The video started with Katsuki and Izuku sitting on a couch. They looked distraught, and Katsuki was visibly holding back tears. His hands were clenching and unclenching as he tried to keep a straight face. Izuku was flushed, eyes red but smiling. His face was stained with tear tracks. He waved at the camera. Katsuki scoffed and crossed his arms over his bulky chest.
“Hi, guys. It’s Deku here. I’m not here with good news. As you know, Kacha-Katsuki and I have been together for 6 years now.” Izuku looked at Katsuki. “We’re breaking up.”
Katsuki looked away from Izuku.
“Why do we owe it to these extras anyway? We don’t have to explain shit-” Katsuki muttered. The rest of his sentence was lost in rumbling words; the camera didn’t pick up.
Izuku sent him a fond smile. He faced the camera again, “As you all know, we kept our relationship a secret from the public, but about two months ago, it came to light. Not the way we wanted to be outed but,” Izuku held up his hands and waved them in front of him in frantic motions of panic. Katsuki visibly bristled, his hands reaching for Izuku but stopping. He huffed, Deku continued, “which is fine! It was definitely not a problem! We were upset by it but were okay. We-”
“Don’t lie, Izuku,” Katsuki spoke up; his voice was bitter. He looked directly at the camera. His eyes brimmed with anger and despair. Out of the two, he was less composed and more jittery. Almost tense. As if at any moment he would snap, and it would be a terrifying feat. His eyes looked blood-red as if he was wearing contacts or it was edited. “It’s because of the stress of the rabid fans that we-”
Izuku’s smile broke, and he started to sniffle. “That we broke up, I know, Kacchan. But I – “ he shakes his head,” yeah, that’s all I have to say. We’re over. We understand it's quite a shock to you guys, but there is a level of depth to our relationship that we don’t broadcast on the internet. We’ve always had our ups and downs, but for now,” he looks at Katsuki, ”for now we're over. It might be forever, but time will only tell.”
Izuku rolled his shoulders and sat up straighter, finally facing the camera again, giving it a wobbly smile while Katsuki seemed to be getting more agitated. “Obviously, we’ll both be taking a break from our respective channels, so if you could please respect our privacy at this time”, Katsuki muttered, “I doubt it,” but Izuku continued as if Katsuki hadn’t said anything, ”I would genuinely appreciate it. Bye.”
Izuku reached for the camera while Bakugo slumped into himself, his hands cradling his head as if he had a headache.
The video ended.

Friends
“So, they’re really broken up?” Kirishima looked at his friends. They were in a crowded bar, waiting for Bakugo. Kirishima wondered briefly if it was a prank. Bakugo and Midoriya were the perfect couple. They seemed perfect on the surface, so was something really that wrong. He frowned, his fingers playing with the condensation of water on the glass in front of him.
“It appears so.” Kaminari sat up straight. He looked at Mina, who appeared to be close to tears, and Kirishima felt terrible about it. He didn’t like to see her so sad.
“I just can’t understand how?” Mina sniffled, “They are my OTP. I really hope it was some joke. It’s not a funny joke, but I would be okay if it was a joke,” she sulked.
“I guess the perfect couple isn’t all that perfect,” Kaminari says bitterly.
Why would he say it like that? Kirishima frowned. That wasn’t an appropriate comment to make.
“Don’t talk like that about them. It's okay that we don’t know what happened. I mean, as their friends, we have to respect his choices and decisions."
“Maybe Midoriya isn’t as good as we always thought he was,” Kaminari teased.
A throat cleared, and everyone froze.
Shit.
“Hey, Bakubro. Listen, we weren’t, uh. We didn’t mean- Uh.” Kirishima tried to play it off cool. It didn’t work as Bakugo scowled and crossed his arms. He looked so disappointed that even though he hadn’t said anything, Kirishima felt horrible.
