Work Text:

It had been roughly two weeks since the Saints had assumed control of the Syndicate Tower. The formerly red skyscraper that dominated the skyline of the city now lit up the surrounding buildings of Henry Steel Mills in a purple hue. Beyond that, the Morningstar symbols on the tower's base had been replaced by purple fleur-de-lis, further displaying the new ownership of the building. But the Saints hadn't stopped there, they even had the tiles on the floor that previously depicted red stars changed to fleurs on the square south of the building, marking the entire area as theirs.

With that, Henry Steel Mills, as well as the whole downtown district, was under the Saints' control, and the purple spotlights that shot towards the sky at night made sure to let everyone know about it. All the Morningstar's forces had been driven out of downtown and were now regrouping in New Colvin to the east where the red gang's presence was still as powerful as ever.

She expected the Syndicate to strike back at them soon in a big way, either by attacking their penthouse, or trying to reclaim their skyscraper. There was no way they wouldn't react to the assassination of their leader. There had already been attempts to disrupt the construction work on the building during its renovation. Those attempts ranged from violent attacks on construction workers such as planting explosives in the worker's vehicles, to peaceful protests arranged by the Syndicate, which in the public's eye, was just a legit organization that was being attacked by the purple gang. The Syndicate's roots ran deeper than the Saints had initially expected. They had their hands in almost everything in Steelport, even politics.

Originally Velvet had planned to blow up the skyscraper with a large bomb they had stolen from the Steelport National Guard while raiding their armory a month or two ago, however in the end it seemed impractical to detonate it. They had no proper means of getting the bomb deep into the building, but only the loading dock at the bottom, which would have either resulted in causing insignificant damage, or could have destroyed the integrity of the building's foundation, making the tower unstable and putting it at risk of collapsing, and even the leader of the Third Street Saints didn't want to dare being responsible for such a huge skyscraper to come down onto the surrounding area. Furthermore, the newest addition to the gang, the Russian giant, Oleg Kirrlov, had made another good point against setting off the explosive. Despite his hatred for the Syndicate and this building in particular for what they had put him through here, he reasoned that it would be a waste to destroy all of Phillipe's work.

So the Saints spared the building, taking it for themselves instead, and with it all the secrets that it contained. It would take them a while to go through all of the paperwork that had been handled inside, a huge part of the building was mere office space, with hundreds, if not thousands of people working there around the clock. Finances, business dealings, PR, logistics, all of that was being handled there. And while the Boss naturally didn't care much for the paperwork itself, she knew that they could get valuable information from it, so she had people doing the boring task of going through it all for her.

She hoped the documents and files within the tower would contain the location of various businesses the Syndicate owned or had stakes in. If them taking over the penthouse in Sunset Park already rewarded the Saints with the deeds to several Syndicate owned properties, what would their main base of operation have in store for them? Velvet was also curious about general information such as their inner workings, and members and associates. So far she was only aware of Loren, who had already been taken care of, as well as his two secretaries whose names she couldn't quite remember.

However, for now she had more important things to take care of, such as organizing the funeral they would be holding for Johnny, the former second in command of the crew, back in Stilwater. Now that the man responsible for his death was dead, the Saints could take some time to mourn their friend and give him proper send-off.

Vivi knew she would return to Steelport after that was taken care off, she wanted the whole Syndicate gone, not just its leader, she was certain she would yet find a use for the bomb that was still in the gang's possession.
