add that to the list of "Goddamnit Kokichi, this is why I should have never come here with you" list.
She took her precious hat off of her head and dipped it into the water, letting it slowly get filled up. Thankfully it was waterproof since most of her magic performances have water involved. But she was still mad about doing this. Voluntarily getting her prized hat wet wasn't what she wanted to do at the moment but cupping the water with her hands would've been impossible to bring back.
She begrudgingly went back to Kokichi, who had leaned up against a tree by the time she got there. He got up and took the hat, grabbing her hand again to bring her over to the "ritual place".
"Ok, now I slowly fill in the outline of this symbol with water and.." He slowly tipped out the water into the outline of the flower in the dirt. He made sure nothing spilled outside of the lines, being very precise. She couldn't tell if he was messing with her or not but she didn't care. As soon as he finished tipping the correct amount of water into the deep engraves of the flower, Himiko swore that a raindrop just fell on her nose. And another one on her shoulder. And another on her shoe. Wait.. Tenko the "Storm God"?
"Wait a minute I wasn't expecting this to actually work!" Kokichi's surprise made Himiko shocked. So this idiot decided to do a "ritual" and it worked? She couldn't process that. She didn't want to either.
"Come on, I did as you promised now bring me bac-" As soon as Himiko's hand touched Kokichi's shoulder, he uncharacteristically flinched. This flinch caused him to let go of the hat. The water came out of the hat, spilling all over the perfect outline. The hat itself damaged a part of the image, which looked like plain mud now.
"Himiko! Why did you do that? If this is actually true, then what just happened will cause us big time!" Her eyes widened as she felt the raindrops pouring down on her even more. She frantically picked up her hat and used her thin cape as a method of keeping herself dry from the rain. As for Kokichi, he was doing the exact same thing. His half torn cape did little to help him out though, as he realized he was entirely soaked. Unfortunately, Himiko wasn't saved either. Since her cape was very thin, it got soaked through very easily, and soon she was dripping in rain. Kokichi grabbed her hand for possibly the fifth time so far (she hadn't properly kept count) and ran to the cabin nearby. The door wasn't opening but that didn't stop Kokichi from unclipping Himiko's clip from her hair and using it to unlock the door. Finally, it opened.
They both rushed inside and closed the door. They were drenched to the bone. Kokichi was the first to recover from the shock of the sudden cloudburst and he realized very quickly that he would rather stay outside in the heavy rain than stay here. It was dark as hell. The fire was somehow lit, burning brightly, its sparks going onto the wooden floor near it. The wind howling outside was unsettling, the downpour causing very violent sounds along with it.
"Kokichi I think this was a huge mistake." The completely winded Himiko looked at Kokichi, whose back was turned toward her.
"You think, Donkey Lips?" He turned around, his face still having that stupidly charming grin plastered all over it. Why wasn't he angry?
"Nyeh.. don't call me that.." She was pissed off from having to run so much and getting drenched, this wasn't the time for dumb nicknames. Then a thought struck her.
"Wait- how do we get back to the others..?"
The air between them was silent. Only the crashing rain outside created any noise.
"What if I told you first that I lied about the entire spell ritual magic thing. I have no idea why a storm decided to float over our head for no reason, but here we are."
Himiko felt a twinge of irritation, developing into a full feeling to choke him.
"Kokichi, It's because you angered the users of magic from up above. They decided to do this to us because you didn't believe in them and tested their patience." Kokichi narrowed his eyes and pointed a finger at her.
"You can't pin all the blame on me Donkey Lips. You accepted and that's that. Next thing, because all of this was a lie, I just decided to go to a random clearing. Which means.." Himiko's eyes widened. She shuddered, thinking what Kokichi was going to say. She hoped she wasn't correct.
"It means I just ran into the forest. So I don't know how to get out. Woopsies~" She stomped her foot on the ground, her head tilting to the side, eyes wide. Since she was drenched, she looked extremely scary, something that Kokichi never knew this teasable cute mage could be.
"Nyeh.. forget it. I'm going to warm up by the fire. We're waiting here till the storm calms down." She walked over to the fireplace and sat just a few feet away from it. She threw her drenched and muddied-up hat and cape closer to the fire, mainly because she wanted them dried. Kokichi on the other hand was looking outside through one of the foggy windows. It turns out, as his finger wiped the "fog" from the rain, that it was not fog, it was dust. He turned around to look at the inside of this small cabin. His eyes caught Himiko rubbing her hands toward the fire and at that moment the shivering cold finally got to him. He walked over to the fireplace and sat next to Himiko, keeping aside his cape and hat just like she was. A silence swallowed them whole again. The only noises were the downpour outside, the crackling of the fire, and the heaving that came from both of them.