“Save it, Kirishima.” He rolled his eyes; he looked tired. “I heard what you said.” He shook his head, frustrated. He slumped down next to Mina and sighed. “I don’t even know why we broke up, if I’m being honest. I can’t even tell you what Izuku is like. What if he is a bad person?” He snorted. “Who am I kidding? That man is sunshine and rainbows. Everything I’ve ever wanted and needed in a person.”
“Why don’t you try to get back together with him then?” Kaminari needed a filter at this point. Kirishima shook his head in disappointment, sending a glare and mouthing, ‘knock it off, Den’.
“And wait for the same cycle to begin.” Bakugo scoffed. “I’m not about to waste my time with that again. He called it off anyway, not me.”
Kirishima felt his heartbreak. Bakugo sounded so sad and wistful. So melancholy that it made his hurt physically hurt. “Bakugo.”
“Whatever, it's fine. Just get me something strong to drink.”
Kaminari threw his arm around Bakugo, don’t worry, Kacchan, Bakugo elbows him, "Ouch. Anyway, as I was saying, we got you covered."
Kaminari went to fetch the drinks, and Kirishima gave Bakugo a once over. He looked horrible and sad. He had never seen Bakugo have such dark bags under his eyes. Just the thought that the two were broken up made his heartache, and he wasn’t in the relationship. The two of them were like yin and yang, the perfect balance to each other. Kirishima wasn't sure how he would be able to cope without his significant other.
"Are you okay, bro? We're always here for you."
Mine leaned into Kirishima’s warmth. He wrapped his arm around her slowly.
Bakugo looked away, nose flaring at the couples affection. It wasn’t that it was the worst thing he had seen them do. It just reminded him of how alone he was.
"It's whatever," he muttered. "I'll get over it soon enough."

"So you broke up with him?"
"That’s what I said for the 6th time, Shinso."
"Just checking," Shinsou sighed, "you know what this means, right?"
"What?"
"There's a long line of guys that have been dying to date you."
Midoriya snorted, "Yeah, sure. I totally believe you."
Shinsou looked at him. "You want to see your thirst tweets on Twitter?" He scrolled on his phone. "Ooo wait, look at this, a list of the top 10 thirst tweets about you." He tossed his phone at Midoriya, who barely caught it.
"This is why you keep on breaking it," Midoriya warned.
"Yeah, yeah, read them out loud, will ya?"
Shoto snorted. "Really, he’ll stutter throughout the entire thing."
Ochako huffed, "like your monotone, is any better."
"I'm going to have to agree with the both of you," Yoamomo spoke up. "Please hand it to me."
Midoriya, red and flushed, did as she said and handed her the phone. Honestly, he just wanted to be distracted for a little while. He made the worst decision of his life, but he was going to follow through with it because-
Because-
It was his decision. It was his fault. He squeezed his eyes close, forcing his tears back.
A voice cleared, when it was clear Midoriya wasn't going to say anything, "go ahead, Yoayarozou."
"You can call me by my name, Shinso."
"No."
"Okay then." She cleared her voice. “Top 10 thirst tweets about @dekuishere. Welcome to the top 10 @dekuishere thirst tweets; we hope you enjoy it! We hope you pay special attention to who tweeted them! Fans are crazy about this anxious, muscular man.”
Everyone laughed at the anxious muscular man comment.
Shinso whistled, “you’re definitely a fine specimen, Izuku.” Midoriya spluttered and didn’t reply.
"You think he’ll smash my head like a watermelon? Those thighs are Gods gift to us all.” Everyone burst into laughter while Midoriya hid his face. “From-“ She frowned.
“Who said it?” Ochako leaned forward. What was up with that reaction?
“Bakusplosion.”
The mood falls.
"Uhh, try the next one," Shinso prompted. Midoriya felt his heartache at the reminder. Bakugo was his biggest fan. His life, his comfort.
All of that. A relationship since childhood.
Thrown down the drain.
Yoamo scanned the rest, “they’re all by Bakugo.” She informed them softly. Her hands reached for Midoriya’s, but he moved them away, holding his own shoulders curling into himself. He looked so small and fragile. His friends were at a loss for words. Everyone watched his tears fall faster, soaking the ground below.
He messed up big time. He couldn't feel it as it settled into his bones.
Izuku was now alone.

Parents
“So you guys are over?” Mitsuki spoke up after five minutes. It had been a long five minutes and felt like forever to Midoriya. He didn’t know how to feel. Everyone looked so miserable, especially his mother. It was his least favourite thing in the world to break her heart, but he had done it. He looked away from his mothers searching eyes and instead focused on his own hands. “So, how did Katsuki fuck up?“
“HUH? What makes you think I did something?”
Mitsuki gave Bakugo a meaningful look. Before anything could happen, Midoriya cleared his throat, “It’s my fault. I decided to call it quits.”
Bakugo crossed his arms and huffed, “yep, I’ve been dumped. ”
Everyone fell quiet.
“It’ll be okay,” Inko smiled at Katsuki. “You both are okay with this?”
“I’m not going to force the shitty nerd into a relationship with me. If he wants to call it quits, it’s over, and that’s the end of that.”
“Right, exactly what Katsuki said,” Midoriya agreed. “This was my choice. It doesn’t mean forever; it’s just until the media calms down and the fans stop harassing us so much.”
Bakugo rolled his eyes. “I think this is just going to fuel everything, Izuku.”
Inko couldn’t help but nod in agreement. She wasn’t sure what Izuku hoped to achieve with this break-up, but she doubted the outcome would be any different. Katsuki and Izuku were like yin and yang, opposites that completed each other, and she couldn’t imagine them being separated for long. She watched them interact with a fond smile on her face; everything was going to be okay. She knew that everything was going to work out in the end, even if it didn’t right now.

Themselves
Walking out of the café after a successful interview, Midoriya was beyond ecstatic. The smile on his face made it seem like the sun was shining brighter.
This is the best thing that’s happened! I can't wait to tell Kacchan. I-
His thoughts stop. He can't tell Kacchan anything. He can't say a damn thing to the man. They were over. It had only been one day, but it was sure to be the biggest mistake Midoriya had ever made.
But it was best for them.
Thunder cracked through the sky, and Midoriya bit back a shriek as he was drenched.
There goes his laptop. At least when he gets home, Kacchan will definitely have tea ready for him and the bath running knowing Midoriya would be drenched by the rain. Kacchan was so thoughtful.
That wasn't right anymore.
He shook his head to clear away the obtrusive thoughts. He doesn’t have Kacchan anymore.
Xxx
Bakugo looks at the rain racing against the window. Ah, stormy weather to match his mood, he scoffs. His mind wandered to Izuku. His nerd was definitely getting wet. He never looked at weather forecasts nor bothered to look up from his notebooks to watch the dark clouds gather in the sky. He huffs fondly at the thought.
Damn nerd.
It takes him a moment, lost in the motions of preparing the house for a wet Izuku. He would be cold and shivering, looking a little bit like a drenched rat. His curls would be straight, heavy with rain, and he would smile fondly and say, ‘Kachhan. I-uh-did it again,’ he would shiver, very cold, and Bakugo’s heart would thud, and he would remember how in love he was with the nerd.
His hands stopped moving, the water overflowing from the kettle he was trying to fill into the sink below.
He still loved the nerd. But it had been a week since they broke up.
And Bakugo wasn’t here to play househusband.
He was here to fetch his things from his exes house.
The front door opens. “Kacchan? You’re home.” A very drenched sad-looking Midoriya peeped into the kitchen. BAkugo's heart clenched at the sight. He couldn't believe how adorable the man looked.
“Don’t call me that, you damn nerd. I’m here to fetch my things.” He paused, and the awkward silence was only pierced by a sneeze from the nerd. Bakugo just cannot help it. He looked so useless and sad. Taking pity on him wouldn’t be the end of the world. He could care for Izuku. As a friend, that is.
“Go bath, Izuku. Dress and shit. I’ll leave in a few; I just need some paperwork.”