Then a sound broke through.
"Achoo!"
Kokichi turned to look at Himiko, who was rubbing her nose. She was shivering. The fire didn't do much to help her, that was clear.
"Hey, take off your clothes." Himiko looked over at Kokichi as if he was crazy for asking that. He quickly followed up with:
"I mean the soaked clothes, did the innocent little mage think of something else~?" Her face flushed with red as she quickly removed her black blazer, leaving her in a partly wet brown undershirt. She refused to take off her skirt or tights, especially near him. He didn't have a problem with it since she seemed to breath easier after getting rid of the blazer.
"Hm.. maybe squeeze all that water out of your tomato hair." She pouted at him as she reluctantly dried off her hair. She was still sneezing, sure, but she was feeling much better. Kokichi had taken off his white sleeved blazer, leaving him in.. only pants. Himiko looked away the entire time and her ears pricked up when she heard a zipper being zipped up or unzipped. She didn't want to take any chances guessing.
Soon both of them were back to being warm and comfy. Well, that was until the fire started dying down. It slowly whittled into ashes while Himiko and Kokichi desperately scrambled around looking for wood to reignite the fire again. Just as Himiko came back to the small living room, she saw that the fire was dead. They both looked at each other in silent panic. This was fine.
Himiko checked how dry her hat and cape were, along with her black blazer. Kokichi did the same, but both bore the same results. The articles of clothing were still drenched through thoroughly and they had to wait ten years for it to at least be damp without a fire.
They both wrapped their arms around their bodies (A/N : as in they both hugged themselves not each other), wishing to god that maybe the rain would stop. But it didn't and they were both getting tired and cold. There was a couch next to the fireplace, but it looked so dusty and oddly suspicious that they didn't want to even try and sit on it. So they were stuck sitting next to the dead fireplace, rubbing themselves (again, not each other) to create some sort of heat. Nothing worked.
Now, they were getting desperate. Putting their drenched capes around themselves in an attempt to feel warmer but it backfired completely by getting them wet again. Himiko wanted nothing more than to collapse by Kaede's shoulder in that cold, but not colder than this situation, RV.
"A-Achoo!"
There, she did it again. She sneezed for the second time. Her throat was starting to get itchy and she showed it off by trying to breathe in and deftly letting out a few rough coughs. Kokichi scooted over to her and checked her temperature.
"Dear Lord Himiko, you're burning up!" There wasn't much he could do except just watch as this girl, who did nothing to deserve this, sneezed and coughed her throat out. It made him internally punch himself. Maybe if you hadn't brought her along, she wouldn't be here suffering. Ugh- stupid, stupid, stupid me for feeling like this.
"Himiko..?" She weakly looked up at him.
"Y-yes-?" His hands wrapped around hers and in an instant, his face was closer to hers. The warmth of his hands and his closer breaths had Himiko's head feeling a bit clearer. She finally noticed what he stripped down to. Just pants. She was confused about what the zipping noise from earlier was, but at least she knew he wasn't just sitting in his boxers in front of her.
"I have a way to get you warmed up but I know a tsundere like you wouldn't like it." Himiko pouted at him annoyedly once again and told him to do whatever, as long as she was feeling better in the process.
"Do whatever huh? Well-" He quickly slipped his hands out of hers and wraps them around her waist, "How about this?"
Her eyes widened as she thought of what Ouma was going to do.
"Why a hug? Wouldn't you get sick too-?" Kokichi brought a finger to her lips.
"Oh dear mage, we all have our little tricks you know~" He returned his hand back to pull her closer.
"At least tell me what you're doing."
"Hugging, showing affection, cuddling, you know, the normal stuff." She started screaming as much as a feverish person could, saying that they aren't in a relationship so they couldn't do this.
"But didn't you say 'do whatever'?" She looked at him dazed and responded:
"There are a few limits you know! I thought Tenko would break that boundary not you-" She felt his warm hand slowly patting her back, her eyes flickering on her. This may not have been how she wanted to spend the beginning of March but at least she wasn't dead from the cold.
His arms wrapped around her tighter, prompting her to lay her head in the crook of his neck. Her head slowly slipped down from his neck to his chest, using it as a pillow. Kokichi seemed to have no problem with it.
“What, getting comfortable Himi?” She looked up at him, pouting annoyedly.