“o-okay Kach- Katsuki. Thank you, by the way.”
“Whatever.”
The nerd wasn’t his problem anymore.
He wasn’t.
Then why did it hurt this much to walk away? Bakugo sighed as he banged his head on the cupboard. Honestly, fuck this situation.

Each other
He was grinding his teeth again.
“I think we should break up."
“Izuku, what the fuck. It’s not April fools. Nor is it funny.”
Izuku ripped the phone from Katsuki’s grasp and threw it at the window. Bakugo raised a brow at the action. That was kind of hot. He shook his head to get rid of the inappropriate thoughts. “You’re lucky that didn’t break the window, Izuku. Why don’t we calm down and talk rationally?”
For once, Katsuki was the voice of reason, and it didn’t really sit well with either of them. Izuku got angrier.
“No.”
“What the fuck, Izuku?” Katsuki rolled his eyes. “Calm your tits, honestly sometimes it’s like dating a moody woman.”
“Sexist.”
“Valid, but it is true. At least they have hormones to blame. So will you calm the fuck down?”
“No, I can’t, Katsuki. Look at you. You’re so stressed and angry, and you don’t listen to me. The more I say ignore it, the more you purposely go and find more people to insult, and you’re getting dragged and cancelled for what? For me? You don’t listen.”
“Yeah, right, you let anyone and everyone walk all over you, and I’m sick of it. If you think that I’ll just sit back and let you break up with me over some idiots behind a screen, you're wrong.”
“Exactly! Behind a screen! They’re nothing to us. They mean nothing!”
“Then why are they running our relationship?” Katsuki fell quiet.
“It’s better this way.”
“So you’re not fighting for us? You want us to be over just like that? Did I mean that little to you?”
Izuku looked away. He was trying to be logical, to make a good decision, something that would help Katsuki. He knows this is the best thing for them.
“Yes, Katsuki.“ Izuku’s green eyes looked up at Bakugo. He stood up to his full height and looked at Katsuki in his eyes, his heart fighting against the words that he knew I had to say. He couldn’t be selfish anymore; he couldn’t watch them ruin Katsuki. His green eyes met Bakugo’s, “I think we should break up.”
Katsuki took a deep breath. He had to be rational about this. “So, we’re over?”
“We should just take a break, Katsuki. I can’t handle the amount of pressure that all of this is putting on our relationship. We didn’t choose to be out; we didn’t want them scrutinising our relationship, and I-”
Izuku was building himself up to a panic attack, and Katsuki understood his reasoning. When the fans found the picture of him and Izuku making out by hacking into Izuku’s phone, everything was revealed. Everything was out in the open, and it wasn’t by the pair’s choosing. They had hoped that one day they could share a little bit of their relationship with others, but this wasn’t what they wanted.
“I understand Izuku,” Katsuki wrapped his arms around Izuku, and Izuku fell into the embrace, his fingertips digging into Katsuki’s biceps, “we’ll figure this out, Izu. I promise.” Katsuki muttered the phrase as he pressed his lips to Izuku’s forehead.
It wasn’t certain if they would ever make up, but deep down, Katsuki knew that whatever happened would be what was best for the both of them. He could no longer be selfish, but in this moment, he allowed his selfishness to take over for one last time.

-EXTRA-
Three months after the breakup
Sunglasses had never been more of a blessing then it was at that moment. He was a little hungover, and the sun shone so fucking bright.
He raised a hand to touch his neck. That damn nerd was like a vampire. Bakugo felt literal pain emanating from his neck. Not only that but he was limping. Limping! The nerd had done a number on him and he was aching. He had completely forgotten that he was meeting up with his friends for breakfast, they were never going to let him live this done. He was fucked and not in a fun way but everything was working out. It was just-
“Is this the walk of shame?”
Bakugo winced.
Fucking winced! That was evidence enough to Kaminari, who burst into raucous laughter.
"Shut the fuck up."
Kaminari grinned, "proof enough, say no more, Bakugo."
Fuck.