“I’m doing this because I have to. I don’t love being close to you.” Kokichi raised his eyebrow, his cheeky smile still plastered across his face.
“Oh well, I’d rather save a donkey lipped tsundere and die by the hands of that crazy best friend of yours, rather than not saving you and still dying.” Himiko let out a small giggle, quickly catching herself with a gasp before he realized. Unfortunately for her he already did but he didn’t want to tease her more than he already had at this point.
“Hey.. Kokichi?” She said to him in a hoarse, quiet voice.
“Yes Himi?” He was confused why she had picked up this more serious tone all of a sudden.
“When are we going to get back to the others?” Ah, there was the question.
“Ah, well, probably when they realize where they last saw us.” Himiko’s eyes grew dull and she laid her face back down into his chest. He was about to add a small tease at the end about missing them but immediately cut off that idea when he realized she was sobbing.
“H-Hey.. Listen it’ll be fine, they’ll find us.” He brought her closer, the space between the two slowly closing.
“I-I just..” Himiko’s words trailed off as she sobbed harder into his chest; Kokichi at this point had no clue what to do. He could feel her tears against his chest and that’s when he got an idea.
“Hey Himiko, listen to me, I know something that’ll keep us warm!” She looked back at him with teary eyes, rubbing the tears away from them. She titled her head and looked at him as if to say “Huh?”.
“Well.. we could just manually dry off our capes and hats you know?” Manually? Himiko was confused, how were they going to dry off their accessories without a fire or the sun?
Kokichi demonstrated by picking up his cape and hat, squeezing them both out till they couldn’t even form a drop of water on their exteriors. And then he just- wore them? Himiko took the chance and did exactly what Kokichi did. When she finally felt that they were all squeezed out, she put them on. They were slightly cold and still damp to the touch but she was very happy to be wearing them again.
“Oh wow, it actually worked!” Himiko said, tired but enthusiastic.
“Well, now you won’t have to be close with me, you have your own blanket.” He winked at her. When he put it into words like that, Himiko doubted whether or not she should even use her cape...
“N-No!” He looked at her a little shocked.
“My cape is way, way too damp and thin to use as a blanket. We’re still doing the other thing.” Kokichi put on a smirk.
“The ‘other thing’ ?” He got close to her.
“I mean, the body heat activity..” She swore his smirk just got more sinister.
“Himiko, you’re beating around the bush, just get to it please?” He said in mock confusion. She couldn’t bear it.
“Can we still do the body heat hug thing?” Her voice grew more silent with each word.
Kokichi, already close to her, hugs her and lays back down on the floor again. She pressed herself back into his chest and wrapped her own arms around him. Smiling sweetly, Himiko said:
“Hey, Kokichi?” Patting her head, he said:
“Hmm?”
“I- I like-“
“You like~?”
“I like pancakes! Yeah- Yeah I love pancakes!” Himiko decided maybe it wasn’t the right time to tell him. His snicker in response told her that he probably knew she was joking.
"Well, your royal Himikoness, you can get a plateful of pancakes soon, okay?" She looked up so he could see the adorkable smile she had on her face but registered the fact that they were extremely close. She wanted to peck his lips which looked so kissable but she realized that she was sneezing and coughing for the past... how many hours again? That didn't matter, what did was the fact she was struggling to stop herself from kissing him even though she definitely had sickness laced on her lips.
But that didn't stop him from giving her a small kiss.
"N-Nyeh!?" She exclaimed, processing what had just happened.
"What is it Himi? It looked like you were just dying to kiss me.." Her eyes widened; face going dark red.
"N-Now how would you know that you liar!? You're just using that as an excuse-" She was cut off once again by his lips pecking hers.
"I wouldn't use the same excuse twice now would I~?" His cheeky grin left her speechless.
"N-Nyeh.." She stared at his face for a good minute and for some reason, she touched her lips.
"Wait why did you do that, you're going to get sick now!"
"Well breaking you out of your shell is worth way more than some silly cold that I could endure." She zipped her lips and looked into his eyes for some time. Russet to amethyst. When he blinked after a minute or so, she realized he had kept his eyes open just so she could stare into them. This made her bury her face in his chest again.
The cold had started to dissipate as the weather calmed down as well. Kokichi noticed this since he was facing the window but he wasn't going to tell her. Not when, even if it was dry outside, it probably wouldn't be as comfortable and warm as it was with her.
So, they spent the entirety of the next few minutes listening to the drizzle of the rain and their own breathing. The peace and calm was abruptly interrupted by a door slamming open.
"H-Himiko!? What are you doing to her degenerate!?" She felt herself being pulled away from the purple haired boy who she had had her arms wrapped around. She looked back in her delirious state and saw Tenko looking at Kokichi with absolute rage in her eyes.
"Why are her clothes there!? Wait, why are the both of you-" She was suddenly interrupted by a dark-haired girl covering Tenko's mouth with her hand. She tilted her head to the side and Kokichi figured out that the girl was Maki.
"Ignore her, we're going back right now. Kokichi, take the clothes." He stood up, dusted himself off, and took the clothes in his arms. They all got out of the house, with Kokichi behind Maki and Tenko carrying a near to passing out Himiko. He finally saw the sky, it was back to being deep purple without the dark clouds. The stars and moon were shining, along with the flashlight Maki carried. They all walked their way through the forest, not a bit of the walk being quiet.
"Tell me you purple-haired degenerate, the hell were you doing with Himiko!?" She looked back to see Kokichi smiling "innocently" at her.
"Just giving her warmth Tenko. What, would you have liked to see her freeze up out there?" His retort kept her shut for a while. Maki wanted to thank him but she knew he'd hold that over her head for however long he could.
The walk through the woods finally ended when he saw the street, darker than before considering the street lights were turned off. They are usually turned off when it gets late at night so- wait, speaking of..
"Uh hey Maki, what time is it?" She looked back at him with a face void of expression.
"Around 2 in the morning." His eyes widen as he looked at Himiko's red hair, the only visible part of her since Tenko was carrying her in her arms. Didn't Tenko say that Himiko went really early to bed? Oh god. He shook his head, trying to get the thought out of his mind. He praised whatever lord Angie believed in as he heard the very familiar voice of a certain pianist.
"Oh my god! Where were you two?! We spent so long searching and we didn't find you anywhere near the place we stopped at, so we had to look through the forest!" Kokichi inwardly said to himself that explaining this to them wouldn't be the death of him. At least, he hoped Tenko would take it lightly.
They were both given sweaters which Gonta got out from Kokichi's bag, warm water, and seats in the back since the others weren't sure if they were sick or not. They didn't really want to risk it and so the only two who ever went to the back to give them more assistance were Tenko and Gonta. Although Tenko was only there for Himiko, giving Kokichi dirty looks whenever he talked to the red-haired girl.
The night finally settled down as everyone started to doze off and fall asleep. The bus' noises along with the peaceful breathing, aside from Kaito and Miu's noisy ass snoring, gave the two, who were currently burning up, a moment to be alone. Himiko moved closer to him, finally sitting on his lap and flailing her arms 'round him. He graciously accepted, being slightly hesitant considering the fact that she might be too delirious to realize what she was doing, but ah, it didn't matter at this point right? Not when her cute face was laid up against his chest, her breathing being the only thing he could focus his ears on. He wrapped his arms around her, playing with the cherry red strands of her hair.
"So what made you come back?" He said quietly but straight into her ear so she could hear it. In response, she pulled her face from his chest and looked straight at him, clearly tired as all hell and wanting her human body pillow to shut up.
"Nyeh.. I'm tired and you're the only thing soft enough for me to sleep on.." He slipped the hand from her hair to her cheek, fondly caressing it with his thumb.
"Well now isn't that just an unfortunately worded statement~?"
"Sh-Shut up.." The moon shone onto his lavender eyes, producing a quick glint of light on them.
"Make me." They were left in silence. He just looked at her expectantly while she was looking at him as if he were insane. Well, they've done this before, haven't they? So a quick peck on the lips wouldn't hurt, no?
One quick peck turned into two. Three. Four.. You get the idea. They had a wonderful time silently telling each other snarky retorts and or sweet nothings, sharing chaste kisses (Himiko usually placed them on his lips but apparently he found her entire face kissable), and just staring into each other's eyes.
By the time morning arrived, the others woke up. Unfortunately for them, Tenko was the first to wake up since she held a strict training regiment and forgot to turn her alarms on her phone off. So when she awoke to her best friend on this (literal) criminal degenerate's lap, she wasn't exactly happy. The unholy screeches only awoke Kokichi for a split second before he realized she was being carried off by Maki again (who seemed to be pissed that her sleep was interrupted).
Needless to say, the both of them had gotten to know each other a bit more. The "bit more" being the fact that they both liked each other but were too scared to admit it and get rejected. The rain fogged up the thoughts of those negative possibilities and now there they were, hugging each other during the entire morning. Lord knows what'll happen when they get woken up for lunch.
